Basically no aliasing on the PC version, and appears to have better draw distance + textures. No suprise really.

What hardware do these guys use for the PC? 5870s and i7s or something a little more "fair" in comparison?

Substance1015710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

You dont need top end hardware to beat a console, 4 years old hardware will do just that.

@below

GTX 460 is very powerful, any of the following gpus:

http://www.newegg.com/Produ...

Are more then enough to rock the consoles, these are below the 100usd mark.

@HeroXIV

"What hardware do these guys use for the PC? 5870s and i7s or something a little more "fair" in comparison? "

You'd need that sort of hardware to be playing in Eyefinity aka 3 screens. Leave beating consoles to us 4 year olds.

In all honesty, PCs have been largely beating consoles since GTX 280. I have one and can play i.e. F1 2010 @ 1080p Maxes out without a hitch. Mafia II runs @ nearly 60fps on 1366x768, SFIV @ 1080p 60fps and the list goes on. I have reserved the console games that didn't run smooth on consoles to be played on a PC and as a result I can enjoy the games without distracting technical limitations. i.e. Splinter Cell ConViction, Mafia II and MW2 it's a delight to play them @ 1080p - 60Fps, and most games (except FPS) already have native Xbox 360 controller support so I just plug my TV to my PC and play as if I was in a next (next) gen console. All this with a card that should be around $150 by now.

ProjectVulcan5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

What do you consider 'fair?' You can get 768mb GTX460 for about 120 pounds, or 170 dollars. In about three weeks, that could drop further because AMD release new cards in that segment.

GTX460 768 will utterly obliterate any console port you throw at it coupled with a dual core from the past 4 years. Its a good 5 times as fast as PS3's and 360's GPU. But then of course, its generations newer. Is that really 'fair?' Maybe not, but PC gamers arent complaining.

As for the old chestnut Pc gamers are loners and have to play on a monitor then really, its been dismissed so many times but always brought up again and again. There are many social services that link games on PC and there are dozens of LAN parties year on year.

I personally play most of my PC games on a whacking great HDTV with a wireless 360 pad on the sofa......but some games are just better with a monitor and a mouse. Why restrict yourself to one option with a console, when PC can do both? Avoid the fact Pc games are considerably cheaper and online is free when you put out there the cost of console gaming. Classic console gaming ploy.

Please, please, please......stop this BS argument.

MorganX5710d ago

I've been playing PC games since Choplifter and Zork I on Apple II. Technically, consoles cannot compare, but visually and in motion, sure they can. You cannot come close to the console gaming experience on a PC for anywhere close to $300.

And you're most likely going to be alone on a monitor or laptop with no decent gamepad unless you use the Xbox wireless and adapter.

If you're a geek playing pixels alone, PC is the way to go. You want to actually get away from the monitor and keyboard and relax and have fun with no hiccups, get a console, go in the living room, have a bunch of folks over and do some HD gaming on with the Home Theatre blasting on a 52" LED HDTV.

imvix5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

@MorganX

Sorry but you could easily get a 400-500usd worth machines that would wipe the floor with consoles.

http://www.tomshardware.com...
Theres a 400usd system. Every game bought on console is more expensive, that puts cost in favor of the PC.

InTheKnow5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

...the console wins every time. There are no 2 PC's the same and every PC owner will have a different experience. The 360 costs $150-299 ( PS3 $299 ) and is plug and play with the same experience for the 42+ million 360 owners out there.

In terms of raw horsepower, the PC is the clear winner...who would argue that...lol...but it doesn't matter. PC guys count the pixels and the console gaming community will count the games like Halo Reach, Alan Wake, Gears 3, GT 5 and Killzone 3.

ProjectVulcan5709d ago (Edited 5709d ago )

Pc wins everytime on multiplatform games. The argument is old and settled long ago.

The argument about exclusives is moot when it comes to a topic such as this and irrelevant. Exclusives are about what type of games you like to play. Citing multiple console platform exclusives versus only PC is obviously a stupid argument, just as you wouldnt cite PC, PS3 and 360 exclusives against wii why would you cite PS3, 360 and wii exclusives against a single platform like PC.

