I doubt you'd get 10fps on the 360 with this game. It would chug so badly, ouch.

Madden is at 30fps but it drops below that....even the madden 08 on the Xbox 360 is not locked at 60fps...it drops below that at times.

There are many games on the PS3 that are 1080p at 60 fps...its all about using the cell and rsx together.

60FPS I'm not really sure about my feelings about it. Frankly I don't notice something like that, and usually it doesn't interfere with my gaming experience.

As long as it doesn't prevent the ability to play i'm ok with it.

there is nothing wrong 720p as a resolution standard. There are more and more 1080p tv's out there, but still not that many. It's still going to be smooth at 30 fps. I don't see much difference in 30fps verses 60fps, the human eye can't even see that fast anyway. I am sure the frame rate will run perfectly at 30 fps. I'd definitely rather see more detail.

Resistance was locked at 30fps and it runs great. So if they can manage to lock 30fps solid on killzone2 with that level of detail then its a great achievement from guerillas part and only greater for us though only time will tell what will happen its still in an early devolopement state. Pre Alpha or something like that i think :)

Look people, only reason it's good to have 60fps is for games that vary in framerate. When graphics get intense and framerate drops 20fps to 40fps your eyes don't see the drop. If it was 30fps then it would drop to 10 fps and your eyes would see the difference. Most of the time 60 fps is only important for PC games because the framerates are not locked. If they can get the framerate locked at 30fps then there is no problem. EA can't seem to lock their framerates so that's why it's such a big deal for them. The guys that are making KZ2 could make it run at a 120fps but what's the point, bragging rights. That's stupid. Your eyes can't notice much above 30fps anyway.

People are defending this company, despite gt5 showing that 60fps and 1080p and amazing graphics is possible. Yes special effects sometimes need to be toned down to reach that level.
But kinda makes gt5 seem even more special in my own eyes. since technically they could Double the detail and cars on track for example for a trade off half the frames to 30fps and 720p to continue to smoothly render everything.... but that would be 32 cars instead of 16 at 200,000 polygons per a car each. Crazy, BUT Makes you think in comparison.

But obviously its completely diff engines showing off completely diff effects and shaders.
If this game was at 1080p or 60 frames per a second, I would say hands down it cant be done on the xbox 360.
But at these details... and i know these details DONT MAKE A GOOD GAME... (except stable framerates)
People will be harder to say its only possible on ps3 .....graphically....

But it does show the advantage of blu-ray, which is seriously needed for the ps3 to sell itself.

Since gears was at 720p and 30fps that means that you don't need 1080p 60 fps to have an awesome game. Also Resistance was at the same and it was an awesome game as well.

Well, to try and stay in topic instead of complaining about dumb framerate isues, there's one thing that worries me when they say that each level is +2gb and its the fact that if u add the audio and many other things this game could end up being REALLY short, an example of this is Heavenly Sword..., who cares if it has 10 gb of audio if it only takes 6 hours to beat it, i would have prefered less space of audio and more game time, than what we got in the end.

On a side note, to all the PS3 fanboys saying 360 couldnt handle the game at 60fps, remember that if the current multi-plataform games have showed us something, its that FOR NOW, the 360 have had less frame rate isues than the ps3 ones

Well first off anybody who expected 60FPS @1080P for a game like this is dreaming. Their is just WAY to many things going on and too many textures and things for any current console to run a game like this at those frames and that resolution, well for now atleast, maybe in the next few years it can be accomplished. But holy hell 2 GB for one level? So that's like 1 gig for the audio and 1 for the gameplay right? lol j/k it's obviously because of the massive amount of sh!t going on and the detail/texture work...I guess this is one reason something like this wont be done on the 360. But to each his own, both consoles will have some sick ass games like this (I.E. Gears) Plus whatever Gears did , Texture loading? OK im sorry but you really need to get your facts straight, it pisses me off when people post things they barely know about. First of all, it was the level of the demo that takes up 2GB not every level. Second, the pauses during gameplay for saving will not be in the final version, the reason this happens in the demos is because they are not streaming it, they are loading bit by bit, in the final version the game will be streaming from the blu-ray disc, thus no loading pauses (And yes this was told to the public by a Guerilla dev). And last, because they loaded the level (demo) from an external source, the frame rate had to be dropped for the demonstration, in the final version they are trying to run it at 60FPS. So yeah please stop posting BS that you have no clue about.

IMO, I don't care what they're using or how much, if the game is shaping up the way it is now, then I support them with whatever techniques they may use. Amazing how one can complain about a game with this sort of production quality. Little gripes like Blu-Ray this, DVD that, just don't matter. Game looks spectacular, period.

Obviously they are not compressing the data... which is due more to a limitation on the hardware probably. If the cell doesn't have to uncompress data on the fly it takes less juice from the RAM and CPU to play the game.

