Wii 2007's Most Wanted

Eurogamer's most wanted 2007 games for Wii:
"Most Wanted lists like those featured in this series bring out the worst in a readership (as 300-odd furious comments in our previous two articles demonstrate with car-crash appeal). For many gamers who own just one of the three main players, defending their chosen machine is not just about fighting for its honour but also about justifying their own wisdom as a consumer. Gamers who have eschewed Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 for a Wii may well fight with similar (also pointless) vigour, but with so few games in the Wii's catalogue, they certainly have a lot less ammunition. Newfound gaming grannies and mainstream press column inches don't pack quite the same punch as a Halo 3 or Metal Gear Solid 4 in the playground debates."

My wanted Wii list is also simple:

1) Super Smash Bros Brawl
2) Super Mario Galaxy
3) Super Smash Bros Brawl
4) Metroid Prime 3 Corruption
5) Super Smash Bros Brawl

Yep, my Wii top five...

MK_Red6868d ago

You really want Super Smash Bros Brawl. I'm waiting to see if Sonic joins the cast.

Gotta update my list:
4.Super Smash Bros Brawl
5.No More Heroes

Definitely gonna get brawl. that's getting online play right?
I'm still a little upset Metroid Prime 3 isn't getting online. I know that isn't what the core of the game has been about, but it would've been nice. Any one else think there should be online for MP3??

You know what would really, truly, kick ass?

A big, hi-def, next gen Super Mario game for PS3 and 360.

Just a whole new Super Mario (Like the N64 one) but on the next gen consoles!

You have to admit that it would kick major ass!

but I plan on getting one this holiday season. These are my top 5 most wanted:

1. Manhunt 2 (Please make it uncut.)
2. NiGHTS: Journey of dreams (I'm a huge Nights fan since the Sega Saturn days)
3. Super Mario Galaxy
4. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
5. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

this sure is stimulating discussion. deciding which one of the 2 or 3 games coming to wii in the next YEAR you are going to get. you're all going to buy them all because there are'nt very many scheduled to come out. i think the bigger topic about this article is just how FEW games there are for the wii right now as well as in the future. someone should shake nintendo and let them know that the system is selling because it's cheap and that they better get some games going or it'll end up like the N64 and the GC.

"this sure is stimulating discussion. deciding which one of the 2 or 3 games coming to wii in the next YEAR you are going to get."

Huh? This is about 2007, not 2008. None of the Wii games have the hype of PS3 or 360 games in N4G, but it doesn't prove anything of their quality. I'll wait until the reviews. I have already predicted that Wii will get more AAA games this year than PS3 or 360. Let's see at the end of the year who's right and who's not.

Anyways, here's my list of US released 07 games I'm going to keep my eyes on (definately doesn't mean I'm going to buy them all):

-SSBB
-SMG
-MP3
-RE Umbrella Chronicles
-Endless Ocean
-Battalion Wars Wii
-Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn
-Dewy's Adventure
-Manhunt 2
-Nights: Journey of Dreams
-Zack&Wiki
-No More Heroes
-Madden 08
-Tiger Woods 08
-Soul Calibur Legends
-Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
-Rayman Raving Rabbids 2

EDIT: I haven't purchased a current gen console yet, because there aren't that much games I want on any of them. Wii has two AAA titles: Zelda (not the biggest fan of the series) and RE4 (already played it, might pick up the Wii edition when the price goes down). PS3 has one AAA title and 360 has six of them, but there's only one I'm interested in: Oblivion. Other than AAA titles I might get for the consoles are Super Paper Mario, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Forza 2 and Viva Pinata. Not enough for now.

Then there is Microsoft's approach which is just to piss in the wind and 95% of their stuff turns out bad. Developers might like that personally but you'll be out of a job quicker than you know it through badly shipped products.

Redgrave535d ago

First party Nintendo titles are held to a specific standard for a reason. It could be argued that both Sony and MS could benefit from doing the same, but you are right with MS nonchalant approach and "it scored well internally" and then putting out something like Redfall. Even Halo, MS' flagship series, wasn't overseen with the fine tooth comb to ensure it was top notch quality.

Nintendo first party games are very rarely duds, let alone non functional ones. You don't get that without a little (or a lot) of micromanaging. Is it annoying? No doubt. Their track record speaks for itself though and you can't deny that.

DarXyde535d ago

I think there is good evidence for both sides of that argument, really.

Japan Studio didn't have much oversight and that studio produced pure magic. Financially, it wasn't a cash cow studio, but I sense that anyone who played their games really felt the care and passion for their creation at work. Media Molecule is another one. I personally feel that Sony and Microsoft micromanagement tends to be overly negative. It might work for Nintendo because they're big on making a fun and engaging game first and entice people that way.

Sony as of late and Microsoft for at least two generations now, when they get into the micromanagement, it seems like a profoundly anxious experience.

i dunno if i agree with that.

i think some leeway is necessary to achieve atleast some sort of spectacle.
