I miss the fact that a game came out and it counted be changed. Since I am a huge an of finding exploits in games it was nice when it couldn't be patched and take the fun, I made of the game, out. Its like Milton Bradley coming in and saying you cant play that board game with house rules... piss off and let me play what you made how I want.

this of course excludes fixing bugs and exploits for modern multiplayer games although I do hate all the tweaking and "Game balancing" they do now. that trend needs to stop too. I dont mind them fixing bugs but stop finger f***ing the game to death with nerfs and buffs.

I remember being amazed by so many games in the 90s. Every time I was stuck on something I had to keep at it, or see if a friend could help me. Now it's too easy to just jump online. I know one (possibly crazy) thing I miss is the bootup screens for the games and systems. Nowadays, they aren't as original. I liked the iguana in N64 games, the "S-E-G-A....", boot screen for the PS1 and many others. Games that were released weren't broken and patched later. Replay value was something almost every game had. Most games were a decent length. It was definitely a good time to be a gamer back then!

I remember getting all my information about upcoming games and systems from magazines like EGM and GamePro, or waiting at Babbages or EB at the mall early Saturdays to pick up a new release. It made things eventful than today when everything gets leaked and you can just preorder on Amazon the day of announcement. I kinda miss that, then I kinda don't.

I just get angry when good games die off either from licensing, going a new direction with a franchise, or just not being able to fund them anymore... My short list of personal casualties: Knights of the old republic went mmo, Nfl2k5 ends because of licensing, Shenmue 3 never got a final game, Wwf no mercy engine dropped for the inferior smack down engine, Phantasy star went online basically never to get a proper part 5, streets of rage lays dormant, and I could go on... I need an alternate universe where NFL blitz is not an EA property and I'm playing Kotor 3 with the outcast and Revan on the outer rim taking on the Sith.

i think i remember blowing up air on the cartridge when we had trouble making it run heheheh

and theres one time i did drop one cartridge (cant remember what it is) and then theres a round battery popping out of it

Back then getting mortal kombat(1-3) fatalities from game magazines. It was a real gaming adventure in the 90s

the Sega Saturn did online play and 704x540 resolution at 60FPS in 1994. just started playing Saturn games with an HDMI upscaler through RGB, looks arcade quality. pretty mind blowing. the N64 does RGB at 480p but you have to mod it. still. wow.

The 90s were awesome great games no dlc , great music and no social media
