Nintendo's FAQ article on the Wii website has been updated with evidence suggesting that Wii units manufactured in 2007 have a locked away ability to play back CDs and DVDs.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

You can get Hall effect controllers slightly cheaper, but you'd struggle to find as feature-rich a package without some heavy, heavy sales.

well at least i wouldn't, just like i didn't used the Dvd drive in de PS2 and Xbox.
unless they make some software that goes along with it and its unique

if it is true because as it is is still a rumor than I think it wouldn't matter much because many if not everybody has at least a DVD player so I wouldn't see much a difference
It is sooooooooo hard to find DVD and CD player these day. Give me a break. If they want to add Blu Ray or HD DVD then I can understand why they do that but DVD and CD. We are talking about DVD and CD here people? We are not talking about the games but we talking about DVD and CD players. See, even Alen Iverson has something to say about this.
That is if it is true, they should have added this stuff at launch/So far the PS3 just had bigger HDD.The 360 got HDMI port.So far the PS3 had all this stuff at launch.
