Konami Thinks Move/Kinect Release Windows Are Too Close

Konami digital entertainment president, Shinji Hirano has nothing but good things to say about Sony and Microsoft’s upcoming motion control peripherals. While speaking to Forbes recently in New York, Hirano-san stated that the two companies have done a “pretty good job” with their motion technology.

However with Sony’s PlayStation Move releasing this September in NA/EU ( October for JP ) followed by Microsoft’s Kinect in November, Hirano-san questions why both peripherals had to see such a close release to one another.

I think Kayo Dot's "Coyote" is the only good album that will be released this year.

meetajhu5736d ago

So windows 7 is getting Kinect/Move? Can't w8!

52pickup5737d ago

Kinect should be pushed back 5 years, until they can sort that lag out.

niceguywii605736d ago (Edited 5736d ago )

Sony should have released it when they first said they where. Now Move will die in Kinect's shadow due to Moves Launch being too close to Kinect's trying to steal Kinect thunder. At least Sony was smart enough to launch 2 months before so they can trick as many people as possible before Kinect while at the same time not launching at the same time being crushed by Kinect.

As if people are going to chose a Wiimote rip off when they already have wii's. They'll choose the Minority Reoport/The Island. http://www.youtube.com/watc... http://www.youtube.com/watc...

The Wiimote clone should have never been developed it is a worse idea than Sixaxis motion, matter of fact comparing Kinect with Move is like comparing the Wiimote with PS3 Sixaxis motion in the dualshock. This is why Sony downplayed their own product the other day.

You really think people will chose a copied tech(move) they already own(wii) vs something new an revolutionary(kinect) and a evolution of what they already have?

punisher995736d ago

@niceguywii60: I guess this means you were born yesterday. There isnt anything at all revolutionary about Kinect. Lots of people consider it a PS2 eyetoy rip off.

jukins5736d ago (Edited 5736d ago )

if anyone is tricking ppl its microsoft. kinect hasnt been proven besides casual games and even those i cant see the wii crowd jumping ship and the core xbox owner definetly wont jump ship to kinect. where as the move has shown it can be used across a wide variety of games actual games whether casual, hardcore, or abstract. i think the only reason kinect is coming out this year is so they can trick ppl during the holiday buying frenzy if they really had any confidence that kinect was innovative and awesome they'd work out the kinks get games for EVERYONE and delay the release.

fooltheman5736d ago (Edited 5736d ago )

microsoft brainwashed you?
Please go preaching in the microsoft temple...

There'll they believe everything you say...
The only revolutionary think about kinect is the form of the camera... but that design is as ugly as the Xbox360 slim...
Microsoft should steal the design of apple...like they already ripped of MacOS jaguar for there windows 7

btk5736d ago

Epic Fail.
The Move is by far the best motion controller. Kinect will be the reason XB360 is going to be a distant third place this gen.

By day, Shinji Hirano is mild-mannered Konami digital entertainment president, but by night.....dun dun DUH.....He's....CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!

big_silky5737d ago (Edited 5737d ago )

Maybe Sony should have released it years ago instead of burying it. They invented motion controls, right?

siyrobbo5736d ago

i remember dreamcast having a motion controller

well it was a fishing controller, but it was still a controller which required motion

SaxScrotumz5736d ago

They also had Samba De Amigo...

siyrobbo5736d ago

oh yeah, i forgot all about samba de amigo

nickjkl5736d ago

if they had release dit years ago they woulnt have the same technology as it does now and it probably would have been more expensive and had less games because the developers making games for it now were busy back then

Bigpappy5737d ago (Edited 5737d ago )

Sony is trying to rain on Kinect's perade. But they are failing to do so. Move will be out in 2 to 3 weeks and the casuals have no interest in it what so ever. It will not affect Kinect or the Wii. Move is a hybrid motion controller for PS3 users who want to try motion control like the Wii.

Kinect on the other hand is already out selling the Move even though it come 2 months later. Prompting Sony to come out and predict low day one sales. I will bet that Nintindo is not worried the least about the Move. But I am positive that they are looking at Kinect and going "Aah...OoH, we have a problem here".

I could see this a mile away and predicted it. The only people who will buy the Move, are core games who want to give the wii like option a try. I will make another prediction: All of those shooters which supportMove will be better with the DS3.

yewles15737d ago

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Take from it what you will, and SHYADDUP!!! XD

TheBrit5736d ago

watching the person move the MOVE and then watching the gun trail along after wards just goes to show the issues that it also has

SeanRL5736d ago

Ya, mag with ps move seems to be kinda laggy. It seems way worse than many other ps move games. Oh, and PS move is much more of a hardcore peripheral than Kinect. MS had a chance to make something amazing and they blew it.

raztad5736d ago

@^^^

Why you keep saying MOVE lags in MAG? You already tried it?

fooltheman5736d ago

the guy from the vid...say's he doesn't feel lag... So that's the most important...

How can you say it's Sony's fault? Move looks like a complete working tech with software to back it. Kinect doesn't even look finished. You can tell it's being rushed to market when you see all the features are being taken out. What an idiotic statement.

IdleLeeSiuLung5736d ago

Yet, with a completely working technology nobody is really buying PS Move. About 2-3 weeks from release, sales are still slow and Sony had to down play their sales to manage expectations.

Kinect might not be perfect, but it is a concept that people seem to like. Over 2 months until release and it is charting well.

