Final Fantasy XIV - Will Your Computer Run It

Do you plan on playing Final Fantasy XIV but aren't sure that your computer can run it? Well, Square Enix has developed a solution to your problem with their Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark tool. This uses real maps and models from Final Fantasy XIV to see if your computer can handle the game when it's released later this year. Do you ever wonder how your computer compares to others? Post your score and see how you rank.

My computer can run anything.

Hmmm I don't trust the results. My comp ran a not-so-choppy cutscene and it still ended up below 1500 lol.

Reibooi5759d ago

No one should trust this benchmark it's HIGHLY inaccurate. The benchmark can rank you as a 8000 and you may not be able to run the game and it can fail to rank you at all and you can run the game perfectly on high settings(this one happened to a friend of mine who got into the beta)

The best way to see how the game will run is to run the benchmark and by looks alone see if the cut scenes look right. If they have a decent frame rate and the voice lines up with the mouths. If that seems to be fine then just compare system specs to what SE says the game needs and you should be fine. Just don't rely on the score the benchmark gives you because it's horribly inaccurate.

I bet it can't run the London Marathon.

Even if it runs fine, is it going to be as good as minesweeper?

kevnb5759d ago

they standard for the bench tool is much higher than the standards they use for console games.

So they are telling me, that my computer, which head over heels out performs my ps3 in multiplats, can't run this game on the lowest settings. How is the ps3 gonna do it? And if you say optimization, they could do the same for the pc.

callahan095759d ago

I don't have the answers, but I do know that when it comes to optimization it's much easier to optimize for a console than for PC because when it comes to PC you have to worry about the fact that there are tons of different CPU's, GPU's, RAM amounts and speeds, OS's, etc. and practically infinite combination possibilities for what setup a gamer could have. So it's not like they can take advantage of the architecture any one particular setup like they can for the console. Every PS3 is the same, so they can optimize for that one particular architecture. Not really possible for PC.

There are... so many issues with this game, and this is coming from an avid FFXI player. The game basically contradicts itself with a lot of it's features.

I'm sorry.

You must be Mac users.

i didn't give you a disagree even though I disagree.

But most pc gamers and ALL hardcore pc gamers take the couple hours to figure out how to put together a pc. It's gotten to the point where you don't even need to know what the hardware does. I'm pretty sure their are countless youtube videos on how to do it.

In the end the machine becomes your own. It's one of a kind. Not some standard issue box you buy at the store (consoles).

But then I still have more respect for people playing on the pc no matter if they built it or not. It just means they want the best experience possible and you shouldn't hate for that.

crck5760d ago

I believe their just saying they would rather build it themselves and save the 30%-40% mark up.

Considering I constaly update this baby, yes.
