I dont think it was only the way he looked that made fans of the series mad, I was upset that Capcom felt they needed to reboot the series which sucks for people who liked the original story. Don't get me wrong the gameplay will most likely be fun but the only reason the DMC name is on there is so its guaranteed some sales, take the DMC name out and everyone would prolly be praising the game but as we know Capcom hasn't been making the best decisions this generation.

I might give the game a shot after all is said and done, but in my heart it will never be a true Devil May Cry game.

Sorry but characters in established franchises DO matter to many fans. Otherwise, why not just play another title... it has the same gameplay no?

Don't play Halo, play any other FPS.
Don't play GoW, play any other hack and slash.

Clearly gamers get attached to characters, especially when developers are so hellbent on copying the movie going experience and delivering more and more story per game. Don't try to get me invested in a world/character, only to modify him in a sequel for no reason other than mass market penetration and focus testing. That's bull.

The whiners are at it again, you guys wouldn't leave Nu Cole alone and now it's the same with Dante. I just hope Capcom has some balls and doesn't go the route Sucker Punch took.

It's a triple threat. Capcom were clearly high when they thought this would be a good idea.

The look thing. Dante's look is iconic. His white hair, red coat and giant sword.

One of the most important parts of dmc was dantes style and his swagger, this new dude looks like a borderline zombie. You don't just completely change the main character after you've made 4 games using dante..that's not cool, regardless of what anyone thinks.

I was never a DMC fan, but this is a big deal, and it is something to question. Why would Capcom change anything at all about the DMC series? Lets be honest here, its not a dying franchise and DMC 4 sold the most copies out of all the DMC games. So its not like it was a necessary to reboot anything. Are they intentionally trying to loose the very large number of fans they have in a pathetic atempt to gain a few new?

Especially in a franchise, that's part of the point of having a franchise, something has to be iconic, and a lot of times (especially in games), it's the main character whom the player interacts with the most. A good example is Metal Gear, sure Snake has been modified and altered throughout the series, but in every incarnation the essence has essentially remained the same. Reboot or not, what NT is trying to pass off as Dante is so far removed from what people know of him, that people don't recognize him, some have argued in favor saying that the style and attitude remain, well to that I say the look was his style (sure he has the akimbo guns, but there have been plenty of games with characters going both guns blazing). If I'd seen this trailer, and it wasn't labeled as DMC I wouldn't think of Devil May Cry, and I don't seem to be alone on that one.

To be honest, before I actually watched the video I didn't think Dante's look'll matter that much. But after watching it, I can wholeheartedly say "IT SUCKS ASS".

A true Devil May Cry fan would know that it matters if they change the main character Dante to some skinny emo rock band wannabe/twilight vampire, DMC is Dante and without him it’s not even DMC anymore.
