As for the list of things I hate about gamers/gaming; I'd include the quality of 'mainstream' games too. It seems some games include content that serves no purpose aside from creating media controversy (i.e. free publicity)
... and then the media just gives games and gamers a bad name
.. although I guess game companies are to blame for this rather than gamers.

Come to think of it, I hate a lot more things about game producers than gamers... but its the gamers who keep those companies surviving.

I wish Deveoplers would focus more on the story of the game instead of online. Multiplayer have been the only thing deveoplers care about lately.

The word itself is stupid. The "gaming culture" is nothing but pretendious bullshit. It's a hobby, people. A hobby.

That and how everyone these days seems to forget games are 'sposed to be that, GAMES.

Those are the two things I hate.

Oh! And online gaming, as well as the idiots who bitch for a tacked-on multiplayer.

Being a champion for your platform is fine but when people spread lies and FUD and speak about a product they have never touched first hand really grinds my gears.

I try not to let it bother me but it's hard to not get sucked in. I find myself being some Kinect crusader here and it really is me just chasing my tail trying to explain to people who have no interest in the truth, just trolling.

I love gamers passion however. I think it's great that people feel so connected to their gaming hobby. Just as long as they keep it tempered. Gamers are born from a competitive spirit so it's only natural they treat being the best as almost a "profession".

The marketing side is just that, marketing. Our hobby doesn't thrive on good will, it's money! As it becomes more mainstream you are going to have the commercial side of it. Something has to pay the bills and pay the people to make these games that we continue to expect more and more out of. Yes, the knockoffs seem like cheap cash-ins but some of that money does go back to the companies making games(albeit not much).

I write for a website as well, and I totally agree with his statements on fanboyism. As for writing stories, it seems like you can't state the truth about something not coming out for a particular console, like, fallout new vegas, we wrote a story asking when the first DLC mission was coming to the PS3 and rec'd. a bunch of negative comments from fanboys with expletive language defending the PS3.

We were not trying to bash the PS3 in the story, we were just curious as many other gamers are as to when Bethesda will be releasing DLC content for the PS3. The Fanboys saw the title and immediattely started crying and cursing holy hell, stating that our site is "biased" and the "PS3 rules!". That shite has got to stop, we can't even write a news or opinion peiced without people sending us death-threats! Again, we were not writing a story about "how shitty the PS3 is because they don't have a release date for FNV dlc" we were merely wondering when it was coming out. It's sad, really. You'd think these people were on Sony's payroll or something! GET A LIFE!

It's sad but true, but you can't be sensitive in this industry. In order to succeed in gaming jouralism and media, you've got to realize that just like anything else out there, i.e. Sports, politics and religion, there's going to be people who are finatics, and can't separate a legitamite story from a fanboy-rant.

Being a gamer and having more than a few gamer friends I don't personally know anyone who falls into the clothes and food category, definitely fanboyism but even that is more logical arguments that taking a side adamantly.

The competitive thing comes with the territory I mean we say we play MP games for fun first and foremost but everyone loves to slaughter their opponent/opponents and be the best, its more human nature than gamer nature. Maybe we're not hardcore enough I don't know.

Going to have to disagree as I love the Jinx clothing brand. I have I think four of their shirts at the moment and they are probably my favorite shirts I own.

Even when they disagree with me, even when Im criticising myself. The point is everybody has THEIR opinion & I like that. Even when their wrong LoL ( only kidding)

Well, I disagree with everything BUT the fanboyism junk. That shizz annoys me too sometimes.

I love gaming t-shirts. They're so funny, and I have a bunch that are WoW-related and Valve-related. I also loved WoW's game fuel. Whatever flavor the night elf can was, it was delicious.

Also, how can you hate on the hardest of core? I dated someone who was like.. literally so into GH / RB he could FC the vast majority of the really hard songs, and FC/ do really freakin' well on the super hard songs. He hung around with some of the people who were sponsored and junk. They were really cool guys, honestly. They were just very very dedicated. He was also super dedicated to other games, like L4D versus, MW multiplayer.. He was very competitive, and he would get pissed when he was losing, but that's because he wasn't used to losing, because he put so many hours into that game, and he was used to curb stomping everything. If he ever did lose though, on GH pro face off or L4D versus, he would usually send friend requests because it was a rare occasion, and he respected those people.

I don't know. I just find that dedication and putting so much time and actually getting serious about something you really really like to do, well. I find it kind of epic.

That being said.

Fuck Billy Mitchell. I want someone to all out punch that guy in the face.

Annywayyy... The point of "gamer food" is kind of moot, that's personal taste and preferences. If a gamer likes fruit, does it become "gamer food"? Probably not. However I do eat dorritos because they are tasty.

Clothes? I don't know about that so much, I got a black space invaders t shirt free when I got my PS3 and it was a freakin' hit... I was like the coolest kid in school with that thing on, shyeeeeah.
Plus it's freakin' sweet, for example if someone walks past with a white Nintendo t shirt on, and another with a white Nike t shirt on, well I know which one holds my attention and gets more heads turning... wether in disgust or envy, it still counts lol :).

Gamer clothes are amazing- I have a GoW visor beanie and hoodie, a pacman t-shirt, and an amazing super mario t-shirt that I wear for bed because they only had XL. Gamer food- I have no idea why that would annoy anyone, and as for fanboys, well, I love them.

I love all types of gamers, the only exception being the creepy girls- I had one say on WoW yesterday, 'did you know i'm a girl?' I said, 'I'm a girl, what's your f***** point?' Same kinda thing happened on Halo ages ago. They have to make a point of their gender, which BUGS me like hell. But all other gamers rule. I agree with 'Baby-Jedi' even when gamers disagree with me, I still enjoy the conversations.
Many guy gamers may disagree with me- I guess some guys might like those type of gamers :)

My biggest problem is with hackers. While I've never been into console multiplayer (sorry, GoldenEye, Killzone, and every other console multi-player game I ever had), but I'm bigger into PC online games (hence the reason I just downloaded a whole bunch of F2P FPS games) and they're so many hackers that it depresses me.

The fact that people have to cheat to win and make themselves feel good while expert players are getting n00b-t00bed (or however it's spelled) is just saddening. Typically, I finish first in a whole bunch of online matches, but one hacker on the opposing team places me at last. I hate Aimbot.

Still, I'm stubborn so I continue playing the game anyway XD