Works out well though, the screenies for this game are making it out to be best looking PS3 title yet. (not hard to do considering the other titles though)

What I've noticed about 1080 is that it really hurts the crispness of the picture, it just seems to make everything blur more than it should. So I'm happy they chose 720, it should make for a better quality experience.

Because of the sheer quantity of things on screen at any given time on Killzon, the developer stated that the game will run at 30fps. The game has MOTION BLUR, so don't worry folks it will look as smooth as butter to you and me.

Now, this is one this is one real game for Blu-ray. Sor far, Resistance and Heavenly Sword used Blu for HD movies or sound effects or other things but Killzone 2 is THE technical showcase of all PS3 features, from hardware to Blu-ray to Sixaxis. Can't wait.

anyway, 2 gigs per level sounds like sony hype, if not, then a huge waste of space. the shader materials, from the vids and pics ive seen, don't look any higher rez than Gears' or Halo's (and in fact, worse), so it's a little confusing. They must be using 0 compression or simply wasting a ton of space. good luck with those 5 minute loading screens.

i saw some new vids on gametrailers. the AI looks to be dumb as the first game, and the control mechanics looked awfully clunky, especially with that half-asses cover system ripped strait from Gears. KZ2 might turn out good in the end, but KZ1 sure wasn't. and Halo and Gears are going to destroy it. no contest. any diehard shooter fan will tell u.

All you FPS360 fanBOYS should look around cuz this is just the start! These games are early in the PS3 life cycle and compared to Gears of War they have made bigger strides faster then the 360! Gears of War came out almost a full year (Nov05 360 release Nov06 Gears of War) after the 360 release and its still your bench mark game 9 months later!

How many times do I have to tell these PS3 fans. First off Killzone 2 is way to long, and is going to suck, like the first one did. Medal Gear Solid 4 is going to be a huge hit. Lair sucked. Warhawk sucked. Motorstorm was OK. PS3 has no games, face it. Call Of Duty 2, Oblivion, and you know Bioshock is going to win Game Of The Year. If not Halo 3, but no PS3 game. XBOX 360 is the way to go if you want games. If you want to watch movies get a PS3.

Its funny to see all the 360 arm chair developers on here touting the shortcomings of the PS3, stating that the only reason the levels are 2 Gigs each is because they didn't compress. I don't know how anyone could surmise that from the information given in this article but I guess whatever it takes to deny that this game will be huge and that the limitations of the 360 would make it very difficult is what you have to keep telling yourself.
Consider the fact that the ENTIRE environment is rendered from the onset of the level something GOW didn't do, or the level of detail, or the special effects, or the sound (7.1), etc. Then it could be possible that the levels are truly huge and that even compressed fully would take up a lot of space.
Its funny how the same arguments emerge generation after generation, like DVD is not needed, and it became the standard, same with CD-ROM. This game is a testament to that fact, and it will continue being a fact for the video game industry long after we have stopped playing them.
As I have said countless times before, Sony knows what its doing, and it has been doing it well for a long time. I feel they made a good decision with their current hardware, and we will see this paying off in the near future.
Its a testament to Sony's influence when people who don't even own a PS3 comment on its stories more than on the ones for their own system. I think that says something about their confidence in what the future holds for their console, but in all honesty, if I were them, I would worry too.

Not sure why people would want to come in on this topic and turn it into which system is best and the the whole xbox sucks ps3 rules or ps3 sucks 360 rules. The amount of time and funds this game has had(remember this is a sony game develpoment team so they have had the top help and a lot of funds) im sure this game is going to look amazing. Now we cant say how well it will play until later and again it all depends on what game type you like(I like the more thoughtful fps than the run around everywhere shooting anything that moves). I know there will be screen shots up compairing this game to others with outstanding graphics and Im sure it will stack up against any game out there but I think where this game will probably shine most is the amount of stuff happening on screen at the same time which you wont be able to see on a screen still. Remember folks that this game im sure will shine in atleast the looks department like I said the amount of time(this has been in dev for a LONG time) and teh funds have almost insured this game will be atleast good if not one of the best of its kind. Bigger does not always mean better, get the gameplay right and I will be happy playing the game. I still have no idea why the devs are saying that this game is still in pre pre alpha, should it not be in alpha stage seeing as its 2 years into dev already, unless they have just created this level now. Isn't this game getting a public beta as well and its coming out next year, then it must be approaching the pre-beta stage.

It would probably be 5GB if they added color and if the PS3 resources ("it's a myth it's a myth") didnt bottem out before they added the color red, blue or green (as in grass) Wonder what the loading times will be and how many GB will have to be installed to the hard drive first before you can even play?

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
