Going through the motions: Kinect vs. Move vs. Wii

Yahoo: Nintendo pioneered the motion gaming movement with the Wii. In September, Sony tried to better the experience with Move. And on Nov. 4, Microsoft will begin selling Kinect, which does away with controllers altogether. That’s when the battle will really kick into overdrive.

So they list Kinect's video chat function, but they fail to mention PS Eye's 3-4 people chat?

"So they list Kinect's video chat function, but they fail to mention PS Eye's 3-4 people chat?"

It's Yahoo. What do you expect?

Pennywise5691d ago

I saw that too. Kinect did not get a good review though... as expected.

And it was the one feature I noticed missing from the list. The fact that he mentions Kinects video chat and not the Eye is just pathetic.

It's a major feature that should be mentioned all the time.

PS3 = 6 people at a time video chat. It's been there since launch.

I Can't escape the feeling that this Article is kind of a Fanboyish.

thrust5691d ago

wonder how many kinect have sold on its first day?

HolyOrangeCows5691d ago

Not enough to make a genie show up and make them work without horrible lag and "BAM!" moments.

Wait a minute, Sony is a poineer in motion gaming from the PS2 age and develop Move for what it is.

hoops5690d ago

First console to have motion controllers was the Atari 2600 with the Le Stick.
The PC had motion controls before the PS2 and it was a controller from Logitec and Microsoft.
Then you have Sega

"As we already know, the Dreamcast already had a motion controller in 1999 with the Fishing controller, which unlike this idea was actually put out on the market but it's technology was never really emphasized on, with the exception of some hidden compatibility with Virtua Tennis and Soul Calibur. In late 2000 Sega also developed the Samba De Amigo maracas, which used a unique height detection sensor bar, kind of (but not exactly like) the senor bar the Wii used to detect where the remote is pointing at the screen."

Sony did not pioneer it.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle37d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree42d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde43d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy44d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

DivineHand12543d ago (Edited 43d ago )

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