Most people that really consider themselves serious gamers are platform agnostic. I certainly am. PC's advantages in this specific relevant case of a DR2 comparison are obvious. Its not difficult to see why people will always game on PC.

multipayer5709d ago

My $300 computer from last fall is playing Dead Rising 2 in 1080p with a GTS250 and 3ghz dualcore... Loading and graphics are miles better than Case 0, which I bought for 360. Consoles just aren't the way developers intended their games to be played at this point in its lifecycle.

STONEY45709d ago (Edited 5709d ago )

"There are no 2 PC's the same and every PC owner will have a different experience. The 360 costs $150-299 ( PS3 $299 ) and is plug and play with the same experience for the 42+ million 360 owners out there."

People like you are the reason we have multiplatform games which look exactly the same, and never take advantage of one consoles strengths. Because you "want it to be fair", and there will be an outrage if one looks better than the other. Gawd, hypocrites here.

"but it doesn't matter. PC guys count the pixels and the console gaming community will count the games like Halo Reach, Alan Wake, Gears 3, GT 5 and Killzone 3."

The fact that alot of us with high-end rigs still play games like Counter-strike and Civilization disproves your point. Obviously if people only cared about graphics, Counter-strike wouldn't still have TONS of people playing (mods are amazing in that game), and Civilization wouldn't have sold past the fourth game.

And the sales of Starcraft 2, AN RTS, a genre which alot of people consider niche, since most of the people now are FPS junkies, would like to have a word with you.

MorganX5709d ago (Edited 5709d ago )

I would never have a box that fugly or huge. I used to do that. I funded ATI and NVIDIA for years with video card upgrade after upgrade. Once I went console, I really only need to upgrade when Intel releases a new architecture. I'm on a 3.16GHz Core 2 Duo with 8 Gig DDR 1333 (running at 1066) and really don't need to go to the iX platform.

I'm have a beautiful Dell OPtiplex 780 Ultra Small Form Factor with 40G OCZ Agility 2 SSD for System, and eSata Acomdata Samurai 500GB (no power needed) for apps and data. I have nother USB external for backup. It's the size of a big dictonary and I could never go back to a ... ... fugly huge box like that. It uses Intel GMA so even though this thing destroys 64-big Photoshop CS5, Plays and Records OTA 1080i HDTV while multitasking with no delay, it cannot play games anywhere near Xbox 360. I'd have to go to a small form factor with low profile PCI Express Low Profile at a minimum to even come close.

Naaah, plus it's uses and $400+ not $299 or in my case $199 (4G 360S with 2 x 8GB microSD class 4).

The games and the experience (XBL, XBLA) make a console the hands down winner for gaming in my book.

Edit: Obviously I bought the cheapest USFF Optiplex 780 I could and upgraded the CPU, Memory, and Lightscribe DVDRW, slimline. Never buy memory and CPU from Dell. Unfortunately, the i Series cannot fit into USFF yet unless I build my own and it's not worth it at the moment.

STONEY45709d ago (Edited 5709d ago )

I don't get what you're complaining about. You realize you don't have to follow that EXACT build, and can just buy a different case that looks nicer?

And $400 is extremely cheap considering amount of stuff you can do with a budget gaming PC over consoles.

MorganX5709d ago (Edited 5709d ago )

Who's complaining? The discussion is PC vs Console (360 please) for gaming. Consoles is clearly best for gaming depsite the PCs ability to push more useless pixels, for a price. And you simply cannot get the same consistent performance for anywhere near the cost $299. And if you settle for a fugly beast of a noisy PC, you still won't get the games or the community/experience. i.e. Nothing out there compares to XBL.

edit: don't forget your OS license cost and antivirus. Well the antivirus is free. Microsoft Security Essentials Rocks!

Cratos87805710d ago

The situation is worse with the Wii.

Most multi-platform games are PC,PS3,X360 only and never get ported to Wii. lol.

Pedobear Rocks5710d ago

They compete by having a price point much much lower than a gaming PC...and for a good chunk of people that lower price point still gives them alot of game to play.

Substance1015710d ago

you could have a gaming for 500usd or upto 2000usd. however even the 500usd pc will play games better then console and the games will be cheaper by a good deal. Dead rising 2 on PC is 20usd cheaper.

