It's great to see how far micro has come this gen.

Micro is building alot of momentum in the US, seems they are really doing a good job of making the console a very diverse gaming machine with something for everybody.

NPD/America=360
Mediacreate/Japan=ps3, wii
Chart-track/UK has favored both from time to time, but more often the limited data leans toward 360, and since the launch of the 360s all signs have pointed to the 360.

Given there is really no data for the rest of the world from an established independent source its likely anybodys guess which console is selling the most month to month worldwide. I'd love to see links/proof that say otherwise.

gaden_malak5715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

PS3 42 million since November 2006
360 45 million since July 2005

Is enough proof who is outselling who.

For the record, as far as I am concerned or care, both are selling about the same WW and that is good. Neither will prematurely end this gen.

Anon19745715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

@ JokesOnYou. Even with the launch of the 360 slim and most recent price cut, last time we saw numbers from each company the PS3 was in front yet again as it has been for quite some time now. I see no reason why the last 3 years of PS3 momentum would have changed overnight relative to the 360.

Of course, you know as well as I do that no established, world wide, independent source exists for this type of data - so all we have to go by is the official numbers (subject to independent audit) submitted by each company to the appropriate regulatory bodies as part of their ongoing reporting obligations set out by law. But I understand you not wanting to go by those figures as they don't support your particular point of view. Good luck finding an alternate, reliable source that does. Let me know how that works out for you.

With the price cut, launch of the 360s and Halo Reach, the 360 is YTD up only 100,000 consoles over 2009 numbers. The PS3 has outsold the 360 by 2.3 million consoles in the first 9 months of 2010 alone we no sign of slowing down worldwide.
Disagree if you like. Thems the facts.
Edit: 3XP below. Why would I be crying? I own both consoles. I'm a gamer, after all. But when it comes to discussing console sales as part of a wider debate on the future of the games industry, the first step is to get ones facts straight.

3XP5715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

What a dumb comment, yeah it is pretty obvious whose outselling who. 45M has always been bigger than 42M (at least in the schools I've attended).

And I can't believe those that agreed with you actually supported such a stupid comment...

So Funny

@Darkride66 - The whambulance is right around the corner, you should be able to get some anti-butt hurt cream from them...lol

Adva5715d ago

The only whambulance is for you bots. He provides facts for world, you provide facts for US ONLY. World>US. Ignorant kid.

As for outselling 45mil/42mil. Did you know PS3 came out 4 years ago and xbox 5? Now divide 45 by 5 and 42 by 4, what do you get? That's right. Shut up.

sak5005715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

@3XP

+ bubbs man, i was also baffled at gaden_malk's idiotic comment about 360's figures since july 2005. Every gamer worth his salt knows 360 was launched in Nov 2005 and with shortages across teh world. I guess he was still in his nappies at that time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

"The Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2005, in the United States and Canada; December 2, 2005, in Europe and December 10, 2005, in Japan"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/...

Yet these JAses of SONY camp agreed with his ignorant comment shows the mentality of these people. With IQ numbers less than their ages no wonder sony feeds on their blind following.

Did you guys remember 2005 videos showcasing PS3s titles coming at launch of ps3 including GT5? Still waiting huh?

gaden_malak5715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

lol @ the morons disagreeing.

45 is greater than 42. Well done. Where in my post did I say otherwise? Oh wait, I didn't. Your lack of comprehension shows there.

This might make it clearer for you:

45 / 5 = 9 million per year
42 / 4 = 10.5 million per year.

lol @ shortages. Yeah that's a good excuse. That was the beginning. I'm sure that excuse doesn't ride now, never mind the fact that the PS3 also had shortages.

Boy, the stupidity of some people is really evident here. Go back to school kids.

@gapecanpie - Are you really that stupid? The 360 could have easily sold 4 million since then? In one month? Really, are you that desperate and hopeful the 360 is beating the PS3 (which it clearly isn't, the averages prove it) that you would make such a stupid comment?

