Well I haven't started ME2. I beat ME1 with my first 360 but sold it along with the console a long time ago. I bought the 360S and ME1 and ME2. I wouldn't mind playing ME2 again on PS3 for the trophies, even though I'll play it first on 360. Problem is that by playing ME1 and transferring your character, you can influence ME2 by your actions. I guess you can play ME2 without playing ME1, but I like the idea of decisions having consequences.

ME2 can be a standalone because it introduces new players to the ME universe and the storyline of ME1.

Good good good... This is huge news, makes me wonder why Sony didn’t announce it at E3…

I would still recommend playing ME1. Even if you borrow your buddy's 360, or buy a used one from Gamestop and return it within 7 days, the first game is phenomenal. Sure you can get an overview of the first ME in ME2, however it's just not the same as playing it.

I'm in the last 20 min or so of ME1. I'm importing my character into ME2. I haven't even touched ME2 yet, but I will let you know what I think.

ME was never MS-exclusive, you could play it on Sony VAIO :D

they go over the story from the first one anyway. ifthey do have a ton of new content ill buy it again for ps3. the first one is fun though. there are also 3 books!

I own both 360 and PS3, althouh the 360 is on the shelf until gears 3, then I get that beast of a game and 3 months of xbox live. But seriously now, Microsoft needs some new 360 exclusive games. Because there is just like what?

Mass Effect 1 savegame can be carried over to Mass Effect 2 and the experience is greatly different (and in my opinion better) to when we start a new Mass Effect 2 game, in my opinion it is better to play Mass Effect 1 first and use that savegame for Mass Effect 2. But I don't know how they will resolve this issue seeing that their is unfortunately no PS3 version of Mass Effect 1 announced.

I remember hearing rumors about this back in March. This is terrific news. I for one will be purchasing it. Even though I already have the game on PC I'd like to earn trophies and check out the new content.

It seems silly when they are only doing the second one. They can not port the first one since Microsoft published that one

Good news about ME2 but what about ME1? There might be something at Sonys conference. possibly a PC save converter from the PC game to the PS3.

Nice for those who only own a PS3, my reasons for buying an 360 seem to be dwindling by the day. Oh well, at least I can play threw the ps3 version, looking forward to the new content.

All we know coming to the PS3 is the second one. First and third may be a no show(see SC 5).

i feel happy that the ps3 owners will get a chance at mass effect 2, because it's just really awesome. but the question here is how are they going to get the option to import save? the only solution i can think of is either buy the pc version, finish it and export the save game to the ps3, or create a text-based me1.

The rumour yesterday was for Mass Effect: Genesis and today we got Mass Effect 2. My guess that Genesis will be a port of ME1 under a new name like Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Ninja Gaiden was also published my Microsoft and they got around it.

i just hope they do a good job on the ps3 like they did on the 360 remember me2 runs with the unreal engine 3 and we all know it hasnt been kind to the ps3.

Mass Effect 2 is a great game, I`ve played it on my 360 but I`ll be buying it for my PS3 (it`s that good) With that said, I expected this at some point or another but it`s kinda disappointing it`s not the ME:Collection. Maybe w/ ME3 they`ll do that.....who knows? BTW, To 360 only owners who are mad about this, this is why you need to have 1st party studios.

Honestly, I feel somewhat betrayed. Mass Effect was one of the reasons that made me a proud Xbox owner. But... at the same time I feel glad that Ps3 owners now get to enjoy the same awesome experience I had with it.

Ok this is huge plus is there another halo game coming out other than rich its going to be multiplatform as well plus gears of war 3 is the last series what. What microsoft will do with all the exclusive good game they had going multiplatform?

I am extremely excited to get this one and I was going to get for the PC through other means but since it is coming to the PS3 with additional content then this is a must on my list.

no more reasons for anyone to buy an xbox360 now. First it was TES IV Oblivion, which wasn't supposed to be on the PS3, then Timeshift, Bioshock, Braid, etc. Now Mass Effect 2.

And the PS3 still keeps all its 3rd party exclusives (MGS4, Demon's souls, 3d DGH, Yakuza 3 &4 etc.)

Congrats to PS3 owners (really, just own both and stop bickering).

It's a fantastic game and you will love it in general.

However, I have to note how all PS3 fanboys were saying it's not "exclusive" because they could play it on their PC yet this is almost to 200 comments saying how it kills the xbox and such....you can't have it both ways. It was either exclusive to xbox 360 or not.

I really hope so because not only is ME1 a better game imo but it would be dumb to have only 2 games from the trilogy available to PS3 owners once ME3 comes out.
