could not run this game with it's lopsided architecture and crippled RSX GPU. The framerate would surely be subpar with only 256megs of video ram.

I'm sure that Irrational Games and 2K only wanted to release optimal versions and not let the game quality suffer. Just look at what happened to Madden.

Have already stated in their press release that this is an exclusive game to the 360/PC, just how the stingy developers that Sony put's under it's wing but aren't first party do. You win some and you lose some but if you buy both systems you never lose.

Why are people still hating on the PS3? We all know it can run a game at 1080p at 60 frames per sec...there are many PS3 games that do this. You guys saw the MGS4 demo, you saw the killzone 2 demo...you saw Haze, and COD4, you saw Heavenly Sword...Why are you xbots still hating on the PS3?

Just because madden 08 sucks on the PS3, does not mean all games on the PS3 are subpar to the Xbox 360!

Get real xbots...you have some good games...bioshock, maybe halo 3 and gears of war...and a good madden 08...but next year you got nothing killer comming out.

I think Bioshock is a great game, but i don't think the PS3 need it. I think the PS3 has planty of great games coming out this fall and PS3 also have a great line-up for next year too. No doubt Bioshock will be a great game, but saying that PS3 gotta have it, uhmmm..... Naw!

The real question that should be asked is "does Bioshock need the PS3?". Do they forget that Irrational and 2k choose which system(s) their game will be available for. With high development costs of the PS3, plus the fact that its bound to make tons of money, my guess is no.

I don't think the PS3 needs BioShock. Mainly because all the "hardcore" PS3 fans insist theres great games coming to the PS3, exclusively, So they don't need this game, cause' theres gonna be all those other great games.

Cell is unexplored. Meaning nearly all devs are struggling with it, has nothing to do with rsx. On the subject of rsx, it destroys the 360. Shader power of rsx puts xenos to shame. so please don't even go there.

The PS3 doesn't need Bioshock, Sony has gone for variety and the longer MS sits in the hardcore corner with the 360 and refuses to come out it's in trouble. It might not look like it right now to you 360 guys... but take this under advisement: the Wii is almost the worlds most dominant console and it didn't get there because all it's games got 10/10, it's dominant because it caters to a wide casual audience and hardcore gamers have even got hooked and bought a Wii.

Stop being so short sighted and look further ahead than a few weeks. Bioshock is a great game. So is Halo 3 (I think). Heavenly Sword is a great game (Got 9.7/10, same as Bioshock's IGN review). Lair is a great game.

I could go on but it's boring to list games lol. I am a gamer first, PS3 fan second. Shortsightedness usually ends up with a lot of people having to eat their words a year later.

For example; MS said, "The Wii is a kids toy!". MS have been proven wrong and have had to eat their words on that point and are now trying to get into the casual market themselves.

Or we have "Haha Sony, Blu-ray won't beat HD-DVD, just give up". Ummm, Blu-ray is winning and will win overall. A lot of people have to eat their words on that.

I'm still trying to summarise to myself exactly what'll happen next year with this console battle, it's very difficult to judge right now but I think 2008 is the PS3's year simply because I don't know of any big 360 exclusives to top those on the PS3. I'm not going to claim that the 360 will be dead by 2009 because that's impossible to predict tbh. MS could pull a magical bunny out of someone's ass and it could produce the ultimate game, ya never know.

Bioshock is great, yeah. I still wouldn't buy an FPS that lacks multiplayer. I'd rent it. After playing Resistance I think I'd have sold it had it not been for the MP. The story was good and all but the MP made the purchase worthwhile. With Bioshock I wouldn't have that peace of mind knowing I have MP to fall back on. So no the PS3 doesn't need Bioshock. Would some PS3 gamers like to have the option to buy it for their PS3? Yeah I'm sure they would.

I'm of the opinion that you don't miss what you never had. Sony doesn't need Bioshock. Having it surely wouldn't hurt :-). What Sony needs to do is get their exclusives out and hope delays are minimal at best from here on out.