@oohWii

I didn't spin any numbers. I stated exactly what has been sold from the last release. These moronic monkeys, including yourself, got on their high horses and started defending the 360.
It sounds as if the last defense for the losing 360 is they've sold more. They're still selling less per year than everyone else.

Do you think Microsoft think along those lines? Hey we've sold 45 million. It doesn't matter that we are selling less per year than the competition. We've got more out there.

The problem here is you are so damn stupid you really can't see the forest for the trees.
It's pathetic really.

oohWii5715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

He knows exactly what you are saying. His point was, stop with the bitchassness and your idiotic number spinning and deal with it.

You sound like a little girl spinning the numbers, I don't care if the 360 had a 10 year headstart, at this point in time the 360 has sold more consoles than the PS3.

You're smarter than you little brother (at least I hope you are.) But, based on your last comment, it's probably only because you were born before he was...lol

Dude, give it a rest, you looking desperate!

RememberThe3575715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

He obviously didn't get the comment. Since he could not see it's merits. Yearly sales are of the same merit as totally sales, if not more. It's OK to talk about total sales but not yearly?

You seem to need that anti-butthurt cream 3XP was talking about.

And calm down with the personal attacks, it's kind of weird.

JokesOnYou5715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

Just like I thought, no numbers worldwide, meaning either company is free to flood the channel especially outside of NPD, Mediacreate, and Chart-track, where we have no indication of "sold to consumer" figures. I think if 360 or ps3 were dominating in a large region like UK maybe you could make the assumption that either console was leading worldwide but based on the little info we have that doesn't seem to be the case and with US and Japan numbers favoring 1 side its very hard to get a finger on which is ahead, I doubt its much either way. That should be good news for all gamers, however I'm more concerned with US numbers anyway because thats where I live and I generally believe its the most important market to developers overall, success in Japan doesn't translate to more sales for western type games, since a significant portion of ps3 fanbase is Japanese they generally dont care for western games. Given that the overall margin for hardware sales is very close, nobody here has reliable data of who's selling more worlwide....but go ahead and keep kicking and screaming all you like darkride.

Zeevious5715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

Where, EXACTLY are the millions of broken 360's accounted for?

At the minimum at least 7 MILLION units (at full retail) need to be subtracted from the totals, because Microsoft themselves admit to spending 1.4 BILLION in these warranty/replacement claims. That is at least 7 million retail units!

For all the Microsoft support claiming the importance of accurate numbers -- Where exactly are you or Microsoft accounting for these...besides the publicly provided 1.X billion to repair & replace defective units.

From that number alone, we know millions MUST be subtracted from the total units...yet all I get is disagree's without a single link, or reply proving otherwise.

Microsoft has proven this point for me in their own stockholder statements. Greenberg himself stated they wouldn't release those numbers because they where not flattering to the company. With the new models, this does seem to be a problem from the past...but a problem totaling MILLIONS of units YOU are not accounting for!

If you can prove THEM wrong...you prove me wrong.

If you can't then use REAL numbers before your going on -- and on -- and on -- and on -- and on about a very healthy competitive market for all gamers.

Hasn't this bickering gone on enough. Facts are all the proof you need...if you're not too scared to actually look at them. Millions of them.

JokesOnYou5715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

"Where, EXACTLY are the millions of broken 360's accounted for?"

What the hell are you talking about? Sure 360 had a defect problem, of course they won't what the numbers are but theres a warranty, which means they got repaired and then sent back, only the most extreme SDF members suggest those repairs are counted by micro has another sale. Does sony say how many ps2 failed of that 100+mil, do they say how many ps3's get YLOD?= NO, now if some chose to go buy a second 360 then YES thats a brand new 360 sale, Ebay, 2nd hand sales, and used sales just like with used software titles don't count as a new sale. This is common knowledge in the retail industry. It's not me who needs to proove anything, YOU and others like you are the ones making assumptions about WW numbers and now a ridiculous allegation, accusing micro of counting, repairs, refurbish as duplicate sales, so I challenge you to provide 1 shred of creditable proof this is happening. lol, I'm sure you won't respond with a link to back up your statement, instead you'll just keep kick and screaming, making shiiii up as you go. lmfao

Zeevious5714d ago (Edited 5714d ago )

I'm not making anything up...and feebly attempting to divert attention from the question doesn't provide an answer...but how quaint.

