PC gaming has in recent time showed that it may not have the impulse to compete with console gaming, though they are home to the best graphics and some exclusive titles like Crysis. Over the last couple of years, a lot of events have occurred that can make one draw to a conclusion that PC gaming may become non-existence in the very near future.
Firstly, sales are no longer enough to encourage developers and publishers to make more games on the PC

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."

i guess thats why steam has over 30 million active user right>
i think pc gaming has a future, the question should be, what is the future for console gaming?
Steam - 30 million active accounts
Constant sales that revitalize old games
Risen for example in its entire time being sold on Steam was outsold in the short time it was on sale.
Steam, Impluse, GOG, D2D and Gamersgate are all thriving digital distribution platforms and seem to convince me that if all of them can survive and compete, then there's probably a strong enough market.
