Now THAT is some serious lip sync technology!

I will say this is the first "multi-platform" title that the facial animation can compete with the ones in Heavenly Sword. However it looks like another GTA/Mafia game. The good lord knows we don't need another one of those type of games. Hopefully there is something new in it that seperates it from those titles, I don't want to judge the game before even I played it, so hopefully the game is release before the next olympics.

All that is left is Agent and Max Payne 3, hopefully these titles are unveil sometime next year.

A trip through Uncanny Valley !

The only thing thats really ruined this is once again another open world game restricted in size going multi platform. What Sony need to do is bring Getaway/8 Days back to show what 50GB game do for open world games.

The faces. Oh man!!! The facial movements are fantastic...

Its amazing!!! its really up there with the best in the industry right now. i love the feel of it. but the graphics arent mind blowing. i noticed alot of clipping in it. It looks amazing though and i want to play through this game so :-) i'm happy. now all i want to see next is Agent. if LA Noire's techis being used by R* North then it will be amazing when it's finally shown. :-) my God

...the main actor is Aaron Staton (Ken Cosgrove) from Mad Men. His face and voice are perfect matches. Anybody else pick up on this?

I would say the lip-syncing in this title is about the same as Uncharted 2. There's a little bit of a dip in environmental textures but that's completely understandable since it's an open world title.

L.A. Confidential made into a game...

The voice acting's some of the best I've heard in a video game, and the facial animations are pretty good. Some of them seem a little bit flat; the lead guy really doesn't seem to emote, but maybe that's the idea. I'll need to see more if i'm to be convinced that it's better than heavenly sword. Still it is unbelievably awesome.

Also, does anyone else find that woman screaming at around 0:19 to be fucking scary? Her face bugs the fuck out! It looks sort of glitchy or something.

but they said they would remove the uncanny valley. I think Uncharted 2 still does the best job at this. Maybe even RDR does it better. Ok I think my problem is the motion capture of the bodies. Idk...still can't put my finger on it.

Well this could be the first Rockstar game I buy this gen. I skipped GTA and RDR as there wasn't anything new there, just looked like the same game with much repetition but with different settings and newer graphics.

Providing this isn't "GTA in the 50s" I'll take a look. The investigative side makes it look interesting and it might have something a bit deeper than the norm. It's on my radar.

I just really hope they dont release it with loads of glitches like rockstar usually do (even tho some of them make the game fun). maybe thats to much to ask of a dev in this day and age.

This game looks really cool, but I'm hoping against hope that it doesn't come with R*'s "trademark" sense of humor. Red Dead was cool, intriguing, and fresh... except for the sense of humor, which we've seen in every R* game to date. I'm sick of it; they do mature titles with childish fluff scattered all over the world that just brings down the experience

facial animation i've seen this generation since Heavenly Sword and Uncharted 2.

i was worried when LA Noire kept having delay after delay after delay, but now i see it was, at the least, time well spent on perfecting this tech.

consider this game back on my list.

Hey, I dont mean to start anything but this game has been 6 years in the making and honestly, it shows. Aside from what everyone is calling "brilliant facial animations"(which btw I doubt anyone on here has even hand keyed or animated anything) the game's constant refreshing to keep up with new technology is kinda showing. I love the voices and the theme of this game, I want it to work. But from that trailer, I have to be honest, they didn't show me anything that I haven't already seen in Mafia 2. I read the game informer article about this a couple months ago...that got me more excited for this game than this.

I guess time will tell if this game will be as great as the hype its getting on here.

They should have used this tech for Max Payne 3 since Max Payne 1/2 were sort of like this tech just not as advanced, they used real actors faces in the Max Payne games they should have done the same sort of thing for Max Payne 3.

I'll give you my opinion -

I don't think the facial expression and the lip sync is that good at all - and I'll tell you why:

It's because you're noticing it.

When we talk to people, and engage in communication and socialize with them - we usually do not take notice of their "lip sync" or emotional facial expression.

We do this sub-consciously - in my opinion.

To me - most of the facial expressions and the lip sync looks to me like you are watching slow-motion recorded material.

I think its over-detailed.

Reality as we know it is usually not pretty - and when games add imperfections to them - like scratches on the face, or pimples - that's when we say - WOW! This character has texture, this character has depth!

Another great way to see the lip sync from another perspective is to switch off the sound and try to read their lips.

Granted - not everyone can read lips - but especially when you know what they are saying - its usually easier to do.

Perhaps then you'll notice its not that great after all.

But again - my own opinion.
