Ubisoft: Kinect and Move will fail - Nintendo 3DS will rule the future

Alain Corre, European Managing Director of Ubisoft, assumes the Wii counterparts Playstation Move and Microsoft Kinect are not be the the bright future of NextGen gaming and will fail. In his opinion they new devices will only add some casualness to the sales.

On the other side he mentioned that the Nintendo 3DS will be a rising star and Nintendo once again will demonstrate how to create a top selling system.

Miroque5738d ago

Ubisoft ist just upset with Wii Motion Plus and Red Steel....

Acquiescence5738d ago

Floppier than John Holmes oversized appendage.

Robearboy5738d ago

Lol nice to see some proper sense of humor

DaTruth5738d ago (Edited 5738d ago )

They should be upset at the fact that Red Steel 2 could actually sell really good on PS3 with Move!

As long as it plays Sorcery and shooters well when I'm using it, it is a success. Other than the maintenance of support, I really don't give a damn how it sells!

MasFlowKiller5738d ago

But all of their handheld consoles run on remakes,
Original gameboy: NES
Gameboy Advance: NES, SNES
Nintendo DS: SNES, N64

and from the lineup i seen the 3DSseem like a gamecube, ps2 remake machine:
Star Fox 64 3D
Kingdom Hearts
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D

funny thing is, am still going to buy it, lol

Chubear5738d ago

Ahhh N4G, where you don't actually have to make sense or be truthful with you headlines. Just put ANYTHING in the headline while the article is about something totally different.

It's getting worse and worse as time goes by. These people know that a majority of the sites users don't actually read the articles but just go off the headline and the pic associated with the article. Just like editorial reviews; they know most people don't read or listen to the review they just go straight to the "9.5/10" part.

So reviewers can say great things about a game and plaster 8/10 on it and it won't sell but they can say average things about a game and give a 9.5 and it'll more often than not sell buckets.

This is why troll "journalists" (sap lap dogs doing their masters bidding) can troll all day long legitly cause they've seen the gaming community are full of sheep and it's easy pickings lol

theKiller5738d ago

which means they will fail at making any decent games for Move or Kinect!!

someone else will grab the pie!!

mastiffchild5738d ago

I've got two words for why Ubi can't be taken seriously: "Battle" and "tag". THEY thought THAT was a great idea so I'm putting them below Michael "No Sht Sherlock" Pachter when it comes to gaming predictions. Als, Ubi did their utmost to ensre the Wii failed in quality terms with some of the worst, shoddiest, tacked on waggle BS ever made-RS2 is actually their best Wii game by a vast, vast distance, imo, and maybe they base their opinion on it selling like crap while the crappy original sold like hot cakeys.

bakasora5738d ago

MISLEADING TITLE!!
I thought Ubisoft was so ignorant.

Blaming one game on the inability for 360 and PS3 to sell ANY significant amount of casual/cartoony/mainstream games.

Congratulations on graduating first year at massive hypocracy college.

Jack The Lad5738d ago

"Ubisoft will fail - PS3 will rule the future"

ozstar5738d ago

@DaTruth

he thinks Sonys first sword/wand control game will be more accurate than RS2, Zelda or WSR - laughinggirls.jpg

It wont be, because programmers need to learn how to use it, but whatever you reckon.

Biggest5738d ago

And here I thought it would be more accurate because it is. Thanks for clearing that up, ozstar.

Christopher5738d ago

Then why is Ubisoft one of the biggest supporters of Kinect?

Christopher5738d ago

@disagreers:

Honestly, you should really learn to research some things. Here are the current list of Kinect-capable games being produced by Ubisoft.

- Child of Eden
- Fighters Uncaged
- Michael Jackson: The Experience
- MotionSports
- Your Shape: Fitness Evolved

They are the second biggest producer of video games for Kinect next to Microsoft Game Studios.

Moonboots5738d ago (Edited 5738d ago )

Don't be fooled by the headline. Ubisoft's official line on Kinect and Move is NOT that they will fail.

