The next entry in eccentric Patapon series for the PlayStation Portable hopes to retain the franchise's casual appeal while adding new features to expand on its simple mechanics.
The Sony published Patapon series -- due out in early 2011 in the West -- allows players to control a squad of creatures using rhythm based commands. Well-timed inputs reward the player with bonuses, while incorrect ones confuse the player's troops and throw battles into disarray.
The first game set to be added to the PS Plus Premium Classics catalog for the month of February, 2025, has been leaked early.
Remastered versions of both Patapon and Patapon 2 are already available on the PlayStation Store and also via the PS Plus Premium Classics catalog. It now appears that the third entry will also be joining them later this month. The PlayStation Plus Extra game catalog and Premium Classics catalog lineup for February, 2025, should be announced this Wednesday at 8:30 AM PT / 11:30 AM ET.

I don't know why more jrpgs haven't stolen off of the addition system in that game it's really satisfying

Id take a modern reboot on Brave fencer Musashi. Maybe a new Tenchu. Heavenly sword would be sick. Mention Klonoa and I might get a little excited too lol
Only reason I didn't mention Brave Fencer Musashi or Tenchu is because Sony doesn't own them. I'll take all the games you listed, they should all return.
I’m just shocked that Square doesn’t do more Remakes of older IPs. Xenogears and Parasite Eve would be killer... although 3rd birthday does make me lose faith in Square being able to make a decent Parasite Eve game, but if they treated it like Capcom treated RE2 then it’d be incredible.
Agreed. I'd love to see this come true but Xenogears and Parasite Eve aren't popular enough. Xenogears has an intense but small cult following. I'd rather see a new Xenogears but I'd definitely take a well-made remake or hell even a remaster with high definition sprites and environments. If they were to give it the same treatment as FF7 it'd probably take over a decade to make.
Parasite Eve might have more luck at a remake... especially if Square wants to ride Capcom's trend of remaking classic Resident Evil titles.

Hmm, Warriors Orochi actually looks like something I'll enjoy. Hell, even WWE could be fun.
Warriors Orochi is awesome, Spelunky is great as well but a bit old, I bet the most people that care about that kind of games bought it already.
WWE is just a bit above mediocre and the stinker this month I think, personally I was happy that I could rent it a while ago for a weekend instead of buying it.
Yakuza 5 for PS3 is one of the best games on the system and I read that Rebel Galaxy might be great fun too. Seems it is a good month no matter which platform you prefer.
Yeah Yakuza 5 is as close to a PS4 game as you can get on the PS3. As for Rebel Galaxy, it has all the right ingredients for a great game, but it just comes up a little short in each department. Still a very solid pick up for free though.
Rebel Galaxy is a ton of fun. I've got it for PC but I'd like to have a free copy on xbox

I really believe this is the reason there is so much hate every month around the free games. Some fanboys cannot stand to lose any pointless internet console battle, ever.
Yeah people love to make competition out of anything they can. It's a classic human thing to do.

Online play is why people pay for Gold and Plus anyway. People were paying for Gold before the free games. A lot more people started paying for Plus after Sony put online behind pay wall.
Most aren't going to stop their subscription just because the FREE games are 'bad.' I mean even if one is delivering significantly better games than the other, are people gonna put their money where their mouth is and stop paying their sub at the expense of online play in order to get better FREE games? Nope, just pointless arguing to make the other feel bad about the FREE games they are receiving.
The losers are people who pay for PS Plus and Xbox Live and don't even know they have free games to download each month -- like most of my friends :D.
I'd say about even, overall Xbox has been doing much better and ps plus has continued steady pace, I'd say both games with gold ps plus are about even in there monthly offerings noadays
I'm not liking the changes they made to the series. I miss the old battle cries. Patapon 1 was great and a new experience, Patapon 2 good but just too repetitive if you played the first one. I still haven't beaten it Patapon 2. I'm on the edge about buying this Patapon 3. They changed this game up so much, just look at the gameplay. This is not the Patapon I remember. I will wait for reviews and I might buy it if they cut down on the need to grind on the same levels over and over.
