i was an early adopter of HDTV and needless to say i didn't no much about them at the time so i got stung

next tv i want to buy will be 3D so the more manufacturers working on it means i have a better chance of getting it cheaper

this would be revolutionary. glasses seem to be one of the biggest hindrances to people when they think of 3D, hopefully they come up with something

I'm going to wait for the technology to be more refined, with bigger screens then I'll probably buy a non- 3D glasses Sammy tele; and more importantly, when the prices come down.

When its done, and done right, glasses-free 3DTV will be just as immersive if not more immersive than glasses 3DTV.

I am not sure how to take this news. Does that mean we will have choice to use the glasses or not to use them? Are there advantages and disadvantages to either one? Does that mean that I shouldn't buy a 3DTV now and should wait to watch it without the glasses? Kind of confused here.

Yeah but don't you have to be sitting right in the middle of the TV, and not at an angle. If so good for laptops, not for the living room.

The fact Sony are working on this gives me inclination to believe PSP2 will have parrallax barrier 3D similar to the 3DS.

I feel bad for the people who just bought a 3DTV well actually I'm quite jealous. Sony needs to have a network update feature for their tvs so people don't have to buy a new one every year to have the latest technology. People should be able to buy a slider like the 3ds has to put on the front of their 3dtv so they don't have to buy a new one.

This should have been like this from the get-go those glass are sooo annoying after a long period of time, plus they reduce the brightness of the tv once you put them on.

The glasses free technology that exist today is very limited. If you look at the one that exist in Nintendo 3DS you have to sitt right in front of it to work, and thats fine when it´s a handheld console for one person. But it unacceptable for a tv when more people are gonna watch it.

i was gana buy a 3dtv once i got a job (just finished college im not just lazy lol)
but i think i will wait to see how long this takes them, if ages i will get one now then a new one :D

The next HDTV that I get will be glass free and thats only after 5-6 revisions in the model. I will NOT be an early adopter next time.

Wasn't it Sony just recently saying that the best 3D experience was using their glasses based 3D? Now they are saying they are making TV's that don't need glassess. What does that tell us the consumer? DON'T BUY OUR CURRENT 3D CRAP TV'S BECAUSE WE ARE ROLLING OUT SOMETHING THAT YOU ACTUALLY WANT IN THE NEAR FUTURE!

this is why people with half a clue about technology have been saying they'll just wait until glasses-less 3D tvs come out. it wasnt a matter of 'oh i wonder if theyll make them?', it was 'i wonder when theyll be released?'.

I have a 72in' 3DTV and i still dont see what the big deal is about wearing the glasses at all. There not uncomfortable and even if it was it really is a small price to pay for the experience you get. Believe me, 3D (IMO) is breathtaking and I love it in every way. Also people are complaining about the prices of 3DTVs right now, so imagine how much the glassles ones will cost.... yeah. Not mentioning the limitations, I still dont see this really happening for at least 8-10 years as neat as it sounds, no thnx ^-^
