By saying that you must be backing up kinect as they don't use controls. yes the game looks good and i cant wait to get it.

Move is amazing im glad sony stuck with the buttons, or we would never be able to play games like mag and killzone, Socom and more.

They came out with the first videogame, first console, first online play, first motion controller, first on the moon, first to discover america, first to perform open heart surgery, etc.

The problem with Kinect is the games and the price, Kung Fu Live is 15$ I think, but Kinect games are full 60$ plus expensive hardware, and so far no interesting games, maybe that will change when we see gameplay from the TGS games.

My other problem is that it clearly took MS focus and funding from HC games.

Kinect does not do augmented reality justice because it's too laggy. When the you on screen copy you 3 seconds later, it takes the immersion and intereactivity out of the experience.

Playstation Move tracks a moving object in order to perform it's motion tracking.... Ironically, that's exactly what Kinect does! So if Kinect has problems, the same should show up with Move.

The lighted ball on top of Move is more like a heat sensor. Kinect does the same thing except for the whole body! If Kinect does have lag, it's because it's tracking an entire body instead of a small ball.

In so many words, Kinect is performing more cations than Move.

Either way you look at it... Kinect is a gaming acheivment just because it works! Even if it does lag a bit. Just to be able to play a game without a controller is the start to something entirely different!

It's strange how a Ps3 developer would come out and say something like this... The day before Kinect launches!

How do you know he hasn't?They are not going to be PSP/Sony exclusive,Ready at Dawn.They will be on next projects started now and I think any dev will have greater knowledge than you,especially with those special view goggles you wear.

Omega4, Got the device in game last week. Its really not that amazing.. Ps3 Move is way better. You really need to take them balls out of Microsoft ass i would say dick but thats all ready up there.

Omega ask ya self this if kinect is so Amazing why dont the so called best developers in the world ( bungie) did not support it with halo... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Because they no it would never work unless you had a controller..

Just like Epic, Gears is out what next year and they have time to add kinect. But Noooooooooo why cause it wont work for the hardcore gamers..

Socom is a hardcore game and i see people going to use move
I even use move for MAG and that is a hard game even with controllers, I cant even go back to DS3 now with some games..

If sony was to bring out kinect other than Microsoft, Gamers would of said oh another Eyetoy then. Am i right AM i right.. yes you no i am

well it's not like augmented reality isn't around since 2005 and several people know the good and the bad of the technology BECAUSE they devellopped apps and games with it already ?

There are severals apps for augmented reality for PC and there is no point of interracting with something with lag

to I thought it was going to be decent but this is just not fun... Standing for an hour jumping and steering. If I wanted an aerobics class with funny movement I would be in an aerobics class. Because if you take away the screen and just watch the movement that is what you are looking at.

Will see.. but so far it looks like the move is better in the way of response. It isnt so bad response on kinnect, but as the article says 1/8 of a second in response isnt very funny when playing precise games. Especially if you play online, camera response + ping . :/ But will see, its not out yet, but i still gonna prefer move i think.

First of all, a Kinect augmented reality game wouldn't require the skeletal mapping software, it would only require the raw 3D image with the RGB image overlapped, so lag would be less than many other Kinect games, and probably almost as little as the PSEye. There has been footage of some Kinect games - Child of Eden for example - that have very little lag, and I believe they bypass the skeletal mapping in favor of the raw image.

The reason I think Kinect can do it better is because it sees you as a 3D object, whereas the PSEye can only look for the Move controller or changes in the image, which means movement. Look at Eyepet. The Eyepet can chase moving objects, but it doesn't actually know where YOU are. If it was on Kinect, the eyepet would be able to climb up onto your shoulder. I'm sure the reason they didn't do Kinectimals as an augmented reality game is to differentiate it from Eyepet.

I think Move is better for most games, but I would say that Kinect could do augmented reality much better than the PSEye.

What are you even talking about? To my knowledge there aren't any Kinect games that feature augmented reality yet. There are at least two Move games.

Everything he wrote makes perfect sense.
A software that knows where every limb is in 3d space has much better potential for augmented reality type games than a software that only registers motion of a silhouette against the static background.

Kung Fu Live does do full body tracking, and I am very intrigued to learn more about how it works, but it is not clear if it could do the skeletal mapping or if it just does really good at picking out your silhouette.

I have tried the demo for Eyepet and might end up buying it for my kids, but just imagine if it could actually track your body so that the eyepet could hop into your lap or up onto your shoulder. As Eyepet is, it just looks for movement (or, of course, the Move).

It does not do skeletal mapping. The background is static, so any motion against the background is registered.

But it's just that: motion. The software has no clue of what's in motion. Could be a human arm, could be a potato on a stick.

besides child of eden is not an augmented reality game..it's an input boxe game where is you put something in the virtual boxes the game as for you ( your hand ) something happens

I think a lot of people are confused about that. Kinect can use several different options for tracking. Like I said above, if it just needs to know what space you occupy, including tracking your hand to operate a menu, it can use the raw 3D image. If it needs to animate an avatar to reflect your actions, then it needs to use the skeletal mapping. If it just needs to take a picture or video, it has the RGB camera.

Oh, and I never meant to imply that Child of Eden is augmented reality, just that I think it uses only the raw 3D camera data to track your hand rather than using the skeletal mapping software. That option gets the same job done with much less overhead.

@ Triella: Good point. The PSEye can run at 60 Hz at standard definition resolution, or at 120 Hz at a lower resolution. I think, though, that Kinect's RGB camera also runs at 60Hz at standard definition (though only has that one option), and it is just the 3D camera that runs at 30 Hz.

No sorry it couldn't do it "better" just the fact that Kinect camera only tracks at 30fps means automatically more lag than PSEye with it's 60fps even if visually the difference is minimal.

Look at Kung Fu Live and Lights Out. Both are very limited with body motion in 3D. Even the Gladiator game in Sports Champions is very limited in character motion. Kinect tracks the body much better in a 3D environment which is where Kinect games will shine. Move on the other hand has more versatility since it has buttons and can detect motion. It just doesn't do body tracking as well.

That game of hitting the red balls on Kinect is the same idea. This is why i want to try it and see for myself how well its able to track and how fast it can do hit detection.

I have played quite a few Move titles and some are very responsive while others aren't. If we see this is all Kinect titles then its safe to say its the hardware. But from what i read some titles have lag delays and some dont but i need to try it myself.

Eye Pet is augmented reality, kinectimals is not.

I have not seen any augmented reality on Kinect yet.

I am a little confused about what we are talking about. Seeing that the Move is the only controller in the bunch that does augmented reality, so are you arguing the Kinect could do it better IF it actually did it? So are you arguing about a feature that it doesn't have? I don't think that the point is not that Kinect has full body tracking but the fact that Move does augmented reality whether you think it is perfect or not. So are we arguing that Kinect could do it better? Or are we just trying to put down a Sony feature again because the rival product can't do it? Because when I looked at the Move tech demos, the Move seems to do it pretty damn well.

Well - Eye of Judgment had some cool augmentation. But I agree. When you swing around the move controller and the video image it is a bat or ball that you have in your hand - really accurate and responsive - that is when you appreciate the Move controller.