Hopefully Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Folklore and so on, won't see any delays and all make it out this year.

i think it would be good for the PS3, but a necessity? i'm not so sure.

i'd love to play it on my PS3, on my 40"HDTV, instead of my crappy PC monitor though (i haven't bought an HDMI cable for my computer yet; it keeps slipping my mind).

it certainly wouldn't hurt the PS3 to get this title, but by the time the PS3 version hits, there will be *OTHER anticipated games to give it some fierce competition (ie MGS4, Killzone 2, FFXIII, to name only a few).

1. Bioshock is not coming to PS3, regardless of what Sony fanboys say or make believe. I'm pretty sure Microsoft has already paid money to keep this one exclusive, but they just haven't come out and said it.

2. PS3 does not need Bioshock, although having it would be a bonus for PS3, but it's not crucial.

3. PS3 needs its own exclusives; if people are gonna buy a PS3, they're not gonna buy it for Bioshock or games that are already on 360/Windows. They want good exclusives.

Well, I don't think PS3 gamers would complain if it DID come to their system.

The demo was great and the trailer last year showed us that the storm was coming. FPSs were bashed as being the only thing 360 was going to get, but PS3 gamers praise KZ2? And then spout off about Unreal3's timed exclusivity? Someone on another forum said "only 5 days away from a GOTY contender". I agree and I see that this game will no doubt be missed by PS3 gamers. They say that they have KZ2 but they don't have it YET. And fanboys will put it up against games that are out NOW?! KZ2 will compete with the games of ITS time. Most likely the Too Human. Halo3/Mass Effect/Bioshock own this year. If Playstation3 doesn't need Bioshock, then it basically can survive with subpar games, right? No, it NEEDS games like this that achieve such high zeniths in gaming's echelon. The top tier titles are the console sellers, so it goes like this:

I would love to play it but I have a PS3. One reason why the PS3 doesn't need any new titles now is because there are a F*ckin ton releasing this fall. Including Drake and Ratchet which are both going to be monsters. Warhawk will kick our a$$e$, and then PS3 owners will go into debt with the addition of heavenly sword and Nine fields. By the way does anyone other than me see that new card game for the PS3 being an enourmous hit? Just think if they did a Yu Gi Oh or Magic the Gathering game for that it would sell like crack in harlem.

Eye of judgement for the ps3 will be a hit when it comes out. It would also be cool if they made a Yu GI Oh card game using the eye toy...lol that would sell like crazy in japan.

I don't that know much about this game, i have seen videos, and yeah obviously you can't ignore it's getting good reviews.. the funny thing is that if this game comes out and it looks EXACTLY the same or even better it would get a 9.2 or 9.3 at best, and it would've gotten the same 9.1 reviews if this was a ps3 exclusive.

So just cause a game is getting great reviews doesn't mean we need it.. yes i agree that it wouldn't hurt but i don't think we NEED it,

i'm really not trying to put down the game, but when i see H.S. and i see a lot of critics talking crap about it, i realize that we have to play what we get and if we like it, we should enjoy it, not hold this reviews so high, after all it's only one persons opinion..

a few years back a newspaper critic gave High Fidelity(an ok movie) a 10/10 and the week after he gave Gladiator a 8/10 saying that it was too long.. so reviews for me, each week are becoming more and more meaningless

So sorry 360 haters, 3 months after it comes out on the PS3 it is on its way to the 360. Ahhhh, to not have spent $600 for a paper weight is a great feeling.

-Dreamcast had Soul Caliber
-GC had Metroid Prime
-Ocarina, MP and SC are I think the top 3 games of all time by rankings, and none appeared on Playstation. Diversity is what helps PS win. This is unfortunately not going to grow the already shooter full Xbox 360 market.

Reasons why it'll appear on PS3
-Cell>Xbox 360 CPU, by far, obviously is possible
-Devs have not said it will NEVER come to PS3, implied to be 2007 exclusive
-Already was in development for PS3
-Already on PC, superior to 360 version obviously.

Reasons why MGS4 will not go to 360:
-Kojima CONFIRMED it could only be done on PS3. CONFIRMED.
-Phil Harrison said it will NEVER come to 360.
-Kojima has total control of title (not Konami) and he hates ports, wants it to be PS3 exclusive.

Though I'm very pleased with this game and its scores. This is the kind of game the industry needs, console wars aside.