First you state just what I did...Microsoft won't reveal the numbers. Sony did -- Within days of their being any question of it's YLOD or other reliability issues. http://www.maxconsole.net/s...

Then you start in fantasy land...making up stuff with no references...while demanding I provide them...leading you right back to my original question about accountability.

"theres a warranty, which means they got repaired and then sent back" WHERE! Show me this is a stated policy of how repairs are handled and accounted for! IT DOES NOT EXIST!

You insist I provide facts...which I have.
(Sorry I won't do your homework - look it up on Google, and Microsoft's shareholder statements -- Your ignorance is not my responsability -- simply unfortunate for you.)

WHERE does Microsoft state the warranty means it's "repaired and sent back?"

In fact there where warehouses FULL of defective units -- Not repaired ones.

Many people would cause their 360 units to fail just because they where not repaired and in fact replaced with a newer or updated unit.

Here's a question for you. If the game division provides replacement units to the separate warranty division -- is that counted as a SALE?

I've done nothing but provide EXACTLY what Microsoft HAS told us!

You claim it's "common knowledge" in the retail industry...except for Microsoft, who refuse to disclose this...and it's YOU who sounds like your kicking and screaming, demanding numbers...PROVIDING NONE.

Sorry but crying oh SDF won't work with me, cause I laugh at fanatics in the console war...much as I am laughing at your empty message, with NO FACTS.

FACT - Microsoft Refuses to indicate how warranty units are accounted for

FACT - with 1.4 Billion in warranty claims, that is 7 million replacements at full retail...and the number goes up when you consider Microsoft pays OEM costs, not retail.

FACT - Despite what you claim are "industry standards" Microsoft refuses to clearly state how these units are subtracted or accounted for.

FACT - Using only what we DO KNOW from these numbers. There are millions of units listed as "sold" that in fact where replaced and no longer function.

These are all verified facts...The only one kicking and screaming is YOU.

I am reporting ONLY know facts reported by Microsoft themselves...YOU are ONLY stating Assumptions .

Spare me the attempt to pretend I'm somehow associated with the stupid Console Cults! Nothings further from the truth and facts...both of which seem to escape you.

The only shiii being made up is the misleading info by Microsoft...and you.

Based on reported numbers and facts...Microsoft refuses to account for millions of warranty units. You claim they have stated this...WHERE...I've looked.

Looks to me like The Jokes On YOU.

Still can't get over how well Xbox and ms does against Sony these days

jwatt5715d ago

Ms always seems to find a way a push a lot of consoles during the fall/winter season. I think slim, halo, fable, cheaper price and gamers love for xbox live for the reason it sells so well In America.

you forgot to include banned systems and RROD repurchases

PS Don't bash me, the truth is the truth.....

sak5005715d ago

@drang

Yes same way ps2 reached 120 million units. 70% were due to repurchase due to broken lens, cd tray issues. The POS died twice on me and had to get two ps2s. So effectively only 60million individuals owned ps2. Not to forgot over hyping of the product and sadam of iraq ordered 50k ps2 thinking he could use it to make nuclear weapons.

tatotiburon5715d ago

lol microsoft points prepaid card outselling Move

KratosGod35715d ago (Edited 5715d ago )

Xbots fanboys like you should be celebrating when PS3 sells 1000 units or less each month, don’t you think?
And BTW where are the Kinect numbers???

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio72d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing72d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9272d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit72d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing72d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9272d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
