Sony has contacted MCV to confirm the exact situation. The licence of the current PSP dev kits expires on November 15th. The company, however, WILL be renewing them and when that is complete the sale of current PSP kits will resume as normal.

that sounds to me like they have a new kit nearly ready for release. that doesn't suggest to me that they are stopping PSP1 production
just to think we still have awesome games coming in for PSP, there is PE:3rd Bday, Dissidia 2, FF Agito.
when the PSP time is done I think it wil be remembered for sticking around on the handheld market, every other company failed, well other than nintendo because they have always had the handheld industry
