
Indie sandbox title Minecraft is adding a hardcore mode that's actually hardcore. The variation on the game will make it so that if you die in the game, that's it. The world dies with you, and you must start again from the very beginning in an entirely new place. No second chances. Hey, that's just like real life. It may even be applied to survival multiplayer... amazing!
I die in Minecraft's survival mode constantly, so I don't know if I'll be playing this mode any time soon, but I can imagine the extreme amount of added tension that would come from knowing that a single slip off a cliff or poorly times encounter with a skeleton would destroy the entire world I've worked so hard to build.

This is very true, my nephews grew up on these two games and whenever I introduce them a AAA game whether old or new, it's like seeing an alien try to make sense of it and then quickly lose interest in it.

Gaming trends are so weird to me now. Like, I’m old school and games were consumed essentially how movies were. You play through a title and look forward to the sequel or other things that came out. Now, that is so not the norm.
