NowGamer speaks to THQ studio Kaos about development of its FPS title Homefront. Senior Level Designer Zach Wilson explains why rising development cost is crippling some areas of the industry.

Jack writes: "Back in March 2011, the first-person action shooter Homefront arrived on the Xbox 360 from THQ, along with a storm of publicity which included a really cool live-action trailer"

Last week game dev Steve Thornton took to Twitter to ask: fellow devs, have you ever slipped something into a game you're working on that's just for you? The replies are well worth a read.

Deep Silver and Humble Bundle are currently offering the first Homefront game for free. This offer will last for the next 48 hours, so be sure to visit its Humble Bundle page in order to acquire your free copy.
get it! the single player is excellent and intense and the MP is pretty fun, too.
Ehh, PS4 needs these deals too, or consoles in general we always get discounts rarely free stuff that's REALLY free (games with gold / psplus isn't free)
development cost? or advertising cost?
EA Sports games, UFC, CoD
Those dev's aren't doing much more than updating rosters, reskinning, mapping.
They spend more money on advertising than most dev's spend on their games.
I feel bad for some of the smaller compaines.
a lot of issues stems out of development cost.. the longer the development the costly it is.. for new ip's it's like playing Russian Roulette ..
talented artists/programmers/designers costs money
Beta testings, bug fixes, etc.. costs money
unforeseen problems costs money..
the longer the development the more money being spend..
take Grand-Theft Auto IV for example.. big game.. probably took over 100 2D and 3D artists to make the City.. not to mention countless times beta testing the whole game to find collision detection errors, bugs, etc etc.. and what was ths rumored cost? over $100m
you see why piracy is really a problem?
a guy from ea said that development costs have peaked and will now slow down and this guy says exactly the opposite:

All the more reason to make a quality game.
