Six Games That'll Save Virtual Console (RunDLC)

For retro fans, the Virtual Console is one of the best reasons to own a Wii, at least until recently. For whatever reason, Nintendo and third parties haven’t released many games for the service, and most weeks have no games at all. It’s a bit premature to call it dead, but there’s definitely a problem.

On that note, Virtual Console still has tremendous potential, especially if Nintendo adds these six old school hits.

Would kill for Yoshi's Island.

Buff10445750d ago

I think you and a lot of people! It's a classic!

Smiling5355750d ago

One of the all time classics. I miss it. Played and beat it on SNES but that ages ago.

thorstein5750d ago (Edited 5750d ago )

I have it dloaded. It is fun.

I know it isn't Yoshi's Island but.. until then...

Buff10445750d ago

I think you mean Yoshi's Story. That's the N64 game and it's on VC for sure. Just checked.

fossilfern5750d ago

Starwing was amazing i still have it boxed :D

Buff10445750d ago

Star Fox just makes sense. Not sure what's holding that up. The way Nintendo's been acting, we may never see it at all.

poopface15750d ago (Edited 5750d ago )

but star fox fron SNES is way too dated I think. People wouldnt want that one nearly as much a 64 I think. I recently played starfox on my SNES and it was really showing its age compared to starfox 64.

N4g_null5750d ago

I actualy like the first one way better even with the slow mo graphics and the music was way better. Way way better.

TheDCD5750d ago

Yeah, go figure, they prefer to pimp out StarFox 64...not a bad idea, but still.

cervantes995750d ago

Killer Instinct Gold for me :)

However, since this is a RARE title, I would prefer to see a remake on XBLA with a high def upgrade and achievements.

Buff10445750d ago

Yeah...would LOVE to see that game, but the Microsoft deal with Rare probably makes it a no go. But who knows?

RH065750d ago

Nintendo has published many Rare games on the VC, I think since they got purchased by MS nintendo owns the rights now...? I just don't really get that situation right now.

Theonik5750d ago (Edited 5750d ago )

Nothing can save VC. It did well while it was new and people were still exited but now people figured that they can play those same games for free without being limited to what Nintendo gives them.
*Or rather it would be hard to save it at this point

New 'classic style' Star Fox game to launch this summer claim multiple sources

Nintendo is planning to revive Star Fox with a new game this summer according to an insider, alongside Pikmin 4: Switch 2 Edition and Splatoon Raiders.

MayorPauline47d ago

Nate the Hate dropping bombs. He shot his recent video this past Wednesday and Nintendo teases Star Fox in Galaxy soon after. At this point hes the source of the leaks. He's an Nintendo employee working psy ops for them. 😆

The last good Star Fox was the one on gamecube

Redgrave45d ago

There were two, of which I assume yoi refer to Assault and not Adventures.

DarXyde45d ago

I liked both of them. Starfox Adventures was a fun game, just not a particularly good Starfox game. On its own, if it stayed Dinosaur Planet, I think it would be much better received. Assault was awesome. Loved multiplayer on that game.

Starfox Adventures had a really special OST in some spots, too. Thorntail Hollow was such a phenomenal score. It was like this beautiful mix of African and Celtic sounds. Like Zulu vocals over something Enya was working on.

MrCrimson45d ago

I must've missed a good star fox game on the gamecube - the last good one I remember is Star Fox 64- which - imo holds up well to this day..

darthv7245d ago

I honestly did not mind Zero... it deserves a second chance on the NS like many other Wii-U titles received.

All I ask for is plenty of content/stages and a good challenge, if it's a cakewalk I would be disappointed.

repsahj45d ago

I really want a sequel to Star Fox Adventures, but a classic-style Star Fox is also welcome.

Elda45d ago

Hopefully it's a classic Star Fox like the original but of course with better graphics & a bigger game.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (1996) Still Feels Like Peak 90s Star Wars

This game along with Rogue Squadron got me into to Star Wars. The release of special edition VHS Star Wars collection was perfectly times on top of all that. 😆

Redgrave51d ago

Because it is.

Please re-release this.

SimpleSlave51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

But it wasn't. Although I do agree that some of the tie-in media, like the novels and comics, were pretty good.

Still, games like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, and the space sims were peak 90s Star Wars. Shadows fell flat because of the abysmal controls and unimaginative levels. And if you wanted to really experience the seedy side of the universe, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 was peak, and it wasn't even close.

Regardless, and much to my dismay, we got the better version thanks to Ubislop in Outlaws, which is what Shadows should've been, albeit at a smaller scale.

shinXseijuro50d ago

As a kid me and my cousins loved this game . I have great memories with this one and the Star Wars pod racer game .
