Title needs to be adjusted to refer to this as Americas sales. This is not going to hold true when you factor in EMEA and APJ. However, despite that, this is pretty big news for MS and they should be proud of what they have accomplished with the 360. I've been an avid Xbox fan since the original. I do worry that perhaps they are losing some focus though. When the original Xbox released, it was more about gamer cred and being accepted as a viable member in platform sales. I think perhaps that success has caused MS to shift focus away from a Gamer's first mentality to just another business group. Decisions like lost developers, less focus on first party, Live restrictions, etc are contrary to the hunger that the Xbox division originally showed. In any event congrats MS, i fully expect that they will finish the year strong and hopefully they will come back to their roots in the near future.

And the fan boys say the 360 is dead. you have to give it to MS this gen they have pulled off what alot of people did not think was possible which was battle sony on a even ground for sales. Lets hope they keep it us as good sales on all the consoles keeps them all on top of there game.

So 360 is dominating in USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, and AU. And PS3 WAS dominating in Italy, france, Spain, and Japan. I think I read the Germans are split.

Europe needs to learn how to count, so we can see how the sales REALLY are over there, getting sick of all the speculating.

...the PS3 was closing the gap....BAM!, the 360 lays the smack down. Sony will finish this gen in 3rd place, no doubt. The day the next XBOX or Wii 2 launches, this generation is over ; dragging it out for another 5 years, like with the PS2, won't change the facts.

I need to get my popcorn, because this is going to be interesting to watch.

On a completely sane note, I'm glad to see the industry as a whole holding its own. It says a lot in this worldwide economy that people are spending their limited entertainment dollars on video games.

I'm thinking of selling my ps3 as I play my 360 more right now and the ps3 got GT5 delayed but good games are coming out next year, but not all them interest me. I just love how the 360 has the MP games and some exclusive, the online for arcade games and then online play. How you get gamerscore and with profiles and then your buddies have profiles and earn achievements like me or help me get achievements. The ps3 has trophies, but no profiles. I don't know but I think the 360 is going to survive, the ps3 ain't no threat and I don't see how.

Whoever wrote this article has a serious hard-on for the Xbox brand because the whole thing was written like some sort of analyst love letter to the console. It will be interesting to see what Kinect does but Fable 3 is not a major seller and it doesn't move hardware.

Even still, the 360 has done great the last four months in America and the article shoudl be a bit more clear on that front because it implies that it is doing this on a global scale and it is not.

And despite the fact that Sony and Nintendo didn't release their numbers themselves, I doubt they would have even if they had been in the top spot for the month. The only reason Greenberg released the Xbox data is because he likes to read/hear himself just like every other Microsoft exec in a position like that. If they had been at the bottom they still would have put out the numbers and spun them like they were made out of solid gold and diamonds. Shit got old three years ago.

I think that it is amazing that after 5 years this thing is stilling selling like it is even in the midst of competition from Sony an Nintendo. Sony has no reasons to drop their heads. They have come a long way from when the system first came out. You can argue the the US isn't the world but it is the largest market by far. It is the most important market in the world. M$ by hook or by crook seems to have a solid business plan that is paying off for them. I am not completely sold on Kinect but that thing is going to sell like crazy. It seems like something that the Japanese will be crazy about.

Microsoft knows why they are doing. And for all you butthurt ps3 fanboys who claim that sales dosn't matter. Why the hell are you even in here then?
