BC's First Impressions: Heavenly Sword

Heavenly Sword promises to be the first epic exclusive game for the PS3. With huge battles and bone breaking attacks galore. An engaging story packed with emotion is also promised. Is this all too good to be true?

Taking a peek at the trailers, one might think from the combat that is shown, that Heavenly Sword is a God of War clone. Heavenly Sword looks like a more cinematic God of War filled with even more intense action sequences. Even the action sequences bear a resemblance when it requires you to fulfill a button pressing mini-game. Can Heavenly Sword supply us with something new and original?

I don't know about new and original but I do love scantily clad red heads beating the ever-loving sh1t out of people. Its a must own for me.

skitzoid6851d ago

That was great. I love red heads in general so I was sold out of the gate on this one.

xaphanze6851d ago

why is it that all the enemies look the same?

Kokoro6851d ago

i was thinking the same thing. all with the same turtle back and scarf

1ben26851d ago

in armies in general, do some soldiers wear different outfits ?
different class of ennemies = different outfits...all makes sense...

Bebedora6851d ago (Edited 6851d ago )

they couldn't fit so much textures on a blu-ray </joke>

ChanDangle6851d ago

Hmmm why does everyone in the military dress the same?

He mentioned "God of War" more times than he mentioned "Heavenly Sword".

okcomputer6851d ago

lol funny observation. I really don't get the incessant god of war comparison. Its not like god of war is the only game to ever feature sword based combat vs multiple enemies. So by that standard is every fps a doom clone? Is every rpg a final fantasy clone? Is every platformer a mario clone etc..

ShiftyLookingCow6851d ago

if anybody here who wants Heavenly Sword is going to get Madden also get it from Toys R Us, its covered in the 50% off for second purchase deal.

razer6851d ago

However I'm still skeptical with that horribly boring 6min gameplay video with the arrows.. 1 enemy at a time lining up to be shot and just seemed like poor AI all around.

Demo was great.. Why can't I jump?

riqued6851d ago

L1 + /\ + Sixaxis up = better than a simple jump

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro801d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv72801d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_801d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Cacabunga801d ago

Killzone 2+3
Sly Thieves in Time
Crack in Time
God of War Ascension
Motorstorm
Modnation racer
Infamous 1+2

Profchaos800d ago (Edited 800d ago )

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt23800d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball2000801d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin801d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole801d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix801d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel1989801d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor801d ago (Edited 801d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

Michiel1989801d ago

Resistance was the best co-op fps I ever played after L4D2

Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.

LoveSpuds1304d ago (Edited 1304d ago )

I recall enjoying it well enough at the time, but it wasn't a patch on God of War 3 which came out around the same time I think.

I own it and fired it up on my PS3 about 6 months ago and time hadn't been particularly kind to it although it still very much nailed the atmosphere and it is a cool as he'll setting and universe.

Inverno1304d ago

Dante's Inferno needs the GOW treatment. No cut camera, with a real hellish depiction of the 9 circles and a story as dark and as serious would be amazing.

Yui_Suzumiya1303d ago

Still pretty amazing there was a PSP version that was actually pretty good. I remember playing it 10 years ago. I had the PS3 version when it first came out and loved it.

Hellcat20201304d ago

Ahh the memories of playing Heavenly Sword
Such a amazing experience

LoveSpuds1303d ago

Yup, I remember being blown away with Heavenly Sword. I remember holding out hope that they would go back and add trophy support as a incentive to go back and replay the game, but I don't think they ever did?

Yui_Suzumiya1303d ago

I couldn't beat the final boss though! Spent several days trying but eventually gave up, lol. Still enjoyed it though.

refocusedman1303d ago

heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.

YoungKingDoran1303d ago

I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. I still think it does another of things well; story, presentation, level varietily and art style at least. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.
