Touch Arcade:
The curious thing about the App Store is that while some areas are completely overloaded (I'm looking at you, puzzle section.) others are surprisingly barren. Aside from Tiger Woods PGA Tour [$4.99], Let's Golf [$4.99 / Free / HD] its sequel Let's Golf 2 [$4.99 / HD] and various mini golf games like Mini Golf Wacky Worlds [Free] or Tiki Golf 3D [99¢] there isn't a whole lot of really great golf games.

AppVee - I have actually been pretty surprise at how little quality golf games there has been in the app store. To often the game turns out to be a simple putting app or a cartoon arcade game. While all of these have potential to be great games, real golf is hard to find. That’s where Real Golf 2011 picks up the torch.

148apps - Given the recent scandal facing Tiger Woods, it would seem to be the perfect time for an upstart new golf franchise to come knock the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series down a peg or two. Gameloft fancied Real Golf 2011 to be just that game, but this one comes up short of the flag and finishes the hole with a disappointing bogey.

MacWorld: As Tiger Woods PGA Tour dominates the golf game genre, it’s hard to remember there are other golf games out there. But Gameloft’s Real Golf 2011 proves there's more to the genre than Tiger. Real Golf 2011 for the iPhone offers realistic golf mechanics, stunning visuals and multiple gameplay options. Its touch interface could be improved, but overall the game is a worthy rival to the EA juggernaut.
