WorthPlaying: Ubisoft Kinect Preview Event

WorthPlaying writes: "On Tuesday afternoon, Ubisoft had a Kinect preview event where they demoed four upcoming games. I had the chance to stop by and check them out firsthand, as well as playing with the Kinect sensor.

Kinect is cool, but it also has a number of limitations. It is very sensitive to slight movement. In order to make sure everyone stood in the right spot, Ubisoft had tape markers on the floor. If you're not careful, you can easily move out of range, throwing off the game you're playing. In one of the demos I played, your character actually disintegrates if you move out of range of the sensor. People moving around behind you can also be an issue, as the camera will pick them up if they get too close."

I've been waiting for something like Child of Eden since I first fired up Rez in my Dreamcast. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

I think Child of Eden will be good with normal controls, not sold on kinect/move controls.

Will it allow normal controls? Didn't know if CoE was going to be Kinect enabled or Kinect exclusive.

I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.

Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.

But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.