You are totally correct, they are one of the biggest supporter's of Kinect and I expect them to do lots with Move as well. Whether they fail or not Ubi will be there trying to line its pockets as much as they can. Quality is questionable.

franktheprankreturns5738d ago

Nintendo is doing it right. They just sell crapy remakes for the launch of the DS, but everybody loves them and buys it...

vhero5738d ago

This is coming from a 3rd party company... calling Nintendo out here?? Since when has a 3rd party EVER succeeded on a Nintendo machine since the SNES? Answer.. Never! Nintendo = Home of the first party..

avengers19785737d ago

3DS will not be out for some time now. Move is just a couple weeks away and Kinect alittle over a month, so 3DS should not effect the sales of either.
Move comes out against Halo:Reach(not sure if that was wise)
Kinect comes out in the middle of the holiday gaming explosion(not sure if that is wise)

portablegaming5738d ago

And Ubisoft starts a flame war...

Sorano5738d ago

The man has it straight on. He is totally right. Move and Kinect are just cheap imitations and will fail.

raztad5738d ago

MOVE is not cheap by any mean.

Dunno if it will sell a lot, but my preorder is put and waiting to be shipped. I'm gonna kick some azzes in MAG.

lowcarb5738d ago

Personally I would stick to a controller with a game like Mag. As far as Move and Kinect being cheap imitations I think that is just plain wrong. Nintendo may sell better but that in no ways means they have a better product. Nintendo's name is what helps them sell and why many parents buy it that grew up with one for there children.

5738d ago
ChickeyCantor5738d ago

Marketing wise it is a cheap knockoff, not the actual production.

pain777pas5738d ago

Kinect will fail because it just doesn't make sense for core games. Move with the right software could be killer. If Killzone 3 plays better with move then call the Move a sucess. Kinect needs the core. M$ went after the core hard this gen. They have no LBP type game. They need a Killer app and Dance central will have to be demoed and packaged with the system NOW if they want the girlfriends to pick up Kinect. Then the issue is, if Dance central does not come with Kinect, why would I shell out 149.99 for this thing in all seriousness. The only reason why move will be purchase is because I can get another move controller for $49.99 down the road. $100 bucks Sports Champions has table tennis which, I hope works. The thing is if Move is as precise as it seems from video, I can see me using it with HD lifelike graphics on screen. Watching MIIs on screen in sub-HD was tough if you have a good PC or HD console. PS3 is in a good position tech wise but its all about the software.

franktheprankreturns5738d ago

I hate Ubisoft. They never make good games... Assassin's Creed sucks!

TheLeprachaun5738d ago (Edited 5738d ago )

Ubisoft are one of the best Western developers/publishers around.

comp_ali5738d ago

I bet if they said move and kincet are the future, you will say:I love ubisoft they make such great games

franktheprankreturns5738d ago

No I simply don't like the mentality of the French Ubisoft people. They suck...

DatNJDom815738d ago

cant agree with you on the assassin's creed sucks comment. Yes alot of their games do suck you are right, but the assassin's creed saga is one of the best series this gen. My opinion of course.

RememberThe3575738d ago

Thats about where I stand as well.

I love the games they put effort into, but all the shovelware they make really hurts their image.

knowledge4lfe5738d ago

yea... ummmm.... i dunno what to say about your idiotic assassins creed comment. but ubisoft is a joke. assassins creed is one of the best franchises this gen, but other then that cant think of anything good they put out.

hatchimatchi5738d ago (Edited 5738d ago )

Assassins Creed is pretty lousy. It's been around since 2007 and how many games are in the series? 5 that I know of. How many versions have scored well, 1.

It's batting at a .20 as far as I'm concerned.

Ubisoft is overrated as F**K imo. I never understood how they became such a prominent studio. Their games are more often than not mediocre as hell.

BeOneWithTheGun5738d ago

You have your opinion and I have mine. Yes, Ubisoft does some bone head things like that whole DDR fiasco but from a production standpoint, they have some awesome games out there.

Schneestern5738d ago

microsoft eyetoy and a playstation move that doesn't work.
no one needs them so far.
but we do need a nintendo 3ds!

Moentjers5738d ago

just got an iPad, I don't need a 3ds anymore!

specialguest5738d ago

Hey! The iPad is not a total fail. It makes a really nice but expensive drink coaster. You could customize the display to do really cool effects when you sit your beer bottle or can on the screen haha.

lolzers5738d ago

Lol iPad. Lol, no buttons.

Moentjers5737d ago

@TheLeprachaun

Agreed, in the end, I will own both...

Only tried 'Traffic Control HD' and as I also like boardgames, they might have a bright future on touch screens.

I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.

Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.

But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.
