"I would like Sony/Guerrilla Games and whoever reads this aware that if you use gaming headphones for audio you won’t receive any sound. I can only speak for the lack of sound when it comes to the TRITTON headset I am using and I’m not sure of other gaming headphones have this problem, but I receive audio perfectly from all my other games, and killzone 3 sounds fine through my TV."

I had a 3 hour Killzone 3 gaming session today with my AXPROS. It works fine. Its a problem with YOUR headset bro. Maybe you need to make an adjustment to your sound settings. About a year ago, I had to change my settings to 44MHZ(something like this) to hear music while I'm on the Internet Browser. Maybe this is the problem.

Or maybe its your receiver. On mine, I don't press the Dolby button.

As long as it isn't in the final then i don't care.

"I would like Sony/Guerrilla Games and whoever reads this...."

wtf? just go to beta forums and leave feedback, goddammit, SOny/Guerilla wont be reading you f______ blog

DaCajun5633d ago (Edited 5633d ago )

I have had the tritton ax pros for over 2 years since they first came out and before that crappy Madcatz bought them out and the biggest issue with the headphones is the lack of instruction for setting them up correctly and the average person will screw it up and think the headphones are shit because they don't know any better.

With certain games you can not have every audio format selected for these headphones to work. The first bad company was the same way. Because if you put out multiple signals to it and one that it doesn't understand, it will not register anything. Go to the audio formats and uncheck DTS 5.1 ch and it will work because that is usually the one that is the problem just like it did with KZ2 and R2. If you do like dead suggested you will not have dolby 5.1 sound, just uncheck DTS 5.1 ch only and the rest checked and it will work.

The easiest way to avoid this is if your LCD/plasma your PS3 is hooked to has a optical output on it, so just plug the headset into that. You will never have an audio compatible problem again and you don't have to keep switching your optical cable from component to component that you want to use your headset on, i.e. PS3, Xbox360, DVD player because if it is connect to your TV it will output and sound going to that LCD and it will still be in Dolby 5.1.

Very well written and I will try your advice. I was suprised when I talked with PR about the MadCatz thing, but its part of MadCatz new image.

Oh, and this to the haters. The Pres. CEO of Tritton gave me a pair for FREE 3 years ago while our website attended CES. Thank you TEAM TRITTON.

All you fuckin haters with nothing constuctive to say don't even know what the fuck your talking about or who your talking to. Get from behind the computer screen and off the forums and go to an event.

Thanks once again Cajun and whoever left any constructive advice. I will try later. I don't have time for you haters.

Neko_Mega5634d ago

Or he doesn't know how to work his headset.

I don't see a big deal anyways, its a freaking beta.

rdgneoz35634d ago

"I can only speak for the lack of sound when it comes to the TRITTON headset I am using and I’m not sure of other gaming headphones have this problem, but I receive audio perfectly from all my other games, and killzone 3 sounds fine through my TV."

He hasn't tried it with any other headset and says "that if you use gaming headphones for audio you won’t receive any sound". He should probably test out others before generalizing the problem, when it might just be his headset.

Off topic, anyone else prefer surround sound over a headset? :P

Mr Tretton5634d ago

Yeah, when I got surround sound I kissed headphones (for gaming) goodbye

BloodyNapkin5633d ago

@Mr Tretton

Well maybe you should not knock a good set of headphones until you try them. I play in my theater room with a 106 screen and i have a pretty good setup for audio, denon and b&w speakers. That still does not compare to my headset. Since using my headset i can not play any other way for multiplayer FPS, it improves your game 2 fold.

2Spock5633d ago

Yeah, when I got astro's headset I kissed surrond sound (for gaming) goodbye.

Mr Tretton5634d ago

Guerrilla won't be patching the beta any further.

BrianC62345633d ago

You better get someone to fix a bug in the beta. How dare you try to put out a beta with a bug in it.

Shikoro5633d ago (Edited 5633d ago )

Put /s in the end, otherwise people will take your comment very seriously...

blipboy745633d ago

@deadreckoning, Neko, rdgneoz and to all other commenters. I know how to work my headphones, its not my unit, but I'll try your suggestion. If you read the entire news blip, the sound is fantastic with all my other games. The audio works fine on the music I have stored on my PS3 too. The problem isn't generalized its specific.

If any other gamer has a similar problem with a different type of gaming headphones they use, they need to comment to inform Sony and Guerrilla about the issue so they can patch the game before release.

I have surround sound, but prefer the sound out of my TRITTON surround sound headphones. How does one know, who I suppose is not in the industry what Sony, Microsoft, Guerrilla, or any developer for that matter will or won't do?

The whole point is to care now so there won't be any major issues in the final release of the game. That is why they have betas, to run tests on various issues.

I see one person in the beta, is everyone here who commented in or just have something stupid to say?

MiloGarret5633d ago (Edited 5633d ago )

You don't understand this site at all, do you?

Concerning your problem---> seems like a post on some forum would have sufficed, rather than creating a "news" article titled KILLZONE 3 BETA SOUND ISSUES, PLEASE VISIT MY SITE I'M FUCKING BEGGING YOU.

Btw, just to be slightly productive, I've had zero problems with my cheapass Sony headphones.

JacobIsHollywood5633d ago

Blipboy

Sorry for these tools. While I haven't had any problems with my official Sony Bluetooth headset, I'm glad you're speaking up about your problem. I'm sure Guerrilla wants your feedback, so please contact them about the issue, if you have not.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga4d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer19923d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga3d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman3d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box4d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion3d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv724d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent753d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit3d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz1493d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning773d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.

Ex-Naughty Dog Dev: Big Studios Are 'Forced' to Hire Like Factories

Former Naughty Dog artist Gabriel Betancourt explains why the "sweet spot" for game teams is under 200 people and how AAA "factories" kill creativity.

There’s definitely some truth to this. When teams get too large, coordination starts to outweigh creativity—layers of approval, risk aversion, and tight deadlines can turn bold ideas into “safe” ones. Keeping a team under ~200 people sounds ideal for maintaining clear communication and a shared vision. That said, massive AAA projects also come with huge technical demands and expectations, so scaling up isn’t always avoidable. The real challenge is figuring out how to keep that small-team creativity alive inside big studio structures.

DarXyde3d ago

More than that, it's logistically untenable. Inevitably, when teams get too large, how do you keep tabs on accountability? I suspect this massive team size is a consequence of the perfectionism streak Naughty Dog has.

I wish we could have so many people working on something and it turns out great because I'm all for collaboration in spirit - the problem is too many people as part of the larger team and smaller units. Suppose for example that you have too many people in the art department; you will very often come up against fiercely competing visions for how things should look. That competitive vision will cause friction between team members, team doesn't work as a unit, the back and forth can further delay parts that the other departments are waiting for, etc etc.

A 200-person team says, to me, that we need to scale back game development. Even if it means we go back to PS2 era costs and scale, why not? Those games are still great fun, the budgets were in check, and you could literally break the 200-man team into like 10 20-man teams working on different projects.
