As I kept playing, I knew in my heart there was nothing inherently wrong with the game. The controls work fine; it doesn’t suffer from long load times. Still, as much as I knew I should be loving every minute, I just couldn’t get into Cladun. It just wasn’t fun. But why? I wrestled with it myself. I wasn’t sure what to do. After all, one of the primary reasons we play games is to be entertained, so if a game fails to entertain, does it fail as a game as a result? As you can see, I felt stuck."

That still gets stuck in my head whenever I think about it.
Some good PSP nostalgia. People might not realize that it was the starting point for some pretty cool series.

For those of us who grew up in the Super Nintendo and Sega genesis era, we have a soft spot for old school games, the ones that remind us of our childhood and give us that old timey feel. Sometimes those games are still great and fun to this day, others usually are not. Cladun X2 is a game that gives us that old game feel while making us feel like it’s something new. It’s a refreshing take on top down RPG’s that shouldn’t be over looked.

The Scoop: 8-Bit graphics and music meets modern dungeon crawling for the casual crowd in NIS’s downloadable title for the Sony PlayStation Portable.
I think this worked for Half Minute Hero well enough, but I don't think this retro style is something people should be trying to recreate all the time.
The reason you didn't enjoy this game is the reason why I can't get into MMORPGs ever. :( I'm sad it applied to this game though, I got the Half-Minute Hero style vibe as well, which I dug.
