
Games involving mechs have not had that storied of a history in North America recently. Many people are still waiting for a follow-up in the MechAssault Universe and other games have either not been well received or were never released. One long running Mech-franchise is SquareEnix’s Front Mission. In its long run, only three games have ever been released on this side of the Pacific. The series, known as being a tactical strategy game, has decided to go in a different direction with Front Mission Evolved. This time, the turn-based strategy elements have stepped aside, making way for an all out action game developed by California studio Double Helix Games. This may be a huge departure from its roots and may put off some long time fans, but it’s still a competent game marred only by a few gameplay decisions.
