October was set to generate a lot of interest in the video games industry with a number of high profile releases ready to hit the high-street with promise.
Sports fans were treated to a double whammy early on, when EA's FIFA11 and Konami's PES2011, which arrived on the 1st and 8th of October respectively. Subtle game-play tweaks and additional features made both football simulation titles welcome companions for several million football fanatics up and down the country. FIFA11 arguably edged out its main rival for yet another year.
