why does MS even bother?they'll never be accepted in japan....

Misterhbk5731d ago

It's not that they'll never be accepted, but for some reason they just don't grasp what the Japanese market wants. It certainly isn't Halo Reach i'll tell you that much. They need to throw something in to surprise, otherwise there is going to be an awful lot of silence during their press conference.

5731d ago
CaJuaLFeatPuFF5731d ago

I didnt know Mini Games count

huzzaahh5731d ago

It'll be a lame-ass showing, unfortunately.

pustulio5731d ago (Edited 5731d ago )

wow MS you continue to disappoint while Sony announces game after game.

It's basically: Fable, Kinect, Kinect, Kinect.

To me it is: Fable, Fail, Fail, Fail.

nycredude5731d ago

Iflowlikewater

You mean like they abandoned the 20,000,000 plus original xbox owners? MS doesn't do stuff like that? Or do they...

Nope, Japan doesn't want Halo, nor do they want Killzone or God of War, for that matter. Even Uncharted 2 barely cracked 125K units over a year's time - nowhere near what Sengoku Basara 3 is doing. Japanese tastes are fairly different. Here is the latest Media Create software chart from Japan:

01. [PSP] Monster Hunter Diary: Pokapoka Ailu Village – 256.076 / NEW
02. [PSP] Ace Combat X2: Joint Assault – 57.785 / NEW
03. [WII] Wii Party – 54.673 / 859.733 (-21%)
04. [PS3] Another Century’s Episode R – 28.354 / 248.203 (-87%)
05. [PSP] Hakuouki: Zuisouroku Portable – 24.469 / NEW
06. [NDS] Inazuma Eleven 3: World Challenge!! – 12.889 / 810.718
07. [WII] Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 11.977 / 795.602
08. [NDS] Art Academy – 10.301 / 148.759
09. [PSP] Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X – 9.371 / 161.875
10. [PS3] Sengoku Basara 3 – 8.834 / 361.452

Solid_Snakeps35731d ago

i cant wait to watch them show Kinect Adventures +_+

bjornbear5731d ago

2 games...to MS it only matters that they release 1 game that sells as much as 5 games

to MS fans...well they probably don't care and 1 game is enough for them anyway =/

thats sad though...as fans you should DEMAND MORE

0mega45731d ago

I hope they have a couple hidden in there sleeve.

what are they spending that live money on?

BusterFang5730d ago (Edited 5730d ago )

Lack of games, increase in Xbox Live price, new controller that should've been released long ago...*facepalm*. I'll just buy Reach and Fable 3 to have at least played them. Any online gaming I'll do on my PS3 and PC, at least it'll save me some cash.

@BulletProofVess

Lmao I asked myself that same question, I think they've been holding back with it to have a back-up plan if Kinect doesn't work in their ways.

gedapeleda5730d ago

Those Japannese sure like pokemon games

sikbeta5730d ago

"Fable III
Halo: Reach
Kinect Adventures
Kinect Animals
Kinect Joy Ride
Kinect Sports"

This is for real?

halo:R and FIII is a given, but then? anything more than kinect? hell with that...

AuToFiRE5730d ago

microsoft is focusing too heavily on natal, thus forgetting about the ones who really bring in the money, the hardcore

ELite_Ghost5730d ago (Edited 5730d ago )

weird how there is barely any games...

Maybe FFXIII versus? That'd be pretty gay...

Megaton5730d ago (Edited 5730d ago )

Weak at E3, weak at Gamescom, weak at TGS. It's their focus on Kinect. They bring a couple core games, and a handful of ubercasual Kinect stuff. Makes them look pretty foolish at these big gaming conventions.

ChronoJoe5731d ago

Well, they could be.

But why are Microsoft bringing the westernised, casual games... to show? that is definitely not what they want to see... where's the JRPGs? why did they announced the Square Enix shooter at gamescom, rather than TGS?

Japan could except Microsoft as a competitor, but Microsoft don't know what they're doing in Japan, unfortunately.

Dragun6195731d ago

Microsoft had the Jrpgs, It wasn't enough to deliver a major push the Xbox360 in Japan. Now, Third Party Devs are starting to switch to PS3 like NamcoBandai as they're making Tales of Graces F and a Tales of for PS3.

