Has so much great content like this. They have access to pretty much everyone in the entire industry, past and present. It's just a shame that the only content of theirs that makes it high on N4G are the opinion pieces and top tens.

There's a real treasure trove of stuff like this on the site, from just about every important figure in the industry. Great read.

fastrez5751d ago

Is a legend, industry needs more people like him.

wicko5751d ago

The industry needs more people like John Carmack, he is one smart motherfucker.

wicko5751d ago

This guy doesn't work for id anymore so how exactly is he going to tell anyone what the future holds for id? You should rewrite your article summary.

Nihilism5751d ago (Edited 5751d ago )

He has to make such claims to remain relevant. He hasn't made a game in years, isn't he THE guy responsible for the design of doom, aka the actual inventor of the FPS genre...guy could have done anything...wtf happened :S

Or maybe like now he was just clinging onto j.c's ideas and fame...

N4g_null5751d ago

It's funny to see years later design teams acting just like him behind closed doors of course.

The sad thing is I'd just can't make a quake or doom better than this guy. Which is why halo or some other game is loved. I'd dropped the sure this guy can be a dick but arn't we all like that in the industry.

I hope the devs can break away from MS and take their IP's with them in the not to distant future. This entire consolidation and mass industry firings that MS has spearheaded has been nothing but a disaster for everyone except the already rich creatively bankrupt tw@ts at Microsoft.

MS is nothing but a drain on the entire gaming industry and every facet of it.

1Victor156d ago

There is precedent already with bungie separating from Microsoft but I doubt Microsoft will let them go out with their IP’s without paying a huge price

Good for them. From what I hear Microsoft supports it but unfortunately it still doesnt change much but its a step in the right direction. More devs across the entire industry should do this. But regardless, you just love to hate anything Microsoft or xbox. Who's fault is it that sony closed down studios? Who spearheaded that? What i don't understand is that if you hate Microsoft so much why the concern. If this bothers you so much you may want to find another hobby. Free up some of that mental energy for your own well being and stop worrying about shit you cant change.

@FlaggerD care to look at yourself in the mirror, obscure? It's like your 132456th account now, and all of them have you being obsessed with Sony. You just can't handle the fact they literally stomped on Xbox, LMAO! Juggernaut my ass haha. Xbots claiming Expedition 33 winning GotY is a win for Xbox because it was on Game pass is the funniest shit ever LMAO!

Good for them. With AI coming for their jobs and their new corporate overlords working overtime to replace them, it’s a smart move.

Notellin156d ago

It won't be long before Microsoft lays off everyone in gaming and routes that money over into AI.

Time for everyone at Xbox to update the resume and start coming up with Indie game pitches.

The point of unionizing is collective bargaining. Sadly, I do not believe they have any leverage, which is likely why Microsoft isn't impeding them: The investment in AI is gargantuan. We're talking about a data center in Wisconsin that's about 200 city blocks. That is massive and insane.
