Inbe4 Sony disables usb on next firmware and you have to buy a special controller recharger.

j/k i believe you can just stick the controller inside your pc to recharge the battery.

If hacking the PS3 becomes successful, the PS3 could potentially die just like the PSP did. Software sales falling to an all time low, potential malware attacks, etc.

Edit: Because PSP titles have up to almost 5 times the freebies to actual purcases (Disidia Final Fantasy being the best example). But that's all IMO.

BTW, the PS3 this still relies on software sales for profit, and you can see the average PS3 sales... (hint: no where near the other platforms)

If any of you have any computer sense you'd know the following.

The PS3 can only read Fat/Fat 32 formatted external devices..... Meaning the maximum size of a file can only be 4GB!!! Now we all now that BR has uncompressed files correct??

Now unless the program can't split those uncompressed files into smaller fragments I cant see this happening. Not to mentioning How to Rip a game, if one doesn't have a BR drive to start with. So its a bit of a lose lose situation.

Secondly, We all know the PS3 HDD is heavily encrypted as well, so we don't know what encryption is used on each file when installed on the HDD for the PS3 to recognize it as a PS3 game to start with.

If nobody every came forward claiming to have hacked the HDD in the past, which is a 99% certainty then i say its a hoax.(And if someone has managed to have hacked the PS3's HDD, then damn you for not telling us how to save our Demon's Souls game on the PC you crack head!!)

Thirdly. And if all else fails, there is always the magical unique serial number every game possesses. What do you mean I hear you ask... Simple.

Every game has like its own magical CD key... Now If this magical CD get duplicated, it informs the developers immediately when online to flag your console for future ban waves. Much like how people get banned on Xbox live.. well that, and other security reasons hackers thought they had covered.

Fourthly. Promoting a chip like this is good news(IF TRUE!!!) to give Sony a heads up on how to counter.

things these hackers dont get is, whats to stop a Sony IT dude from modding his console. To see how the code works and identifying the weaknesses to render it useless in the next update???

I'll only support modded consoles, if it can add great features to the console like emulators, an All in one Codec Packs, Movie streamers ect ect ect. But for pirated games... naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

If my most expensive console gets bricked by firmware updates: I curse all the PS3 hackers. The more firmware updates that get released (mandatory ones) the more I fear this time I'm going to get screwed.

I agree with why people hack but not 100%. I just don't want to dish out more money for exploits hackers have made public then Sony making fw (which they have a right to do) that has a chance of screwing up my system.

2ndly why is there a 360 game. with what looks to be like a mod chip used in the 360 next to it.
if this was a simple case of games direct to hdd. surely it would be ISO images.
if that was the case the file structure of the ps3 isnt iso when u download a game.

What do these games have in common? All downloadable from PSN and can be played off the PS3 hard drive. Just saying. Aint saying it's fake or it can't do Blu ray games, but more proof is needed.

you can only back up YOUR discs(or say a friends which wouldnt be anything worse than game sharing on a lower scale) so its actually LEGAL, and increases the lifespan of your blu-ray drive..

Aww dude i could totally use this, accidentally got a NTSC PS1 game but i was lucky enough that my 10 year old pal ps1 is modded so i can play NTSC and burned games, but NTSC games dont work on my PAL ps3 for some reason despite the fact that ps3's are region free.

In the other video, his "backup" app is actually running on a PC hooked up to the same TV -- he takes the video at an odd angle so the TV input switch away from the XMB isn't so blatant, and he never shows us the PS3 after the first part -- because he swaps discs in it, while the PC app is onscreen.

The only way you can truly hack the PS3 is with a sprinkle of rancid ripe and expired Dday Milk. When Dday Milk is ripe it can burn through pretty much anything. Use it to melt out the external hardware of the PS3 and get inside. Then use a stick and fiddle around inside until you find the PS3's G-Spot. Once you get that just keep pressing it until it overloads in an electric shock of excitement. It will reset your PS3 and allow you to freely make any internal changes.

I have been in contact directly with the manufacturer and can confirm some things you have all been asking about...

1. FAT32 is currently supported. They are working on NTFS.

2. They recommend staying on current firmware and not updating until they have deemed it safe. The dongle is fully updatable.

3. Online play does work but they cannot guarantee that it will work with all future titles.

4. Final retail units are ready to ship.

5. Official reseller list will be on their site in the next 48 hours. You can pre-order from any of the official resellers. There are websites out there now claiming to be selling but they are not legitimate. Don't get ripped off. Wait until the official list is posted.

I don't understand why this is view as so negative when game sells don't impact gamer pockets...Look at how many games has been sold they was call AAA titles & was BS with a cover....Sony nor any of these company are suffering....Also look at the new online pay feature that's coming into effect...Ex: If i go today & buy a used copy of Madden 2011 i will have to pay EA 10 bucks to play online & on top of that cost of the game.....Tell me how fair is that ?

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