MicroSony4Life5736d ago (Edited 5736d ago )

but I cant help to think that if Kinect was not happening then Sony would not have botherd with Move - Last year E3 demo of Move looked some what rushed, like MS caught Sony off guard with NATAL.

I agree that Move looks like it has been worked on for some time but dont think it was meant to be released with the PS3, maybe the PS4.

I also think that Kinect was rushed and MS showed it off becasue of all the great exclusives that Sony had - they had to do something to take the thunder away from Sony.

gamingdroid5736d ago

"How can you say it's Sony's fault? "

Well, Sony said they were going to release PS Move in the Spring of this year, but didn't make the schedule so they moved it to the Fall.

Ju5736d ago (Edited 5736d ago )

" About 2-3 weeks from release, sales are still slow" ... slow sales for a product not yet on the market. Interesting.

Anyway, Sony created a working product while - possibly - caught off guard by MS, and yet could release it 2 month earlier as a more complete solution.

Sure MS gets all the hype. I hope it won't dry up after people will realize its nothing more than a fancy iToy.

Dragun6195736d ago (Edited 5736d ago )

I doubt Sony or Nintendo would be worried about Kinect. I mean they both passed up the technology saying how it delivers a limited experience and The way I see it, it looks like it will just do that with its casual Line up.

mac_sparrow5736d ago

"I will bet that Nintindo is not worried the least about the Move. But I am positive that they are looking at Kinect and going "Aah...OoH, we have a problem here".

Only true once the Nintendo execs buy one and try to play a game on it.

To spell it out for you Pappy, "We have a problem here, the damn thing doesn't do what we were told and isn't any fun."

Let me feel the disagree rain people, RAIN IT DOWN ON ME.

:)

mac_sparrow5736d ago

my apologies to those who have come to expect reasoned comments from me, but it's just too tempting when Pappy is posting preemptive 'facts' like some sort of future sailor.

A sailor from the future... it's quite a simple concept.

IRetrouk5736d ago

ha ha ha ha ha ha, oh wait you are serious arnt you, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA KINECT HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

btk5736d ago

Spinning so much you must be suffering from whiplash by now.
Kinect is an EyeToy clone - a very expensive one. The underlying tech might be cool - but you don't use tech because it is cool - you use it because it works well. Kinect is just not accurate enough to compete with Move. But hey - keep posting these comments. It will be just that more funny three months from now when the whole issue is said and done and Kinect gets scrapped like HD-DVD.

What happens when you make good games, keep it up konami, you've been doing great. Please do a AAA Castlevania too, or heck just start off remaking/remastering old games to play it safe.

Alek83101d ago

Bought both Castlevania Advance Collection and the Dominus Collection. I would absolutely love to have all the GBA games as well, and of course Symphony of the Night.

What I would really love though, is a true next gen sequel to SotN.

Cacabunga76d ago

Not any games: SINGLE PLAYER GAMES!!!
I bought Silent Hill and MGS3!
Keep them coming, i will keep supporting!

nommers102d ago

Hoping for a new rumble roses someday

Scissorman102d ago

that's what happens when you make silent hill great again.

Inverno102d ago

Ironic. Also I guess the whole "fk Konami" phase is over now that they're selling remakes of already great games. People are easy to please, just rattle pretty graphics them.

gold_drake101d ago

i mean, silent hill f is a brand new game and it sold better then silent hill 2 remake.

franwex102d ago

Woah, making good games that people want to play pays off?
Someone tell Ubisoft and Square-enix!

badz149102d ago

SE make good games. WTF are you talking about?

franwex101d ago

I don’t mean final fantasy. I meant their OTHER games. Like their Babylon’s Fall, Avengers, etc. Don’t be coy.

RedDevils101d ago

You must be living under a rock if you put SE in the same category as Ubisoft.

Reaper22_101d ago

Well,, I think all publishers have made some good and bad games. Its a risky business.

Nice. Im glad they are doing that.

Vits170d ago

Very unlikely to happen, but I really wish they at least remastered Shattered Memories. From a story telling point, that is still my favourite title and I think it would fit really well as a VR game.

gold_drake170d ago

why is it very unlikely to happen?

2 and f sold really well. especially f

if they nail 1, then im all on board

on_line_forever170d ago

When I want to play silent hill game I always expect to get the same atmosphere I was see in SH 1 & 2 with deep and great story connect with silent hill city (not another city ) so if Konami want to continue release new games it should based on the success of these games.

In my opinion I think the game need :

- improve combat ( no more action just improve the combat and physics)
- another good and deep story
- improve creatures and enemies design
- add mysterious puzzles and it will be good if these puzzles connected with game story
- and of course Akira should involved in the project.
- create mysterious characters

gold_drake170d ago

good, cause .. i mean, after 2, it kinda goes downhill.
off the rails after 3 ha

Miraak82 170d ago

I kinda liked SH4:The Room .. it was kinda weird ... in a good way

BlaqMagiq1170d ago

We need a Silent Hill 3 Remake after 1

Looks like Mobile is still their bread and butter. But I'm glad they are at least diversifying finally...

CrimsonWing69192d ago

Isn’t that the case for most in the mobile gaming market?

cloganart192d ago

It's just saddening to see.

TheEroica192d ago

My god what I'd give for a new Castlevania game.... Still one of the coolest IPs in gaming.... I'd love to play a AAA Castlevania game that gets the god of war treatment.... Treat the whip like a character. Simon Belmont.... Dracula. Go.