Thought i would add my two pennies worth, Although ps3 would obviously benefit from bioshock, I dont believe it would hurt it by not coming. Most ps3 owners will just play it on pc. That is the difference between this and say, Heavenly sword. You cant play that on pc so xbots would be missing out. If bioshock was exclusive it would add more weight to the argument

I think it will come to the PS3 in 6-12 months time if at all. I don't see why it wouldn't. If they are working on it I'm sure they are under contract not to breathe a word for at least 3 months after it comes out on 360 and PC.

Whether it does or doesn't come to PS3 I don't think I can wait much past Tuesday so it's 360 version for me. The immersion in this game is incredible - it's surprisingly engrossing and disturbing at the same time.

I havent actually said anything bad about bioshock. If you read what i said it is in response to the question. I would totally agreee that Bioshock looks like it is going to be game of the year and good luck to it. It looks awsome and system shock two is an all time classic. My main point is that it isnt EXCLUSIVE. If it was then maybe it would hurt the ps3, but anyone can play it on the pc so no one is missing out. I havent said play it at the same level as the 360. Obviously for the best experience i would say play it on console, but I would be quite happy playing a graphically less superior version on pc than buying a new console just to play this game. Isnt bioshock supposed to be about playability not just graphics?

Yea, for me i will quite happily play on pc, but yes nothing will come close to playing this on console at night, on a 42 inch plus tv with the lights off. Either way BIOSHOCK = AWSOME and even as a ps3 owner I would be quite happy for this to be game of the year.

Is not likely coming to PS3 because it will probably sell huge on 360, there will be no need to invest the time and money to port this game over to PS3, especially since the PS3 has such a tiny installed base, they will not be desperate for sales with this game, it should sell huge on just PC and 360.

But as it was with 360 around this time last year. The PS3 needs it's first super AAA games. And again, like the 360 this time last year, the PS3 will be getting some this fall.

if it came to ps3 it'll probably be too late for me but after playing the demo through to the end and watching the types of moves/weapons that were shown in the cutscene after i could see this game being accepted swiftly by the ps3 crowd. I would play the pc version just because of my mouse n key support but even with the pad i was sucked in. I had to up the sensitivity a touch because i was getting smacked upside my head but in the console's favor i have no pc input on my plasma so the biggest version of this game i could play would be through console.

I personally thought the graphics, although very atmospheric, weren't really what i was expecting. Ill wait to see what the pc version looks like but on the topic does the ps3 need it? NO, want it? YES

It's a high scoring game exclusive to MS products and will probably stay that way. Because there isn't one AAA game where you should really buy an console for THAT expensive. Not one game got over 90% on the PS3 yet. No system seller/killer app.

Of course, Any time one group cannot enjoy something that they should be able too (its not that hard to port it and port it good so it works great) then its a loss.

this is not a biased post saying that the ps3 has no games...ect But I feel that whenever a thing is good, and could give every one some enjoyment to play it, then I feel it should be available to those people regardless the life, the system...ect that they lead.

It says right on the box that Bioshock is "Only for Xbox 360 and Windows."

In other words, it is a "Microsoft Exclusive" game.

I'm not surprised that Bioshock is doing so well with the reviews.

Bioshock has a chance to literally become the highest rated game in the history of videogames!!!

Bioshock continously is rated with scores of 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5, and all sorts of other PERFECT scores. The lowest the game has scored is 9.5 out of 10.

I am getting the Xbox 360 version of Bioshock, because the Xbox Live demo is SO IMPRESSIVE!!!

Ever since the summer of 2006, the three games that have been winning all of the awards at trade shows like E3 have been Gears of War, Mass Effect, and Bioshock.

I have literally changed my preorder so that it isn't the standard version, but the Collector's Edition.

In my opinion, when the developers put in this sort of incredible quality for a game, then they deserve to have consumers take a look at the Collector's Edition of the game.

Of course the ps3 needs bioshock, stupids, its a great game (based on the experience of the demo) and what console doesnt need good games? The PS3? If you actually think that i recommend you stop fakking your ps3 for 2 secs and actually think about it. Naaa, we (yes WE, as in ps3 owner) dont need it... We can all continue watching the HD movie-trailers on psn... and play the HS-demo over and over and over and over again, maybe play some super stardust hd now that we're SICK and TIRED of RFOM and Motorstorm.

