Never a good sign. They lost Hideki Kamiya, which was arguably the top tier of their talent list. So, seeing this is like the writing on the wall. They got Ninja Gaiden 4 coming, so hopefully that’ll deliver and keep them going.

Not a long of Japanese games experimented with it... I thought MGO, despite having a crappy netcode and very high learning curve was an awesome MP game from Japan, it was rough around the edges, but the core gameplay is unlike anything on the market right now.
