I would've definitely picked Drebin in MGS4. He wasn't featured a whole lot in the game, but I always thought he was a solid black video game character that wasn't portrayed stereotypically...I wouldn't mind seeing him in possible future Metal Gear Solid installments.

Actually Im black and I never thought of Cole as a stereotype of a black guy I just see him as a stereotype of an over enthusiastic athlete who just happens to be black. I think that if he was another ethnicity he would still be Cole just sounding a little different when using the same dialogue. I sometimes believe Cole is based off the actor who does his voice(lester speight).

I like when you get a choice in character creation. I like making my character black for a couple reasons.

1. I like to represent myself as if I'm actually the one playing as the lead character and trying to save the world.

2. I never see any black fantasy stories, no harry potter, no lord of the rings, no vampires nothing like that. Which is sad. I love fantasy and sci-fi but I just wish there was a lead black character in a good fantasy story. I'm not saying there isn't I myself just have never heard of one.

If there are stereotypical black characters in a game. Look at GTA:SA, Sold millions and is renowned for being the best GTA in the series so far, And i know for a fact most people in here have played that game for hours on end and enjoyed it. That clearly shows that people do enjoy playing the "stereotypical black person" in a game.

I actually liked Sazh (I'll let the chocobo in the afro slide...but only just :-)) He did seem the most 'human' and most likeable character out of the bunch.

Was a pretty great Vietnam war game with a look from the Black perspective. It did justice to Black people who fought in the war but stereotyped the hell out of the Vietnamese!

Black people in 4 corners of America, and it's middle have different styles, different accents, and difference in the ways that they act.

Im sick of talkin bout Stereotypes. The only black people that concern they self with what a stereotype is are the ones who are trying to beat off some illusion of being "This" Type of black.

You can hardly find two black dudes that act the same in their own city, none the less, a different area of the world.

And you gotta remember with these video games, they aren't putting the black characters there for black people to enjoy, they're putting them there cause it's politically correct to have a Token nigga in the game.

If they were they'd have a balanced ratio of black to everything else, but they don't.

If you want a real stereotype to break, tell developers to stop putting only American black people in video games.

What about Kiros from FFVIII? he isnt a stereotype at all.
