No messing about, let's get straight to it: Sonic creator Yuji Naka told CVG this morning, "I'm hoping to work on Dreamcast 2".

If sega came back i recon they would kill ms on console for good the dreamcast was way ahead of its time bit like last gens ps3 but sufford a bad fate like the ps3 would of if they never kept grinding but hey sony is much bigger then sega ever was

JawsofRegret5706d ago

You think it would kill the xbox, huh? Well, I think it would kill the PSP. Why? I don't know. Why did you say what you said?

dangert125706d ago (Edited 5706d ago )

If Sega was to make a console They would have alot of exclusive worth play more so then the xbox and sega always made good hardware maybe a few price faults but they wearnt ripping people off like ms with the xbox and i reckon gaming online would be free on the dreamcast 2 if it was ever made so more people would turn round and be like

Free on
playstation
nintendo
dreamcast

yearly fee on xbox :S

i'm sure if you have an original dreamcast you can use facebook a better version of facebook n twitter then the xbox offers plus loads of other sites the 360 don't....dame i cant stand microsoft but dont get me wrong i have nothing against the xbox it has a few good games i just cant stand microsoft or xbox lie fees

not like the xbox games have extra online features or anything

ElementX5706d ago

Why did you bring up online fees in an article about Dreamcast 2?

gamingdroid5706d ago

I highly doubt Dreamcasts online play would be free after MS demonstrated that people still are willing to pay a fee to play online.

If anything, PSN seems to not have garnered the PS3 that many extra users being a free network and all? On top of that, it seems PSN isn't able to support itself being free.

dangert125706d ago (Edited 5706d ago )

because it all connects i did't say fuck microsft fees randomly out the blue and nah how are sega and are people really stupid enough to pay for online twice?

ps3 has the most online user via console what are you talking about lol xbox only sold so much because of rrod i had 2 xbox's then got a ps3 for gt5 then realised the ps3 is WAAAY better and xbox is a little skank gold members still pay for everything after they've unlocked there own connection

gamingdroid5706d ago (Edited 5706d ago )

We are talking about active users. I could care less about 15 million in-active users that created their account online or use the PSP when I'm looking for PS3 games on PSN.

There is a reason why Sony doesn't disclose the breakdown of the different user accounts applied to what platform on PSN.

The only thing stupid about paying to play online is the people complaining about it because clearly a large portion of the users feel it is worth it.

I don't know why I always take the troll bait!!!

lightningsax5706d ago (Edited 5706d ago )

I'm completely selfish in wanting a Dreamcast 2 to happen. It would allow Sega, for whatever amount of time that system survives, to bring back their creative people and put out innovative AAA titles again. Jet Set Radio, Rez, and Space Channel 5 all came out of the Dreamcast, and JSRF, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Gunvalkyrie were only on the Xbox because the Dreamcast folded too soon.

I could care less if it failed or succeeded. Imagine, if you will, Sega actually putting effort behind their first party titles again, if only for a couple of years. Seriously. It would kick every body part imaginable. Sure, some of those guys are running independent companies right now, but they'd at least pitch in with a great title. At the very least, Platinum would expand their ranks.

And to quote Drunken Gamers Radio: "Chu Chu Rocket, you b****es!!"

gamingdroid5706d ago

Sega's issue was that it was badly managed combined with their patriotic views of only using domestic products.

That is how they ended up with the archaic VR chip for graphcis. You get enough of those and that is enough to kill a company. They are just lucky to be around still!

blackpanther255705d ago

regardless of whether xbox live is worth it or not. People who want to play online don't have an option. Thats all i want to say about that

gamingdroid5705d ago

They do.

It's called the PS3! Strangely though, we don't see a mass exodus of people moving away from the Xbox Live.

Point being, people do see value in Xbox Live and continue to pay a subscription fee.

elmaton985705d ago

The sega dreamcast was great they should do it to get Microsoft out of the gaming for good, I mean I don't want to be paying just to to start up my system, let be real to every xbox fanboy, you can justify the xbox 360 any way you want but Microsoft is getting every penny out of your pocket without you realising it. I rather have a PS3 which is better(live is the only good thing about it but on the worst console ever created)

zeeshan5705d ago

It will never happen. That is his personal opinion but I am sure it'll never happen but in case I end up being wrong some day and if Sega does pull a miracle, I'll buy it DAY ONE. No wait, I'll pre-order it day one! Sega consoles were always the best and ahead of their time!

