Motion gaming could disappoint this holiday‎

No amount of jumping or arm swinging will revive the $60.4 billion global video game industry this holiday season.

Motion game controllers from Microsoft Corp and Sony Corp hitting store shelves in time for the holiday rush may stir curious video game fans, but disappoint investors and retailers betting on a recovery.

Why? Are you anti-gaming?

Gamers support gaming.

seinfan5713d ago

I don't support peripherals that hinder the gaming experience. And why should I only call myself a gamer upon your merits? I don't like the Wii, I don't like motion controls, and I prefer the 360 and PS3 over PC. I buy multiple games a year, I spend about 15 to 20 hours a week (when on break from college) playing games. I think I can consider myself a gamer and still not like where the industry may be headed.

Motion controls don't hinder the gaming experience. Sure there are games that are motion only, but you know that when you buy it. For other games, its another control scheme. You don't have to use it at all if you don't like it. I enjoy Move so far for RTS (R.U.S.E.) and shooters, works well for me. Same can be said for Kinect if they do the same (extra control scheme for various games). Extra options that are free are always nice. Sure people will create shovelware crap for the market, but some bright developers can create some great games with new tec.

I don't care how precise and responsive the controls are, or even how good the game is. The motion controls themselves are a liability. Honestly, how long can you stay comfortable using a motion controller? Would you be willing to do all-nighters constantly moving your arm or wrist every 3 seconds? And it's even worse if you play a shooter because you'd probably have to be moving your arm non-stop. I'm sorry, but if I can't even tolerate HOW I'm playing the game, the game itself won't be enjoyable. People on here that bought Move and liked it had mentioned that their arms were sore after playing prolonged sessions. Why would I want to put myself in that situation? That's like carpal tunnel waiting to happen.

the only way to answer that question is too use a motion controller...
I can easily play a hour of table tennis with move...

I can see his point ( he is a lazy person give him a break) my arms were sore from playing an action game if you were to use one of the gun attachments for a shooter i am sure you could sit in a chair infront of the tv and it wouldn't be sore
I hated 1st person shooters and untill they make one move specific I really don't see it being intregrated well but I see true potential for sure
the sad thing is this is an article about industry woes ( come on quit beating a dead horse everyone is strugglinng not just game companies) I don't see motion controlls effecting the bottom line for game companies right now for sure but I do see it as a possible boon in the future

Relientk77586d ago

That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.

Guess that submarine should’ve used move controllers instead of logitech