The people who wrote this article seriously need to start considering suicide, how much of a flamer can you get? This is just asking for it.

I feel sorry for ps3 owners at this time. Can see the obvious jealousy hidden under their posts saying We dont need bioshock etc. Comeon guys you really dont want the game which is getting highest scores on almost all the sites/magazines? You guys have already missed out on amazing experiences of Lost planet, Crackdown, TDU, COD3, Gears, PGR3, Forza 2, Dead rising etc and only thing you are harping about is R&C, KZ2, MGS4, Lair, GT5 etc most of which are coming mid to late 2008 and one even in 2009. I guess you guys love to wait while you hate the competition. Sony screwed you this time around even you guys realize it but like a true fanboi will not admit it.

YOu think if there was bioshock for ps3 and you had a choice to pick up either bio or lair, you'd go for lair? Only true blind fanbois will not see that even today and till mid of 2008 360 is the better console to have for gaming and dont give me (rap about BD and home. Below are my points.

1. Better multiplatform games (so far and atleast for some more time)
2. More games than the rival (advantage of coming out a year earler)
3. More online content than the rival (as above)
4. Better price
5. Better options for buyers
6. More players online to play with
7. Dont have to worry about any format war (what if BD fails)
8. Deep MS pockets to secure more devs

For those ps3 owners who are saying we'll play on our pcs, hope you have good rigs with atleast 1gb+ ram and 7 series vga cards. I hve a decent rig already listed before but some of the specs are 3.4ghz (o/c) Dual core, 2x1gb 800 mhz dual channel ram, 7950GX2 single SLI 1gb card and 19" Widescreen LCD 4ms monitor, BUT I would rather lay down on my couch with a wireless controller and play Bio on my 50" LCD TV and of course feeling the buzz of the rumble controller while i shoot or get shot.

i can respect the PS3 for what it CAN DO but its not doing anything, there is still No reason for me to buy one at all, and its looking like MGS4 is gonna be the one that finally caves me in. i thought the idea of lair and heav sword were great but then have been dissapointing, with my 360 i have no need to buy a PS3 just for it to be sat doing nothing

Seriously though, Bioshock sells consoles, I have witnessed it. Sony and PS3 needs Bioshock. I need Bioshock, everybody needs BIOSHOCK. It's the game.

Bioshock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Halo3, GTA IV, Alan Wake, HAZE, UT, COD4, Blue Dragon and many many others will all come to 360. Makes me really wonder why I ever bought PS3 even though some of them comes to ps3 as well, but not the gems, GEMS goes to 360. Sick.

Bioshock can have all the scores it wants, but i asked my 20 or so friends if they were going to buy a game called, "Bioshock". They're looking at me crazy saying what the hell is that. This is my point from the beginning, a lot of people haven't heard of this game and this will limit sales. Even though there are 10 million x box owners with half of them waiting fo their console to be repaired, i will say that this game will sell only a million copies.

I've played the demo, and it was good. But I think gears is better. The ps3 has good games coming down the pipeline and this game would ba great addition, but it's not needed. I really don't see how this game is getting these high scores though. It's not that great to me. just my opinion.

I dont know wats all this hype about I played the demo the graphics are too cartoony in bioshock. It didn't even feel real like risistance or heavenly sword. Xbox is just a gimick. cry all u want xbots you know the truth.

Third party developers can put whatever they want on the 360 and it doesn't matter because Sony will still have the best, and the Most first and Second Party development companies making exclusive games for the PS3. Tell me one once 360 exclusive that is not on the PC or in development for it?

Metal Gear Online Beta has started in Japan already on the PS3 and will be coming to the US next which is like very soon. I bet around the time Halo 3 comes out. This year on the PS3 we have Unreal Tournament 3, Warhawk, COD4, and HAZE so no reason to get worked up over one exclusive when Sony still has many Shooter games coming. Warhawk will be here next Week and you can take the fight to the air or the ground with plenty of vehicles and will be loads of fun.
