“DMC” Trademark Hints at New Devil May Cry Game

There’s been a fair amount of buzz around Capcom’s stylish-action Devil May Cry series over the last few months, with rumours of a new installment developed by Heavenly Sword developer, Ninja Theory, first surfacing prior to the E3 Expo in Los Angeles earlier this year.

Hopefully this one doesn't suck!

gunnerforlife5745d ago

please make it as gd as dmc 1 and bring bak ifrit and alester(speling) :D and a great story mode that wuld expand the dmc universe and bring bak sparda somehow

Blaine5745d ago

The only reason anyone played DMC games after the first was because we kept hoping that, somehow, Capcom would make the next one as good as the first. After getting my hopes crushed 3 times in a row, I've given up on hoping. Capcom can't even make a game worthy of the DMC title, I doubt Ninka Theory will be able to.

Hanif-8765745d ago

Am i the only one that thinks Devil May Cry 3 is the best one?

N4GAddict5745d ago

Sounds like a reboot with Ninja Theory

pr0digyZA5745d ago

yup sounds like the rumor is coming true. Soon it will be one of those worst kept secrets.

Katana Yamato5745d ago (Edited 5745d ago )

Reboot? DMC is fine the way it is...well except DMC 4 that was complete garbage. They just have to retcon sum stuff...like removing Nero. But i doubt that'll happen.

Though the gameplay does need sum new stuff though. After Bayonetta...i have no idea what they'll come up with.

Edit: J-Killer15: The story is cohesive. It just has alot of plotholes. I don't want DMC to have a drastic, at least gameplay wise, reboot like RE 4&5.

Vampstreak: Yeah i kinda wanna know that as well. And to all the naysayers, DMC 2 does exist whether you like it or not. Its just far off in the future and not near enough to the current story.

J-Killer155745d ago

You kind of have to reboot it or at least start off from DMC1, because the story isn't very cohesive.

vampstreak5745d ago

i hope there is'nt a reboot. i still want to know what happens after dmc2

J-Killer155745d ago

What I really want is for NT to handle the game's production and story, and let Capcom handle the gameplay, but I doubt that will happen. I don't think the combat system can reach it's full potential without the the DMC3 team, because it was heavily influenced by Street Fighter Alpha 3. I hope NT proves me wrong, but I don't see the fighting system being as deep as DMC3 because it will be missing elements from SF.

Even though I think the game is somewhat overrated, give me a Bayonetta clone and I'll be quiet.

Katana Yamato5745d ago

We have seen collaborations already with Team Ninja and Nintendo (Metroid Other M) and Capcom and Blue Castle (Dead Rising 2). Look at Dead Rising 2 especially. It looks practically the same as the first game. So i'm sure Capcom will have a tight grip on the gameplay.

I don't doubt Hideaki Itsuno (Director of DMC 3 and DMC 4) will handle the gameplay perspective. Since he's shown to be a competent director after Kamiya left the DMC series after DMC 1.

I don't think blatantly copying Bayonetta is good. There sum things in Bayonetta that weren't great, don't get me wrong Bayo's gameplay is fun, but sum of the things are just better off only with Bayo.

I have no doubt DMC 5 will borrow sum stuff Bayonetta introduced. But then again, Bayonetta didn't really revolutionize the stylish action genre. It was more of an evolution of the gameplay more then anything.

We just have to see what NT has in store for us. They might surprise us.

CimmerianDrake5745d ago

DMC4 sucked, and I hope they don't copy Bayonetta's gameplay. It's basically Bujingai anyway.

For DMC5, here are a few musts. First, don't get lazy with level design. DMC4 was the same levels and the same bosses played in order, then in reverse order. It shows a complete lack of creative thinking and is very lazy.

Second, get rid of Nero. He's an ok character, and I like his skillset, but the series really is about Dante and that's why people like it. There's nothing wrong with trying new things, but don't make it a drastic change. That being said, I think that they were trying to recapture DMC3's greatness with Nero, considering he kind of seems to be an attempt at a young Dante, but with a girlfriend he's trying to rescue.

Third, and this is just me but, don't change the combat maybe just add things to it. The combat has aged well in my opinion.

But please, in the name of the Video Game Bible, please DO NOT make another DMC4.

With the connections they have in the industry, if they heard it, it's probably happening. I'm worried though that Ninja Theory will do a game more their style then Devil May Cry style.

They have shown themselves to be great developers, but I have to wonder how they will handle an already established franchise.

Unicron5745d ago

....I'm wary. DMC1, amazing. DMC3, amazing. Will DMC5 be amazing?

Enough of this "westernized" crap though!

Stealth20k5745d ago

They think this westernized crap is what we want but it isnt

crematory5745d ago

actually i'm not american but i ask my american friends about branded hack and slash games to have western touch , all of them said they dont want noob games ,they love hardcore JP games

The Great Melon5745d ago (Edited 5745d ago )

Let's hope they stick to their odd pattern.

Simon_Brezhnev5745d ago

i guess they look at GOW as a standard for what westerns like or something

PrinceOfAnger5745d ago

i think this time dmc will be different than the other dmc games!

chiwoo5745d ago

please let Capcom be doing the game we dont need anymore Western made games but giving since thet let other developers do dead rising and Dark void i think it might come true

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle40d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Relientk7748d ago

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga48d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit48d ago (Edited 48d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199247d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga47d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman47d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box48d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion47d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7248d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7548d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit48d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14948d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7748d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
