IO Interactive has had some big things to celebrate this fall, including the 25th anniversary of its "Hitman" franchise.
IO Interactive art director Rasmus Poulsen tells Pocket Tactics how Patrick Gibson's James Bond is influenced by unexpected places in 007 First Light.
I mean as someone who grew up playing all the 007 ganes, this fits right in. The games have always been like that. Start slow and sneaky, sh#t hits the fan and it turns onto an action set piece.
I really hope in the future any other Bond games made by different developers will use their own Bond and Universe rather than just using whoever is playing Bond in the films. It's a video game, they should have the freedom to do their own take rather than being restricted by what the films are doing.
Hopefully outfits and Easter eggs found in this game won't just all be of Craigs era, really want to see some original Sean Connery stuff.

Sony is falling really low to promote an uncharted clone.. this is unimaginable 4 years ago
State of Play is an game advertisement platform. Nintendo and Microsoft do the same things with their platforms as well.
Those others promote more first party than third. Sony is overwhelmingly mostly third party the last 3 years.

I didn't know IO Interactive were a sony first party studio 🤔😂 they could have showed this at Gamescom instead of a *sony state of play*
They are not a first party studio. This game is also releasign on pc, xbox and I think switch

Its not unprecedented. Sony has done State of Plays for 3rd party games before. Just this year they had one for Borderlands 4.
well, it is a new original story so that makes perfect sense. they are shooting for a trilogy, we'll get "experienced" James Bond eventually.
Yeah they could have done a bit more to him, maybe make him more like Flemings original sketch of Bond.
He looks like Ethan Hunt or some redesign of Nathan Drake

I think we're starting to feel the effects of the new leadership and regime under Sony now. They've been through changes many times in last console gens but they've always remained to their mantra of great games and gamers coming first.
Jim was terrible but at least he knew the games we liked even though he was the pioneer of LS push early this gen for PS. Current Sony is seemingly clueless. I know Santa Monica is ready to announce their game at some point this gen it's been way too long. Stand Alone Venom game for 2026 could be on the cards. Maybe some Saros gameplay.
Maybe they have one more State Of Play in them and the game Awards. So maybe I'm speaking too soon(probably am). It's just getting annoying and tiring trying to figure out what Sony is doing anymore.
The game is great... for the 3 hours it lasts!

Must admit I haven't played it yet, but IO used to be such a great developer- who can forget the halcyon days of Hitman 2?
Barry, you mention the game's 'disturbing tone'. What do you mean by that exactly?
It's very harsh, opening with a torture scene but continuing the trend in the environmental detail, such as sweat shops and drug dens. The story also takes a few nasty tones as well
Shame that such a promising title (at least a vast step up from the first game) didn't really offer a whole lot past its original premise.
