Willits: RAGE DLC coming “soon after launch”

VG247 writes: id Software boss Tim Willits has told VG247 that RAGE’s first DLC will hit soon after the shooter’s release, and that ongoing development of the new IP is being structured to allow “other platform games, sequels and prequels.”

Speaking to Joe Anderson at EG Expo in London last weekend, Willits said simply, “Yes,” when asked if the game would be supported with downloadable content.

“The framework is there, and we plan on supporting the game soon after launch.

“We do think this is an important brand for us and we want to maximise the brand and also let people see that we are committed to this product.”

put the dlc on the game disc so people dont have to pay extra

Raptura5706d ago

but that's the whole point? More money for the developer.

MysticStrummer5705d ago

Damn... they could at least wait a little to try and make it look like the DLC isn't content that should have been included in the first place.

I hope the devs can break away from MS and take their IP's with them in the not to distant future. This entire consolidation and mass industry firings that MS has spearheaded has been nothing but a disaster for everyone except the already rich creatively bankrupt tw@ts at Microsoft.

MS is nothing but a drain on the entire gaming industry and every facet of it.

There is precedent already with bungie separating from Microsoft but I doubt Microsoft will let them go out with their IP’s without paying a huge price

Good for them. From what I hear Microsoft supports it but unfortunately it still doesnt change much but its a step in the right direction. More devs across the entire industry should do this. But regardless, you just love to hate anything Microsoft or xbox. Who's fault is it that sony closed down studios? Who spearheaded that? What i don't understand is that if you hate Microsoft so much why the concern. If this bothers you so much you may want to find another hobby. Free up some of that mental energy for your own well being and stop worrying about shit you cant change.

@FlaggerD care to look at yourself in the mirror, obscure? It's like your 132456th account now, and all of them have you being obsessed with Sony. You just can't handle the fact they literally stomped on Xbox, LMAO! Juggernaut my ass haha. Xbots claiming Expedition 33 winning GotY is a win for Xbox because it was on Game pass is the funniest shit ever LMAO!

Good for them. With AI coming for their jobs and their new corporate overlords working overtime to replace them, it’s a smart move.

Notellin156d ago

It won't be long before Microsoft lays off everyone in gaming and routes that money over into AI.

Time for everyone at Xbox to update the resume and start coming up with Indie game pitches.

The point of unionizing is collective bargaining. Sadly, I do not believe they have any leverage, which is likely why Microsoft isn't impeding them: The investment in AI is gargantuan. We're talking about a data center in Wisconsin that's about 200 city blocks. That is massive and insane.
