They took an interesting character and stripped all the spice out of him. Part of what made Dante fascinating was that he was a butch emo; a pretty-boy who also kicked ass and got dirty. He was a spoiled prince of Hell. Not some just ANY ol' emo/ vampire wannabe (the Twilight reference was bang on). This dude is just Edward.

Incredibly disappointing.

Edit: I honestly would have preferred if they had left the character designs intact and made it a FPS. I don't even like shooters, for the record, but this characterization is awful.

What the fuc* is that? No more dante? the game looks OK, but character looks like SHI%. WTF Capcom? I hope you guys rot on hell. That game reminds me to the guy from Constantine the movie :(

What ruined DMC 4 for me was having to retrace Nero's levels as Dante. Thought Nero was actually quite cool.

what makes you think any of them will even be in it?

from what the kotaku blog is saying this dante was really really young if that's the case its not the dante we know

not to mention they also said he was locked up in some sort mental institution

I'm hoping that outsourcing the game is a response to exactly that. It looked like Capcom didn't have enough staff/money/time to make DMC4 all it could be, due to all the level retreading. Hopefully they're thinking that Ninja Theory will have a large amount of quality staff time to really develop the new game (at least, I'm hoping they're *thinking* that, I still haven't forgiven NT for the Monotonous Ninja Spam in Heavenly Sword).

But you know what? Capcom's answer should have been going back to the drawing board, signing on most of the old DMC4 team, and going "Here, we have the graphics engine stuff out of the way, so make a giant, epic game!" Actually, it should have been keeping Kamiya and paying him whatever he asked for.

Then how do you explain this? Do you honestly think capcom chose to "hey let NT work on this because we need a new DMC game asap". Obviously not. NT is likely the one who went to them.

Considering how the DMC games are my favorite action games I grew up with, I do not see this working. Heavenly Sword might have been good, but the 1,3 & 4 DMC games are above it and NT has a different style of doing thing. And the whole western touch to the game is a reason it will not be successful.

WTF? Look , Geno, I like the screenshots LESS than you but one thing I don't get is why you think a western touch will harm the series. The goddam series is FULL to bursting with western touches and culture in the first place. It's the action that remained Japanese, to me, in flavour while all the trappings were very western. As for it being NT Well, at least HS was a decent game, their new one looks a lot better than I expected and they aren't too full of themselves(so might listen to the fans and to Capcom)but, most of all, they aren't Grin. Which is good.

That said the screenshots, sadly, scream Twilight, at me and that just doesn't FEEL like Dante. Sorry NT but I'm hoping you get forced into a Sucker Punch over this I really do. I'm willing to give it a chance but Capcom's story driven games are running out of them with me after constant let downs for five years.
