In what is becoming a worrying trend from Microsoft, the company failed to announce any new exclusives for the Xbox 360 at Gamescom in Cologne last month. After a lacklusture and virtually entirely Kinect based E3 showing, it seemed Gamescom, the second largest gaming industry show in the West, would be the perfect place to announce a couple of new exclusives for 2011. However, it was not to be and with Tokyo Game Show being the last major gaming exhibition this year, many gamers are left wondering what the hell Microsoft is actually up to.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.
This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.
This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.
I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet
Helix is going to be stupidly expensive
Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential
I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought
That's going to be ps6 vs Helix
It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs
Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.

In an exclusive interview with Game File, new(ish) Xbox boss Asha Sharma and Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty explain their vision for Microsoft’s gaming division
A good start would be to release games to go with the console. My Xbox Series X has gathered dust virtually from launch. My advice would be to ditch a next console and release games on PC, PlayStation and Switch. Another idea would be a hybrid console based on Xbox Series X tech and go the same route as Nintendo. Another idea would be to pull out of gaming altogether. Plenty of options there.
Fable III
Halo: Reach
Kinect Adventures
Kinect Animals
Kinect Joy Ride
Kinect Sports
Looks like somebody doesn't like the fact the 360 is outselling the PS3. After 6 years the same exclusive drivel shows its ugly head yet the 360 always has great games. With Gears Of War releasing so early in 2011 I bet MSFT is going to have an Ace in the hole for late 2011 with Crytek's Kingdoms
Lets see how many trolls get reported in this article, I'm going with -14 (as in 14 people not trolling and own a 360 will be reported as trolls).
The PS3 has. /////Xbox 360
Resistance 3. ///////Halo reach
Killzone 3. /////// Gears of war
Ratchet and clank all 4 one ///////Fable 3
GT5. ///////Kinect
Agent
Motorstorm Ap.
LBP2
Socom 4
Sly
Dead space extraction
PS Move
Start the party
The shoot
Sports champion
Pixel junk shooter 2
I do hope the third option isn't a reality. At least in the hopes that they aren't pumping ALL of their resources into a successor just yet, seems like something that should only take up at least 20% of their resources. If anything they should be looking into making new first parties, and looking back at their track record. As I said in some other articles, first few years of 360 are amazing. Majority of my games are from that time, now I can't really say I'm ex-tactic about turning on that console.
I don't know I think Microsoft just needs a new outlook, It's fine that they have some multiplatform games which is all well and good, but there just needs to be more from Microsoft. Something that makes people say "Yeah Xbox!" without having to think just about Halo, Gears, and Fable. I mean I hate to bring this up in a 360 article, but look at the PS3 you have to have at least a list to name some of the games on it. That is what I'd like to see from Microsoft and a bit from Nintendo. I must reiterate though sorry for bringing in another console but it was the easiest way to get my point across.
P.S. I still think they could do something good with Kinect, they just have to pool in resources to make something better than party games. There are already plenty of those.
