Please don't forget that Bioshock is UE3, and I also looked in the ini, it looked alot like the old UT2004 ini with some adds and changes.
UE3 is a PC/360/PS3 engine so it isn't too weird.

Not my type of game, but I have to swallow my pride a bit and give credit where credit is due. This game is masterfully crafted. Would be good to see it on PS3

First of all, let me say that I really do believe BioShock will come to the PS3 some time next year.

However, this doesn't have to mean anything. BioShock is built on Unreal Engine 3 which is a multiplatform engine for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. It's quite possible that the configuration file simply contains some generic UE3 settings put there by Epic or whoever, this doesn't have to be specific to BioShock in any way.

But I repeat, I think BioShock might come out for the PS3 eventually.

Don't read too much into it. It might have been an early config file that was never cleaned up. Hurray if it comes on PS3, just don't expect an announcement for a very long time.

From the last 2k game I seen on the ps3 it was NBA 2k7 which was great so im not expecting a crappy port.

It look like referral to the engine used rather than the game to me. Though that is not saying it won't turn up on the PS3

no denying the evidence I suppose, its possible PS3 version was at some stage of development before it was put on hold or maybe canceled(say MS paid them something). After playing a little bit of the game(killed a mad cosmetic doctor, its more fun playing with auto aim turned off, that way you don't feel spoonfed), I totally wouldn't mind if Bioshock came to largest audience possible(heck even Wii if that were actually possible, but no UE3 for it). Innovation like this certainly deserves all it can get. As for which version is better, I dont give a damn the game is way above such petty bs. There is just so much to explore, I spent more than 4 hours hacking and listening and I havent even finished 2 levels. This game personally is the best game I have ever played since Half Life 1(I have prefer FPS).

Bioshock for Killzone 2?

The code doesn't mention Bioshock at all, and most likely is boilerplate code that gets put into all games that "could" be multiplatform, so as to not reinvent the wheel every time with every line of code. Software re-use is done everywhere possible to save $$ and time.

I agree with whoever above--my copy for 360 says PC/360 only.. I'm on the second level, and it rocks. Definitely pick it up for your PC (or break down and get a 360 Core) to play it (or find someplace to rent a console). But don't let some bias against a particular console prevent you from trying this sweet game. The same could be said for MGS4 (if that's your type of game). If it goes the PS3 eventually, great, but I wouldn't hold my breath. gCM

I just got my limited edition copy of BioShock today (The big daddy figure looks amazing BTW. I'm keeping it in it's plastic case so that it's value goes up over time) and on the box it says "Only on Xbox 360 and Windows".

But only time will tell.

The way PS3 development's been going for most games, I wouldn't be surprised if they were INITIALLY planning it, and then it got canned due to development problems and not-so-stellar sales.

It's just data entered into a text file. Like the stuff we're typing now. I used to have to dig through all kinds of crap like that when I helped people do a "DOS-install" of Windows XP (not pretty, over 5000 files in the i386 directory). I watched as files copied slowly over dos' poor performance (even with smartdrv.exe running) and I usualy came across files that would suggest that MS kept older versions of their software and just re-visioned it to look like a WinXP (or "Whistler" as it's known internally) program or file. This is just a good example of what I posted on some forum a while back: that sometimes there's too much code to sort through and that some developers just store their whole project on the optical disc just to get it done.

You should probably read the parenthesis as "for example" - the config ini file says "Console ([for example] XBox360, PS3) specific settings". Why has no one asked why console settings are included in a PC .ini file anyway? That text likely should not be there at all, so why would you believe that the "PS3" part should be there? It probably comes from a template, and the engineer failed to delete it - I work in software development, happens all the time....

It's probably better off being released later because we have enough games coming out on the PS3 already. And then when Bioshock does get released on PS3 it's going to probably perform better such as how Oblivion did and all the other games that come out later.

I doubt it'll come to PS3, however if it does, it'll probably be the same game. Enchanted Arms is the only game I know of that also became PS3. Oblivion, GRAW, Rainbox Six, all those titles you mention didn't have the "Only on" mark.

If it did come to PS3, it's still going to be old news as far as video games go. Why wait 8 or more months for a port? I'm sure we'll hear about it being exclusive (still) on 360 and PC at GC. Up until june it was reported exclusive. In interviews they said something like at this point they're only working on 360 Bioshock. Could be they were waiting for MS to purchase exclusive rights.

We all knew that BioShock was coming to PS3, just like Fear, did, Just like oblivion, just like GRAW, just like Enchanted Arms, ect. ect., But the bottom line is I already got this game on PC and it runs really nice and my PC is by no means top of the line nor did it cost me that much to get it up to next gen standards, I updated my gfx card to run CS-Source way back when and havent changed it since, and I run gears and bioshock seemlessly, haha...dont make me lol....360 fanboys must not know anything about PC's if they think it costs an arm and a leg to run Bioshock at 30fps....If anything BioShock will be better on PS3 because it will have have new content....

if the game does come out at a later date for the PS3, it's a good thing. Because if it came out the same time as the x360 then it probably would have been a crappy port anyway. It also gives the developers more time to optimize the unreal engine with the PS3 anyway.

But that may happen next year. I just bought the DAMN game today. It says "only on xbox 360 and windows". I personally dont think the game would appear ever on the PS3. Not because of the PS3 cant handle it. Its because BIOSHOCK is just an amazing game to MS to let it go. I believe MS payed 2K a lot of money.

The game is really amazing and it deserves all the 10's. Some times in my two hour plus of gameplay I believe the darn game is underated. WOW!! An AMAZING game. The graphics are really better than those found in Gears. The water effects are incredible. This game is really a high value gem. I JUST CANCELLED MY LAIR pre order just to play this game. I have LAIR nearly payed, but with all the bad reviews I think Im going to wait until Heavenly Sword.

The only fault I found in this game as with Gears and almost everything UEngune powered...there just too few enemies on screen at once. Seems I played TOO MUCH RESISTANCE. I think the only way this would come to PS3 is if 2K didn't see a big return on this game. And with the 360 games attach rate and large install base I don't see that happening.

Though i would like BioShock on the PS3, i wouldnt play it, but it'd be great for the console. Bioshock was never confirmed to be never coming to PS3, was even planned and in development for it at one point and is EVEN ON PC. I don't see any cell phone or movie deals from MS for Bioshock.

To me this sounds like Engine information (UE3) rather than anything to do with the game. Just some settings to do with streaming information of the disk. Not really confirmation in anyway shape or form tbh. This exact same block will probably turn up in the Gears ini file

this still amounts to rumorville to me, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was released on the PS3. As others have mentioned, it uses the unreal engine (multi-platform), which could explain it. last fall the game was declared 360/pc exclusive, but exclusivity is pretty nebulus anymore.

I think it would be pretty dumb for the Bioshock developers not to go multi platform. There's a lot more money to be made on the other systems.

hmm.. i dont think this really confirms much except the fact that they did start a ps3 version. maybe it was dropped, maybe not. we know as much now as we did before.

but i have always believed and still do believe that this game is coming to ps3.

i love to ahead the 360 will keep on given gamers new games, when ps3 gamers hae to wait 8 mounths to get it for example GRAW, new to ps3 fans but old for 360 fan. so ps3 fans stop play behind and play in front or try to keep up with the 360 fans