And Square Enix announced Gun Loco at Gamescom because it was a shooter aimed for the Western Audience rather the Japanese audience.

mrcash5731d ago

MS tried the jrpg thing and it didn't work, maybe the jap market will eat up all this kinect garbage they're trying out.

ChronoJoe5731d ago

I figured It was supposed to be both.

Y'know, have western gamers interested in the gameplay, but JP audience interested in the aesthetic. I know Square Enix is definitely not the studio you want to have producing any game targeted towards to Western market, that's for sure.

lastdual5731d ago

Honestly, MS isn't going to capture the Japanese hardcore market. Their earlier strategy of releasing JRPGs proved as much. Focusing on the Japanese casual market instead may be a much smarter business move.

And yes, casual minigames do sell in Japan. It's not just the West that has casual gamers.

ChronoJoe5731d ago

The casual offerings they have, are very westernised though. Whilst casual mini-games like Wii Sports might sell... stuff like Dance Central and Kinect Adventures won't.

SixZeroFour5731d ago

but everytime they released a jrpg, the 360 would get a small temporary boost...if they kept producing jrpg's more ppl would buy 360s to play with their friends and in turn would produce more word of mouth advertising (which i personally feel is the best kind of advertising)

what MS needs to do is buy a couple popular anime franchises, and then have some developers work for exclusive games on those franchises

ChronoJoe5731d ago

I agree.

If they had snapped up stuff like White Knight Chronicles, they could be onto something in JP. Cause Japanese people love it, and you play online... so people may get the console to play with friends and so on.

They did make an attempt with Monster Hunter, but unfortunately the monster hunter game they have is no better than the Wii or PSP games so to Japanese people they don't see the advantage of playing it on 360 over PSP/360. Whereas they would have seen the benefit of a new IP like White Knight Chronicles.

lowcarb5731d ago

Kinect may be what they need in Japan. The list is pretty weak to me but I already know whats coming this year and don't need to worry about the next 3.

+ Show (5) more repliesLast reply 5731d ago
005731d ago

They want more Japanese devs making games on their console, that was something they were criticized for last gen.

AuToFiRE5730d ago

microsoft is focusing way too heavily on natal, the more they show of it, the more i dont want it, the eyetoy and even the PSEye can do what natal does

5731d ago
ingiomar5731d ago (Edited 5731d ago )

I don't think this is all i mean come on 2 hardcore games?

It sounds logical if you think about it.. why would they spoil surprises?

*desperate and sad*

i mean kinect is cool and all but damn even at TGS?

Well at least we have Reach and fable 3 is definitely day one

Anon19745731d ago

I bet it's the same lineup we've been seeing from Microsoft for the past year! Halo, Fable, Gears and a bunch of Kinect titles we saw on the Wii 4 years ago that all kinda blend into one!

Am I right? Oh, a change up. No Gears at this event. That's a surprise. When you've only got enough worthwhile games coming out in the next year to count on one hand, should you really be leaving out one of those at an event like the TGS?

huzzaahh5731d ago

Microsoft seems to be showing anything but hardcore games these days.

ColJessup5731d ago (Edited 5731d ago )

Look at Darkride making an excellent observation, getting 9 agrees and no disagrees and yet getting nailed for trolling. Who'd you piss off?

You're 100% correct. Microsoft has showed nothing at E3, nothing at Gamescom and now nothing at this game show but a bunch of Kinect games, Gears 2, Fable 3 and Halo Reach. That's all they've been showing off the entire year. You get a bubbles up from me for being right on the money with your comments.

Apparently, some can't handle the truth!

k-Lan5731d ago

Nyc_gamer. With a comment like that it really shows you know absolutely nothing about business. Do you expect them to throw in the towel?

One thing i would love to know is are you and all your PS buddies from Japan or something? If you're not, may i suggest you stop riding that asain dick. Only the PS fanboys hang on to Japan like it's the biggest gaming market out there.

NYC_Gamer5731d ago (Edited 5731d ago )

what logical reason does MS have to stay in japan?they had whole bunch of timed exclusive jrpgs and that didnt work...and business?whats the sense of having hardware/software that no1 really buys...and i'm talking about japan because this post is about TGS...and what market does that show represent..

Dragun6195731d ago (Edited 5731d ago )

Well, of Course, Microsoft is not gonna give up, but I think it would be wasted effort to try to capture the Japanese market again. If Jrpg exclusives didn't work and the new Xbox 360 S didn't make a dent in the Japanese Market, Why continue to spend money and resources on the Japanese market again?

