I don't get all the tech talk. Is this really a viable way to hack the PS3? Is it true you have no access to the PSN? If so that would mean you could ever buy PSN games or get firmware updates or even get patches to fix glitchs or even play multiplayer games or play games like Demon Souls. Maybe some people don't care but it sounds like a pain to me.

I don't understand the way people think these days. Getting games for free is the exact same as stealing. I don't care how you try to justify it to yourself it is stealing. You people think you are entitled to things for free that the rest of us hard working people pay for. Just think about if you were the devs who spent a year or more of your life working on a game just to have it fail in sales because of pirates. How would that make you feel? why do so many people think you have to download the games? This mod doesn't allow you to download a game, put it on a hard drive, and play it. All it does is lets you rip a game to an internal or external drive, and play it from that. People aren't gonna be downloading the games. Watch as Ps3 game rentals skyrocket.

Game rentals are gonna go through the roof...and then die down...and then go thru the roof again...and then die down...and you get the picture.

If I released a game, I'd make sure I give out free DLC to any gamer who reported links or sites where my games are being leaked. Perhaps I would go so far as to bring them into the studio and give them a tour expense free on their part. I'd reward them like crazy so I could find every leak possible and shut them down.

That said, rest assured, modders will eventually be banned from PSN because if they're stupid enough to pirate games, they're stupid enough to get caught. There's even more extreme measures Sony could take to prevent these people from getting what they want. Imagine buying a console at your local retailer and having your personal information registered into a system before you could even activate / use the console. There's no getting around that.

They could require your console to verify itself every month online and if you didn't have online access, you would have to call a phone number to activate each game you buy.

Bottom line, there's so many games to play and so many ways to get them legally...who the Hell has time to play so many games they need to pirate them. Talk about losers.

The console has been hacked several times before. It would not be entirely true to say it hasn't. That said, I don't think it will stay that way. To me...these are really workarounds until Sony can't actually stop it.

yes it is REAL but its not going to allow piracy! the only method of backing up with this device is frm disc, so its hardly going to be 'bad' at the most its gonna be like game sharing on a lower scale(because you would need to go round to a friends and copy his discs, and even at that this is not confirmed to work)

I would get this just to put all the ps3 games I own or at least my most played ones onto my HDD so I wouldn't have to get up to get the discs from my TV stand now that I have moved my PS3 to my computer desk, since I got a new monitor with HDMI input, that is better than my television. I have Gamefly so I don't need to bother with pirating or renting and ripping since I can keep any game as long as I feel like anyway and if I like it enough the price will be around 45USD or less. Buying games is not a pita with a service like this so I have no reason to pirate.

What is the lesson here? Stop worrying about jailbreaks, let people install the game to the HDD and take this discs out, provide good rental services, and stop issuing "security updates" that remove features that pose no danger to customers and you will do just fine, even if there are people who will pirate.

They removed a whole feature which took them into legal limbo just to stop future paths of piracy. I personally just don't like modern day hackers/pirates and the people who sing their praises. All they ever do is look for a way to cut out the middleman (Sony or MS & the devs) to further their own purpose. All I ever read is about some new game that's been leaked and is now being pirated. How about helping the company that JUST put out what you want and buy it? Can't afford it? Well then get a job. The ONLY reason I would support/understand someone pirating something is because it is not made anymore, or rightsholders have/will not release whatever the content you're looking for. WOW, if this is true, then all one has to do is rent a game and dump it on the HD. Of course, some games are 50gigs, so that HD will quickly start to fill up. A lot of people will start buying the 1 Terabyte 2.5 inch HD to upgrade their PS3s.

All these vids seem to be hiding something as they are all short. If the ps3 is hacked why arent there 8 minute in depth videos with them playing the actual game. All I see is 4 minute vids of them playing the intro screen of games. You never see the ps3 and the tv at the same time. Theres always so many different cords around there television. If this was legit the would be trying to do a better job convincing me.

I havent seen one person get past the title screen and play a actual game. I dont need the camera zoomed in on the tv. I want to see the ps3 the whole time.

Even if you have a 500 gig or above hard drive,fat 32 file system limits you to 4 gig files most games are 8-9 gigs some even bigger which will require you to buy a external drive increasing the cost and the jailbreak thing is expensive

Go to digital foundry and see for yourself. Bioshock, Dead Space, Mafia 2, Kane and Lynch 2, GTA 4, Bayonetta, Red Dead, Bad Comapny 2, And even Modern Warfare all played better on 360!

Dead Space was the lead platform was ps3 and it dibs in the low 20 fps while the 360 held onto 30 fps. Mafia 2 18fps in combat. with no grass no hd lighting and less blood REALLY Ps3 Really?!?!

How do you stand behind such a shit system? Yes uncharted 2 was pretty but it played in a straight line and when its done its done. Same with gow3. Short lived game. Great but you forget about it the next day. I don't forget the time when 3 of my friends and I are on the last wave of horde mode in Gears 2, with 2 of us dead one bleeding out, and I kill 1 of the last 2 guys only to pick up my friend and kill the last for the win! And that was ages ago!

ps 3 should start by getting a f'n proper controller with a trigger button and real analog sticks! Not this crap sponge triggers and analog stick from the 90's.

i got 100Mb fiber line so it would take 2-4 houers fore me but still i only have time to play maybe 1 game a month in sweden thats 69.99dollars and i can live with that

To play online you will always need the latest updates so basically if this only work with 3.41 you will never be able to play online with the hacked games. So because of not be able to play online, this hack is a no for me. I bought a PS3 to play online and for free I won't buy something that need a 70$ HDD upgrade plus 170$ to only be able to play singleplayer for the price of a rental, I rather play online & single player after all I bought a PS3 for both.
