Am I the only one that thinks that trailer was the most bad as* teaser ever?

Baliw5756d ago

Nice SPOILER for those of us who didn't play the two previous games...

THANKS silentchief...

i got the feeling as though the war was long over...its just small groups of survivors trying to survive...when you look at the train ride...you notice things moving in the background, through the trees and inside homes...it looks like humans have lost to the chimera

WhittO5756d ago (Edited 5756d ago )

^^ Ye, but playing through R2, you got the feeling humans had already lost anyway, going into towns/houses totally take over etc.

I think it would be a cop-out if they just ignored the Hale storyline and started a different 1, it would be different if they didn't leave that on a cliff hanger.

I've always liked the story of Resistance and playing through seeing the chimera changing/destroying everything. It just took a random turn towards the end of R2 and it seemed like they had just painted themselves into a corner of wtf to do next lol.

Beefstew4u5756d ago

Personally, I think the chimera will win. Every continent is already overrun, and the US is almost beat. I think that either this, or some game after will be the fall of humanity. The *SPOILER*death of Hale at the end of the second game probably marked the doom of humanity.

How could they win now anyway? It's not like Canada and Mexico are gonna be able to help much (both of which are probably already decimated. Also would love to see a level be in Canada). I think the first game's title, Fall of Man, pretty well describes what this series is about. The fall of humanity against the chimera.

alphakennybody5756d ago

a resistance movie doesn't sound so bad if they manage to make it as good as this teaser. It was very tense, last time I felt like that was when watching cloverfield.

Quagmire5756d ago (Edited 5756d ago )

No that you mention it, cloverfield monster does look a HELLUVA lot like a chimera O.o

Godmars2905756d ago

Get the felling that they might try for a L4D gamestyle. Refugees fighting across the Midwest.

5756d ago
jonboi245756d ago

If it means a better online/offline co-op mode than hell yeah. I don't know about the midwest because the trailer and even the logo seems to have a strong focus on New York. I'm guessing you'll probably travel from cost to cost. So fighting in the midwest is definitely plausible. Only thing I wonder is whos going to stand up take Nathan's place.

Bathyj5756d ago

Travelling from cost to cost?

Sounds expensive.

TheTeam065756d ago

That's exactly what I said earlier today. I sort of survival horror where you get from one place to another a-la Left4Dead.

Foliage5756d ago (Edited 5756d ago )

I thought the exact same thing, this trailer screamed Left4Dead to me. That's far from a bad thing. I thought L4D offered a few hours of gameplay that was worthwhile (I never played story), unfortunately the graphics were terrible, there was absolutely no immersion, and the combat needed a lot of fine tuning. I think Insomniac will capture all the positives of L4D and nail all the things they missed, and best of all, in a Next Gen engine L4D never had.

Obviously the comparison is far from an exact line, it was there, but very minor. Resistance is a far better franchise and has much more depth, so this is a minor thing.

psman0125756d ago

Yeah this is definitely by far the best videogame trailer i have ever seen...

Godmars2905756d ago

Be better if they could include some RDR elements. Sort of have it sandbox with players having to deal with scouting elements, escape an area before the main Chimera force comes in. Just need excuses how they'd be able to work tanks and such.

@jonboi24:
That's likely what R3's story is about: if the back of the US military is broken with Chimera still advancing on the last holdout, one if not all in the player group takes over as the series main character.

badz1495756d ago

there's a distant feeling of L4D in that trailer

almost positive right as they enter the tunnel the landscape is in game assets or a least a target render! ted price commented on the trailer showing off the new teams work on the environment in an interview so...

theEnemy5756d ago

is what Resistance 3 would look like.

great direction if you ask me.

And wow, people saw 4 humans fighting aliens and now they think of L4D Copy cat ?

geez

UP5756d ago

Yea that is kind of a stupid argument. For one the chimera are aliens and two while there are zombie like enemies most of the enemies have weapons and shoot back at you.

kanetheking5756d ago

Originally, it was thought that gruesome Russian experiments resulted in the creation of the Chimera, due to their invasion starting out of that country. However, the Chimera themselves claim to be the original inhabitants of Earth and to be "the evolution of man". Whether or not this is true has yet to be seen. It is known that the Chimera invaded Earth seemingly for the sole purpose of eradicating humankind and claiming Earth for themselves; however, in Resistance 2, their reasons for invading the Earth are found to be more complex. The Chimeran invasion of Earth seems to have started shortly after the Tunguska Event occurred, lending a bit of mystery as to their true origins. The true origins of the Chimera are unknown, but they are suspected to have been brought to Earth in the Tunguska Event. Evidence suggests that the Chimera have been planning for this to happen for a long time as shown by the excavated Chimeran Towers which were long buried across the world. Some towers even happened to be under major population centers, such as London, Paris, and Chicago.

i did not type any of this lol.i got mind powers. look behind you it's a wall omfg i am badass

arnsekar5756d ago

But it looks more like the St. Louis Gateway Arch to me...

Handsome_Devil5756d ago (Edited 5756d ago )

I gave it a look as well, and I agree with you. I've been inside that Arch so many times I lost count :P.

Good eyes, you must eat a lot of carrots :P

Baliw5756d ago

Well, they are on a train, moving on; it makes sense.

arnsekar5756d ago

He changed it from Seattle

Insomniac Games Has To Figure Out How to Break the 'Normal' Gameplay Loop in Marvel's Wolverine

For a mutant who can't die, how will Insomniac Games adjust the healing mechanic in Marvel's Wolverine?

Knocked out is still an option. So are being captured or restrained. Then there's potential for fatigue being a factor or just putting limits on how many times you can come back from healing quickly, making it also something you upgrade throughout the game.

Really not a hard thing to gamify, honestly. Just look at the last wolverine game.

StarcrossedBits230d ago

Yeah, this is very silly. Wolverine's not invincible and he can actually die anyway. This isn't the Superman problem. The 360/PS3 game handled it great.

Deadpool is another example. That guy literally can't die because Death won't take him. But they still figured out a way to make a game around him.

jambola230d ago

Probably just have a health bar, only a tiny minority will probably be bothered by "oh but adanced healing" nonsense
Injustice was successful, people didn't cry about superman being beaten by humans

Juancho51230d ago

Ive seen enough to know that whatever they do will focus heavily on insane combos and dismemberments and all kinds of cool shit we wish we'd seen years ago as wolverine fans.

This is in great hands, all open world games get stale, I'm sure this game is going to be GOTY contender because of the talent behind it, but I hope its doesn't fall into any traps that make the world feel empty or underutilized.

LFG tho!! EXCITED.

BlackCountryBob230d ago

Of all the things to worry about, this feels like the lowest ebb. I’d perhaps be more concerned about how they can find enough variety in the combat mechanics to stop a 10-12 hour game from becoming a bit samey, even if they get that main combat gameplay loop to be incredibly satisfying.

Obviously Wolverines claws will remain the main combat method, but thinking about how God of War benefited from (and differentiated itself from predecessor’s) by increased verticality in combat and also ranged attack mechanics, I’d be interested to see what Insomniac can come up with.

__SteakDeck__229d ago

Jean Gray will be playable for a portion of the game. That’s how they’re going to spice it up.

LoveSpuds229d ago

Interesting to hear to views os such an experienced game developer/designer.........wha t's that, you just a random dude off the internet....
