Most of you will likely be able to tell me what Devil May Cry’s Dante looks like. From his snowy white hair to his dual pistols, scarlet jacket and black boots, the leading man in Capcom’s longstanding hack n’ slash series is certainly one of the most recognisable figures in the video game world. With such a memorable mug and loyal following, you’d probably think that the plucky protagonist was very much safe from a reworking, but with new developer Ninja Theory helming the wheel on the next instalment: “DmC”, Dante’s new appearance is a far stretch away from the one we all know and love.

It's important in life to maintain a broad palette when it comes to culture and the arts. Hideo Kojima agrees, as he continues to use video games like Death Stranding to introduce people to music and other elements they might not otherwise discover.

Mojang has partnered with Merlin Entertainments to build the world's first Minecraft theme park in the UK.

A three-episode live-action adaptation of the first two Yakuza video games will debut Tuesday, March 17 exclusively IGN. Each episode is about an hour long and will stream on IGN.com and IGN’s YouTube channel.
The new Dante looks like he's Two seconds away from crying - No pun intended. He just looks off. He looks like the kind of kid who steals cartons of cigarettes and uses his mothers blood pressure prescription money for candy and pork rhines too. I swear, Ninja Theory hired the worst artist to render him. Like, the same guy who draws the knock off cereal mascots, that's the same guy we're talking about here.
The Coco Roo Kangaroo artist.
I think I am one of the few people who really disliked the Devil May Cry series. Here's to hoping Ninja Theory can make a successful break from the monotous hack and slashing.
It's an age old story with reboots in general; "Waahh!! They changed it I dun like it anymorez!!!111!!11!"
is the only that will tell me Capcom decided to make the next DMC themselves, not make it a reboot, and go back to bad-ass Dante.
Otherwise, I'm sick of these bs articles that discuss these topics. There's too many of them, and we all know DmC is the reason they're being written/posted. So unless it's something tangible and informs me that Ninja Theory and their garbage use of Unreal Engine 3 are off the job, then I don't want to read it.
(That being said, if you guys are interested, I won't tell you not to read it! Just saying I won't. I respect that some people out there are still open to discussing the topic, even though I am not.)
I am a long time DMC fan. I just pretend that no.2 never existed and its one of the best series out there in my mind. I can understand why people dislike the series because of gameplay being monotonous since the games have a lowered entry/learning bar for new players that allows every battle/situation/boss finished with a few set of moves. However playing DMC on the harder levels and scoring well is close to an artform. Getting good a DMC (beyond jump canceling) and beating it on its hardest levels makes it one of the most enjoyable games series I can think of. It is a constant challege and you can drop the game for a month and have to relearn everything the next time you play. For me DMC3/4 have massive amounts of replay because of the steep difficulty.
That being said I believe the majority of the drive for DMC comes from its most loyal fans. Sure there are people that pick it up and play it on Devil Hunter and never touch it again, but there are people like me that love the entire series continue to play them today. (spent 2 hours in bloody palace last night)
I hate the new Dante. DMC4 ended with an open spot and a finger cross for a new game and as a loyal fan I'm really looking for a continuation and not a refresh of the series. Also as an American I really hope that Capcom realizes that Dante does not need any "westernization" and that he is as much of a figurehead for their brand as Ryu, Chun-li, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine.
To sum it up:
I'm a loyal fan of the series since the beginning, and I believe a game made for hardcore gamers is driven by the longtime fans vs. potentially new ones. Drastic changes to Dante or the series will alienate the long time fans and make us skeptical on buying the game eliminating word of mouth and overall excitement for a new DMC game, which might effect sales. I really hope Capcom realizes that DMC needs nothing more than updated moves and weapons, a new good story, more Dante than DMC4, Directed by Hideki Kamiya, and some new ShootieHG tracks. Possibly an older Nero as well since the Devil Bringer was great.