Instead of MS placing their money and resources on Japanese games, they should just focus on where they do best and that is getting Western developers to make them Xbox360 Exclusives that will be beneficial worldwide. Like Crytek and their Project: Kingdoms for Xbox360.

And Japan is also one of the Big Gaming markets out there. 5.5 million PS3 units sold along with PS3 games selling like FFXIII which sold like 2 million copies in japan. Anyone can see why its important to get the Japanese market. Not to mention, they create exclusives. For example for PS3 like Valkyria Chronicles, Yakuza, Tales of, FFXIII Versus, or for Wii like Monster Hunter Tri, RE: Darkside Chronicles, The Last Story, Arc Rise Fantasia where as Western Devs need a deal or be asked by Sony, MS or Nintendo to consider making Exclusives. There's a reason why MS put so much effort in trying to get the Japanese Market as soon as they released the Xbox360.

k-Lan5731d ago (Edited 5731d ago )

The logical reason for MS to stay in Japan is because the Xbox is still selling. Obviously not as much as MS would like but at least now MS has a console that's reliable. The new Xbox might end up moving more consoles and put them in a better position for the next generation. It's not exactly rocket science.

Are you trying to tell me you only bring up Japan in Japanese related articles? What about all those NPD articles?? You must have a horrible memory.

Another thing i keep reading from the haters is "MS only has Kinect. Kinect this, Kinect that. Halo this, Halo that". Maybe they're trying to keep the focus on Kinect and announce their exclusive games later? Makes sense to me. Then again i could be wrong

NYC_Gamer5731d ago (Edited 5731d ago )

please show me those comments...and refresh my memory..and you act like this is MS first attempt trying to be successful in that market...

Biggest5731d ago

No, bro. That is the TGS lineup for Microsoft. Fanboys didn't do that one.

agree with k-Lan and also there's this expression people use, 'never say never'...

too many n4g members throw around words like: never, ever & of course the oft-misused FACT. let's not lose our grip on reality here folks.

n to the b5731d ago

well I agreed with k-Lan before he updated his comment. in no way am I pleased with the exclusives outlook for 360. check my comments, disagreers.

Mizz_mai5730d ago

Ugh,too much Kinect. I want exclusive announcements. Give me something to look forward to.

When is TGS anyways. I know its in Sept. But what dates exactly?

Gothdom5731d ago

thanks, I was wondering about that too.

dabri55731d ago

Dangit, I'll be at AWA that weekend. First miss first weekend of REACH, now this. At least I'll have my phone on me. I'll keep tabs on the updates. Really excited about FFVXIII trailer. :O

Jazz41085731d ago

I would seriously like to know what you guys that worship the ps3 would do if Sony quit. Would you kill yourselves, lock yourself up, murder, the reason I think this is I never seen anyone more devouted to a company that cares very little about you other then your money. The same could be said for ms but the fans are very few on this site and they don't bash anything that's not pro sony. Please understand that ms is not sony and they have diffrent fan bases that they appeal to. Ms has never let the core market down and will continue to feed them. Just because kinect is coming out does not mean they are not working on deals as ms never announces there stuff in advance and you guys know this so please stop the bashing and think about what you would do without the god you worship because I only worship one god and his name is Jesus Christ......not sony or ms.

AuToFiRE5730d ago

microsoft is a software company, they make operating systems, if you have ever tried linux you will understand microsoft doesnt even know how to make software, let alone hardware. Sony at least makes you feel good about paying $600 for a console, because they always deliver games and they still have a lot of unannounced titles, what does microsoft have? 2 core games and the rest is casual.

and PS
god doesnt exist

"The essence of Christianity is told us in the Garden of Eden story. The subtext is, All the suffering you have is because you wanted to find out what was going on. You could be in the Garden of Eden if you had just kept your fucking mouth shut and hadn't asked any questions...'Get smart and I'll fuck you over,' sayeth the Lord. Is this not an absolutely anti-intellectual religion?" -Frank Zappa(1940-1993)

UP5730d ago

part of your comment about god was totally uncalled for.

PirateThom5731d ago

And Halo Reach will be out 2 days before the show anyway.

Awesome stuff.

Gamer Muzz5731d ago

it's a little heavy on kinect titles.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.
