On the other hand, the last Splinter Cell had a worse version on the PS3, the dark parts weren't dark (washed out, but that's about average on the PS3).

So I am glad this next Splinter Cell is exclusive on the 360. Actually its proven over and over again with the multiplatform games that the 360 version is the best one.

THen we get the Sony defence force:

- bad port
- lazy devs
- its EA
- not enough time
- PS3 devkits shorter in their hands

In the end. It doesn't matter. The PS3 doesn't deliver. It's on the market almost a full year and still behind a lot. Next gen didn't start when Sony said it would with the PS3.

Companies like Sony and Microsoft need fanboys... they provide a great source of free advertising. That's why developer make comments that they know will cause heat.

Fanboys do not determine which console will endup selling more or which format will endup winning.... the console war is an ilusion... as long as companies make money regarless of who sells more... there will always be another iteration. The fanboys think they can determine who wins... if they make lots of noise... and their energy...

With all the articles and flame posted by Sony fanboys about RROD... one would think that the PS3 would have an intallbase of 100,000,000 and blu-ray would be on every home... but no... fanboys do not affect the marketplace on any way shape or form...

Their exclusive NFL license lead to two years of crap games. 2K got back in the game and it it a fire under their a*ses!! Just think if 360 stomped the PS3 and the WII into oblivion or vise versa. We would have crap due to the console maker being content and have nothing to compete against.

But I agree with MK_Red on this one. Once titles like Killzone 2 are released, and more are brought to light (Getaway, Heavy Rain), we will all have a lot more to discuss rather than comparing port quality issues. Technically, the showcases will be made by the developers who know best how to utilize the unique hardware of their platform-specific game. Spec-wars have cooled down a little in all seriousness after E3, but I do suspect a rumble up ahead.
Meanwhile the platform that is, in my opinion, overpriced (Wii) is hauling its butt ahead of the competition. The graphics capabilities of the Wii need to be compared with the Gamecube's prowess. For the matter, PS2 was 299 when it was released, and it packed the emotion engine and graphics synthesizer, rumbling controllers, firewire ports, usb ports, and was considered revolutionary. Dreamcast was released for 249 and was a highly innovative and capable machine. If you think the price for the Wii goes into manufacturing the motion sensitive controllers, consider this: nobody talks about 6AXIS control capabilities and motion sensitive controls when they talk about why the PS3 is so expensive.

right now 360 has the advantage obviously because most multiplatform games are slightly better on 360. i think it will stay this way until 2008. in 07 microsoft has halo, bioshock, and mass effect, 3 huge games. sony has a lot of smaller titles like lair, warhawk, uncharted, but they also have heavenly sword. in 2008, sony starts off with killzone 2, mgs4, and little big planet (and burnout paradise). sonys 3 huge exclusives in Q1 will help their sales a ton and then due to the bigger install base, they will get more support from 3rd partys. i think it will always be close between sony and microsoft, but the ps3 will emerge as the better console in 2008.

I own a 360 and have not had any hardware issues at all since I bought it in March of 2006. I am waiting for the PS3 to come down to an acceptable price $399.99 or lower to purchase it. then I can really let the comparisons begin. Till then let the fanboy wars continue.

I think the Wii is a recycled Gamecube with a glossy white paint job and a magic wand. Thats not innovation thats retardation. Why couldn't Nintendo just release a new controller for the Gamecube, since were essentially getting Gamecube graphics with a different controller scheme for more money than what the Gamecube sells for now $79.99 or what it launched at $199.99 I am sitting on the fence to see if the PS3 can deliver graphics as good as the 360. So far they haven't. Then again Sony has a reputation for promising performance and creating hype that it's consoles never deliver. Look at the PS2. They said it would have CGI-Quality graphics like those found in Toy Story. LIES. ALL LIES. But at least Sony and Microsoft made a significant leap in graphical capability. Shame on you Nintendo.

I think Nintendo proved that creativeness is king when developing software for the hardware...the PS3/360/Wii are all capable of providing developers the muscle for their ambitions, just different approaches...Game Informer's review of Bioshock said that "games just don't come any better than Bioshock" and "would you kindly enter Rapture so that you too can experience the best that video games have to offer" 10/10. I'm sure numerous PS3/360/Wii games will take home honors and accolades from the industry as well...game developers are the real stars...

Please bare in mind the vid card on the xbox is an ati card
and the ps3 is an nvidia card.

The ps3 has essentially the 7900gtx or 7950 in there
while the xbox has the 1900xtx or x1950 pro.

The capablity of the two systems are almost equivalent to one another in the gpu area.

It all depends how the developers code instructions as to how their programs communicate between the processor and vid card.

The multiplatforms games do look better on the xbox for NOW vs the ps3 but we are already showing signs that developers are learning how to code for the ps3. Give it time the developers are learning how to program in the cell environment, and Last i read the cell can handle code that is similar to the gpu chips found in the market today.

Hence there is a chance that games MAY look better than the xbox in the near future. Plus blu-ray gives the potential to run games with uncompressed textures.

Looking for a good 360 post and posting it every once in a blue moon to throw people off doesn't make these guy's any different from the guys saying Xbox sucks etc. I can post the ratio of good to bad news post for both these guys.

devs need to learn the systems there developing for.and build the game for the strengths of the system even on multiplatform games so they should dev the game for the 360 with the 360 strengths and build ps3 games with the ps 3 strengths. they should spend more time learning the systems instead of bad mouthing them and if need be get sony are ms tech involved.in the long run it would be beneficial to the dev more people would buy the 60 dollar games if they were made for system strengths. instead of porting from one another thats the reason the ports look better on the 360 .because when they port to the ps3 its not using the ps3 strengths in my opinion

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
