Infamous had Hoverboards, Motorcycles and Dreadlocks

During a Sucker Punch panel at PAX 10 last week, the developers talked about the countless iterations Infamous went through until the final product shipped.

Hoverboards?

lol the one thing I was hoping to see in IF was Cole having the ability to make a hoverboard out of electricity for fast ground movement.

I think that would be cool!

TheOldOne5731d ago

I don't know if anyone watched this but its about a superhero that has electric powers like cole. I thought cole would have his own metal hoverboard like Static does in this vid (at 0:24):

That show was awesome :)

T9X695731d ago

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing, just couldn't remember the name of the show.

SasanovaS19875731d ago

static shock was my shi777777...maybe around the empire city, there could be sewers in middle of the streets with those round metal covers over them, and cole can walk over it and pick 1 of them up and use it as a hover board for a while before it runs out of juice, then he has to replace it again

Chuk_Chuk5731d ago

i remember that show. Man so many good memories

SeanRL5731d ago

I remember that show! A hoverboard like that would be badass!

goldensfree5731d ago (Edited 5731d ago )

tinybigman5731d ago

@SasanovaS1987

That one great idea my fellow '87er! Cole could also be limited to his own electrical juice and just like he can recharge from any electrical source (phone booths, car battery, transformators, etc), he could as well auto recharge when near one of those sources while floating in hover mode, so he has to keep moving.

It could make some great hot pursuits combined to those they already use with power line grinding.

One vehicle I expected Cole to use for fast navigation, considering he is a courrier, is a bike. Maybe he could even use electricity to improve the biking. But I'm afraid it's one of those ideas that sounds much better than it actually is, it could feels kinda lame if the map and challenges wouldn't be done around the concept to some extent.

Sucker Punch To Work On Franchise Spin-Offs After Ghost Of Yotei

Ghost of Yotei can be followed up with spin-offs, confirms the Creative Directors at Sucker Punch Productions.

-Foxtrot596d ago (Edited 596d ago )

Kind of surprising because I don’t know how they’d do spin offs given that they are now making each new game about a different Ghost. When you spin off it’s usually about a different character or location but they are already doing that here.

Only thing I can think of is Jin making a return with a direct follow up to Tsushima and then eventually Yotei will get the same treatment.

isarai596d ago

Legends? Or maybe code for GAAS 😔

-Foxtrot595d ago

*shudder*

I didn’t think about live service

As for Legends, I think doing it as an update after launch for the current game is a better way than a separate game entirely

lukasmain595d ago

Maybe some "Iki Island" sized "spin-offs". Which I would love.

Daeloki594d ago

I think people are throwing around the word spin-off without really knowing what it means. As far as I know, or maybe this is just my interpretation, but a spin-off is something that features someone who was already introduced in a main entry.

So in my mind, Ghost of Yotei is it's own standalone entry in an anthology. Whereas a Ghost of Tsushima spin-off would be if we got something like a game, novel, comic or series focusing on Yuna, Kenji, Tomoe or some other character from the game.

lellkay594d ago

Maybe a spin off dedicated to a side character established in GOT or GOY?

victorMaje594d ago

That’s how I’d understand it. I thought they’d go back to Jin though. Imo his story needs a sequel.

I mean or you could make a new Sly Cooper, InFamous, or new IP and not milk this series...

Daeloki594d ago

So Ghost of Yotei is milking the series... but making a new Sly Cooper or Infamous isn't?

Chocoburger594d ago

I believe his point is that both series have been gone long enough where regardless of how many entries there are, he (and others) miss the franchise and wouldn't feel like it's considered "milking" due to the massive time gap.

When a gameplay style or characters are gone for so long, its only natural to want to see it return, right?

Mix it up, don't just pigeon hole yourself to make only samurai games, toss in some variety. But if Sucker Punch doesn't want to do that, so be it.

The_Hooligan594d ago

We have had 4 sly cooper games (not including the collection), 3 infamous games (not including the spin-off first light) and so far only 2 ghost games so i wouldn't really call it milking the series. Now, i wouldn't mind also getting another sly or infamous game though.

Jin_Sakai595d ago

Would much rather have a new Infamous game or even a new IP after Ghost of Yotei.

CrimsonWing69594d ago

So, they’re not going to work on different things? Just Ghost and spin-offs for years to come? Please don’t Ass Creed this IP

Profchaos594d ago

Feels like Sony's thing lately studio struck gold and 10 years later they are still toiling away at the same IP tlou and horizon two of the biggest examples

StoneTitan594d ago

You mean every studio in existence?

PitbullMonster594d ago (Edited 594d ago )

Probably for the directors cut edition of GoY for the PS6.

Atleast release a remaster trilogy or something to gage interest. I'd buy it. With that said I'm pretty over superheroes at this point. Infamous is still dope as fk though so it'd be a buy

isarai694d ago

Omfg i would go apesh!t for that 😩

jznrpg695d ago

I agree but games take 4-6 years to make so who knows when they would do it? After Ghost of Tsushima2? They could have something else in the world as well in early production who knows.

mkis007695d ago

It's a shame Sucker Punch finally figured out a good open world formula only while making Ghost of Tsushima. Infamous 1 and 2 were great for their time, but Second son felt too much like a checklist in It's design. I love the hell out of all 3 games (2 and 3 are just so damn good, while 1 shows it's age and the ps3 struggles), but I would love to see how they would do another infamous with all they have learned. Wouldn't hurt to release a remastered collection either.

Demetrius694d ago (Edited 694d ago )

This series, days gone, will continue to get ignored by sony, luckily we still have the horizon series, sly cooper not getting pushed anymore, speaking of that I'm bout to get on my ps2 and play some sly 2 anyways lol, but seriously I never woulda thought back then sony would ever cold shoulder most of their franchises I'm actually surprised they're still letting ratchet&clank be around