The innovations SEGA made with hardware were extremely pleasing to me. They had a great first-party and meaningful exclusives that actually took advantage of the peculiarities of their consoles. I'd snap up a new SEGA console in a heartbeat. Their business might have gone sour, but they had never disappointed me as a gamer.

chaos-lockheart5706d ago

Please no more consoles, im broke

DigitalAnalog5706d ago

The Yakuza, Valkyria, Bayonetta, the SONIC franchises and OMGL all the top Japanese devs (Shinji, Suda and Hideki Kamiya) would make it all exclusive for this console.

That, and what could possibly be........ the coming of SHENMUE 3.

I would sell my kidney for this.

-End statement

No...if its anything like the Sonic abortions of late...please dont..

SoapShoes5706d ago

Uh the last Sonic game Naka worked on was Heroes and that was an alright game. Adventures were the best and he worked on those as well.

ThatArtGuy5706d ago

All the good Sonic games were made for Sega machines. Something to think about.

xXKingofStingXx5705d ago

Thus why i said "Of Late" and there has not been a good Sonic game since the 16 bit era at least in my opinion. If you consider Adventures good then most likely that's where you started playing Sonic or were just hooked by the then nice graphics cause if you consider that good then you must think shadow the hedgehog or Sonic the Hedgehog (PS3, 360) are master pieces.

Anyway it don't really matter cause its like the old Zelda argument where newer gamers consider Ocarina of time the greatest in the series but old school gamers consider the original to be a timeless masterpiece, all comes down to preference and just like i prefer the legend of Zelda over ocarina, I'll take Sonic's 1-3 anyday over the junk that came afterward.

8-bit5706d ago

Because you never owned a Sega console in your life

mugoldeneagle035706d ago

I still have my Dreamcast plugged in as we speak, right next to my PS3 & Genesis. One of my favorite systems. I would buy a Dreamcast 2 day 1, even if I know it would never be able to compete head to head w/ the big 3.

DAY 1

NoBias5706d ago

I'd buy day 1 as well. No questions.

stragomccloud5705d ago (Edited 5705d ago )

I loved the Dreamcast. But, I just think that 3 consoles on the market is enough.

That said, if released, I'd buy Dreamcast 2 on day one no doubt.

Anywhoo... I think the Dreamcast was definitely the best console for fighting games.

What Happened To… Yuji Naka

Gary Green said: Yuji Naka is an iconic Japanese game designer and programmer. However, he is also a discredited team manager and an infamous convicted criminal. He is the co-creator of the Sonic the Hedgehog series and was the president of Sega’s Sonic Team until his departure in 2006. Naka is sometimes credited in his early years using the codename ‘YU2’.

jznrpg300d ago

Ego/xenophobia seems to have been a big problem for him plus the insider trading was obvious. He did make some great games though

shinXseijuro299d ago

I’m pretty sure they all share news with each other the big heads are all friends . It’s probably some yakuza stuff on the inside I’m telling you it’s deep

1Victor300d ago

in Japanese society your reputation is everything and if he didn’t have any money saved more than likely he will have a hard time getting a job

TheColbertinator300d ago

He was running on obsolete ideas and poor management after Sonic Team. I respect his Sega work tremendously and hold it in highest regard but Naka never personally oversaw another hit like Sonic the Hedgehog which propelled Sega to challenge Nintendo head to head at one point.

Pyrofire95300d ago

He was a bad guy in the bad way

Half our politicians or more are just as guilty lol

lodossrage1043d ago

Yeah, the two-tier justice system is a global issue, not just a problem in the U.S.

If you're wealthy, popular, or a politician, the worst that happens to you is a slap on the wrist. For the rest of us.....you get the idea

Demetrius1043d ago

Ikr or if you're a well liked celebrity smh, crazy how they think they're gonna live forever, a lot of these politicians need to get humbled

Sonic is the spirit animal Yuji conjured up when he was daydreaming of committing crimes and running away from the police.

Nerdmaster1043d ago

And than came Tails because just running away wasn't enough. Flying away would be an even better idea.
And Knuckles if he was actually caught and imagined himself climbing the prison walls to escape.
And Amy if he needed to seduce the guards to... ok, I'll stop here :P

Inverno1043d ago

Good, jail time for this is unnecessary.
