Talkabout: Metroid: Other M

Video Description: Abbie and Matt sit down to discuss why they were so disappointed with Metroid: Other M.

Tikicobra5764d ago

This is why you're review sucks.

GuruStarr785764d ago

at least abbie is really hot.

rumplstilts5763d ago

Raise your standards, she looks like a bovine.

Or maybe your into that sorta stuff. Whatever floats your boat.

GuruStarr785763d ago

Lookswise shes a 6 and a half.....the fact that she's a hardcore gamer makes her a 9....

hatchimatchi5764d ago

I wasn't really keeping up to date on the news with this game cause I didn't want any spoilers, but now that I've seen how the story is and how they've portrayed samus, I don't want anything to do with it.

I'm all for a good story but it really seems like they've ruined the mysteriousness that has been around Samus since the NES. I'm gonna pass on this one.

EvilTwin5763d ago (Edited 5763d ago )

Considering their complaints, I'm not worried.

There's a legitimate discussion to be had on sexism in gaming (just look at Team Ninja's other games). Most females are treated as sex objects viewed through an adolescent's lens.

But complaining that Samus has to take orders from her COMMANDING OFFICER? Seriously? She's calling that sexist? That is so, so cheap, bordering on nonsensical.
Bayonetta? No sexism. Samus taking orders from a CO? Sexist. I suppose that makes sense...if you fancy torturing logic.

Anyone who has played Fusion knows Samus has baggage. She's not a burly, stoic space marine. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Not being the strong, silent type isn't "sexist," either.

BTW, this was already posted, too.

ChickeyCantor5763d ago

The way she describes the story is total bullocks, there is more to it.
Samus just tells about what goes on in her mind, but the actual problem is explained as you play trough.

These 2 people give little to no in depth about this game at all.

tunaks15763d ago (Edited 5763d ago )

Samus is being characterized the exact same way as she has been since Fusion and the manga back in 2002.

EvilTwin5763d ago

Shh...you're assuming people actually have any clue about the canonical mythology of Metroid. These people pretending Samus has been a silent protagonist forgot she spoke -- albeit in text -- all the way back in Super. And she sounds detached and has neuroses for a reason: she spends all of her time alone going on suicide missions.

AWBrawler5763d ago

They fear characters with any personality. Kratos is the most personality they will accept, and that is sad cos Dante from DMC and Lloyd Irving from TOS are so much cooler IMO

Nioh games definitely up there at the top alongside Ninja Gaiden BLK.

LoveSpuds1241d ago

There is a decent fan base for the Nioh games, but still think they are criminally overlooked and under appreciated.

I just bought the PS5 collection to replay them again with all their DLC, a sweet collection for my games shelf for sure.

Yea, those gardens haven't been plowed in over 10 years now though. Imagine if they cultivated it, let it grow again.

Starman691241d ago

Amazing what ya can do with a samurai sword lol 🤣

tehpees31241d ago

The honourable mention though.

TheSenorCheese1241d ago

originally it wasn't going to be included because of their take on Samus' character. But the gameplay's actually not bad.

Vits1240d ago

Honestly, I don't know if we can even blame them for that take. Nintendo's Sakamoto was credited as the writer and from what we learned later with the Retro Studios interviews for the Prime series, Nintendo apparently never saw Samus as this stoic badass that most of the west imagined her as. Going as far as describing her as "motherly".

shinoff21831241d ago

Ninja Gaiden was dope but I don't really care for alot of their games.

Well it almost killed Metroid so…

PhillyDillyDee1486d ago

Yeah we all loved how you took a stoic badass and turned her into a whiny shrew. All those writers should be sacked.

H91486d ago

I mean it was a killer

Terry_B1486d ago

Sometimes, I doubt that Reggie was that great for Nintendo after all.

2D Metroid Retrospective: Bring on the Remakes

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "The early-mid 2000s saw something of a golden age for Metroid games. After an eight year hiatus, Metroid burst back onto the scene in dramatic fashion. Largely buoyed by the critical and financial success of Metroid Prime (at least, relative to other Metroid releases), Metroid saw a whopping six new titles between 2002 and 2007, as well as one rather bizarre pinball spin-off that wound up being much better than it had any right to be. Metroid had never been this popular before."

Never though the day would come where I say this but I’d be fine with having every 2D Metroid remade the way Dread plays.

INMATEofARKHAM1705d ago

I just want them all in the Switch.