ProjectVulcan5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

I usually get by when i buy nearly all the multi format games on PC and save at least 10 pounds on each one. I buy as many as 30 multi titles a year but usually at least 20. Saves me hundreds and hundreds on games. Put it back in PC hardware.

plb5710d ago

PCs also serve more purposes than just playing games.

kevnb5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

its simplicity, alot of marketing, and the fact that most are just pc iliterate. Everyone has a pc, its not that much more to make it a gaming pc.

RedDeadLB5710d ago

Actually, from a normal perspective, the only thing that much different between these two builds is the higher framerate of the PC version. The whole console wars is just nitpicking at it's finest.

4cough5710d ago

What was the point of even comparing the PS3 version??? Everyone knows the PS3 is most inferior like 99% of multiplaform games.

IRetrouk5710d ago

if thats a real pic of him i feel sorry, not just a troll but a nerdy lookin troll.

lucifon5710d ago

Although that stat is total nonsense it is the case with DR2 which is what confuses me. Why have DF picked the PS3 version to compare with the PC version when they already did an article which showed it was the inferior of the 2 console versions - http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

Seems abit stupid, theres nothing to prove.

lucifon5709d ago

Ah just realised they've done one for the 360 vs PC too :)

milknosugar295710d ago

it must be great having all this fantastic processing power in your PCs but no decent games to play on them ;-)

kevnb5710d ago

is that the best you can do? I guess STALKER, Starcraft 2, civ 5, Dead Rising 2, Napoleon Total War, Amnesia Dark Descent etc... are are unplayable. Plus I dont mind multiplat games at all, especially when they are much better on pc.

milknosugar295710d ago

none of them games, asides from civ 5, appeal to me to be honest. some games, take civ 5, for example should only be played on the Pc- am really not looking forward to my dumbed down console version, so will probably not buy it. some games are developed across platforms, which is fine, but some games are designed specifically for the consoles and available only on the console! say what you like about the pc, but you're never going to get hold of wipeout hd, uncharted or any other ps3 exclusive, which im gonna enjoy on my huge fu@k off HD tv!

kharma455709d ago

"but you're never going to get hold of... any other ps3 exclusive"

Of course not, hence the word exclusive :| And of course you can connect a PC to an HDTV no problem if it's size that matters, so that's a pretty null point.

evrfighter5709d ago

trust me as an owner of all platforms and a pc gamer first.

PC gamers and 360 gamers are not missing out on anything. The so called zomg exclusives would not appeal to most pc gamers to begin with. Uncharted is meh. I had to force myself to finish gow3 in order to trade it in. I traded in Heavy Rain on day 2. MGS4 never got anymore play time after I ran into a cutscene which clocked at the 45 minutes mark (seriously I mean Really? is that necessary?).

The only game worth playing on the console that the pc will be getting down the way anyway is Red Dead. If only for the singleplayer. Online is horrible.

kharma455709d ago (Edited 5709d ago )

You're as bad as 4cough up above...

Letros5709d ago

Lol, so they don't appeal to you therefore they don't exist?

Interesting timing. This retrospective was released just a few days ago: https://youtu.be/Et-cKSrWuc...

Darksonic222115d ago

Ah no, I just felt like writing it as I started playing the game again and wanted to offer up my opinions 😁

InklingGirl2115d ago

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title.

2114d ago
MadLad2115d ago

Complacency and new teams who didn't understand what made the series special.

Darksonic222115d ago

Seems like there was just a ton of infighting aswell and so many more issues. Honestly sadly Dead Rising 5 before it was cancelled sounded nothing like dead rising, nothing learnt from. Dr4 at all.

ColdSin2115d ago

DR4 should have not been made anyways. DR3 closed everything nicely.

darthv722115d ago

Check out the vid i posted above.

MadLad2115d ago

They're a solid channel. I always click on their vids, unless it's a series/game I simply have no interest in.

RamRod882115d ago

They took away the depth and charm of the game that made it fun and interesting, and made it into a generic zombie killing game.

DeadManMMX2115d ago

This was the series the got me to buy an Xbox 360. The first one was so good. It still had horror elements. As it went on it became kind of a parody. Never forget getting Zombie Genecider achievement and then restarting the game to get the Mega Buster. That thing was monstrous against enemies.

Gamerking822115d ago

But you never know it might be RISING again someday .

haha yes it may....good one.
